The work requirements are projected to cut SNAP enrollment by up to 1 million people and would decrease spending on SNAP by $20 billion over 10 years, according to a Congressional Budget Office analysis.

Trump Admin Won’t Hold Parks And Monuments Hostage If Government Shuts Down
During the last government shutdown in 2013, the Obama administration completely closed down more than 400 parks and monuments across the country. The administration blamed the shutdown and forced furlough of 20,000 U.S. Parks Service employees on the closures.
The move was widely criticized by Republicans accusing then-President Barack Obama of unnecessarily making the shutdown more upsetting to Americans than was necessary.
Trump WH: We’re Not Going to Politicize a Shutdown the Way Obama Did
Short called it “incredibly frustrating” that the regular appropriations process doesn’t work and Congress continues to lurch from one continuing resolution to another. “We submitted a budget to Congress last February; we’re now in mid-January without a spending bill,” Short said.
Senate Democrats have refused to proceed to normal appropriations bills, all 12 of which were passed on time by the House.
Short noted that appropriations bills need 60 Senate votes to pass, so 10 Democrats would need to join Republicans Friday to keep the government funded for another month. “So the reality is that those ten votes we need to get to 60 is what’s basically bringing the government to a shutdown and stopping funding of our troops.”

The walls are closing in on Sen. Al Franken, with a seventh accuser stepping forward today and multiple Democrats calling for his resignation in the aftermath, including DNC chair Tom Perez and more than 20 Senators (and counting).
Franken is expected to give remarks tomorrow and, well, it’d be pretty crazy if he didn’t resign. The former SNL star’s time in public service should be drawing to a close, and provided it did, what happens next in Minnesota politics? Democratic Governor Mark Dayton is given the ability to make a “temporary appointment to fill any vacancy,” according to state law.

There are really two ways to look at this effort. One is that this attempt to impeach President Trump got slapped down hard today. The other is that there are now 58 Democrats willing to attach their names to this desperate action which their own leadership is officially against, at least for the moment. During a House Judiciary Hearing with Sessions, Jackson Lee asked the AG if he stood by his previous testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee. The Democratic lawmaker’s awkwardly phrased and roundabout question required Sessions to ask her to repeat it several times.
When Sessions was finally able to answer the question, Jackson Lee angrily cut him off again and refused to let him answer.

GOP will add more tax cuts for the middle class with money raised from eliminating the mandate.

If this is true, that means the other senators who have voted against Obamacare repeal attempts have agreed to vote for the tax bill with the mandate repeal: John McCain (R-AZ), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Susan Collins (R-ME).

Meanwhile there’s a trial going on right now of a senator charged with 22 counts of corruption and sex trafficking. No one has heard a word of it. The difference is the senator has a ‘D’ after his name and that makes all the difference,since they are held to no standards of morality.

The WaPo article does not say how WaPo found these specific women, it only says it heard general rumors:
“While reporting a story in Alabama about supporters of Moore’s Senate campaign, a Post reporter heard that Moore allegedly had sought relationships with teenage girls. Over the ensuing three weeks, two Post reporters contacted and interviewed the four women.”
Alabama is a pretty big state, it would be interesting to know how WaPo identified four women out of millions for a story that has not been uncovered by any of Moore’s many prior political opponents.
Let’s hope more evidence comes out that sheds light on who is telling the truth, and that it comes out before the election.
