Once again, the American public lost when the Obama administration attempted to pick “winners and losers” in the free market. Today the electric car company Fisker Automotive, which received nearly $200 million in taxpayer money, is laying off three-fourths of its U.S. workers.
The Anaheim, CA-based start up has failed at pretty much every level – especially when it comes to the company’s ultra expensive luxury electric hybrid, the Karma (what a name!), which is assembled in Finland and received a green-energy loan to transition the assembly to the U.S., something that never happened.
This losing tax-subsidized venture joins other past losers like the Obama-subsidized Volt that gets 40 miles per battery charge, or like the Obama-subsidized Tesla that turns into a “brick” when the battery completely discharges and then costs $40,000 to repair.
This is really just the latest manifestation of the administration’s crony capitalism as their green energy buddies benefit from this atrocious waste of taxpayer money. Americans really need to get outraged by these wasteful ventures. As we’ve seen time and time again, We the People are always stuck subsidizing the left’s “losers.”
So what’s the solution and where do Americans go with our outrage? Stand up against the crony capitalism and elect only those who understand and will let America’s marketplace dictate economic successes, instead of letting politicians (some who have never run any business nor even worked in the private sector) choose free enterprises’ winners and losers. Take a stand, friends. Nothing will change unless you do.

This was not the meteor that was expected to do a close flyby today. That one, 2012 DA14, has come as close as it is going to and is now moving away from Earth again.
The Environmental Protection Agency web-site states that overexposure to UV radiation is linked to skin cancer (melanoma and nonmelanoma), premature aging of the skin and other skin problems, cataracts and other eye damage, and immune system suppression.
In March 2011, the Government Accounting Office (GAO) examined the first 18 loans that were approved and found that none were properly documented, making it impossible to determine how loan decisions were made. The Department of Energy’s inspector general testified that contracts were steered to friends and family. Many of the fundraisers, bundlers, and political allies who benefited from government green energy largesse are now busy raising money for Obama’s re-election campaign.
Members of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) were asked what “sustainability” means.
In my local community, Republican leadership devoted years to building up a nice savings account to use for major one-time expenses and to cushion us against economic downturns. When Democrats took over the majority, they began spending that savings account at a phenomenal rate. What used to be multiple millions of dollars will, by the end of this fiscal year, be zero. Next year, our community government’s income will be less than the Democrat budget … by a LOT.
As anyone with a piggy bank knows, a savings account is a non-renewable resource. It takes a long time to fill it up and a very short time to empty it out. But did this bother the Lefties who have been sucking that savings dry for the past few years? No. In fact, one of the uses to which they put this non-renewable resource was to hire a Sustainability Czar. Do ya GET the irony? The Sustainability Czar’s SALARY is unsustainable. Sheesh.
Her job is also a tad mysterious. Apparently she is tasked with sticking her nose into the business of local agencies to make sure they are doing “things” in a “sustainable” manner. I’m not sure what that means exactly … apart from the obvious Democrat Throwing Her Weight Around while Getting in the Way of People who are Actually Trying to Accomplish Something for Taxpayers. THAT part is crystal clear.
Fracking may not be a huge issue where you live; it is where I live!
But even if you’ve never heard of it, you should care, because there is enough natural gas under our own soil to provide our needs for more than the next CENTURY.
The best way to get it is by fracking. The Left doesn’t want us to frack. They claim fracking causes water pollution. Never mind that it’s been done safely for more than 30 years in other communities across the country.
Here in Tompkins County, land-owners legally sold the rights to fracking companies to drill on their land. The Lefties sued and the local liberal judge found in their favor.
The local case will go to a higher court on appeal and I hope the fracking companies and land-owners win, because we need the gas and we can get it safely.
And also because I’m so SICK of the Left’s lies about me and my peeps.
In the 2011 local elections, the Democrat’s campaign was a non-stop barrage of “Republicans don’t CARE about water quality!”
Excuse me? We don’t drink water? We don’t have children? OUR candidates were talking about REGULATING frackers so we could have the gas AND safe water.
I’m so SICK of the Left painting me and mine with this broad “EVIL, RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC, NARROW MINDED, STUPID” brush.
Who’s stupid and narrow minded? The Republicans who learned how fracking is done, brought in representatives from communities where fracking has been going on for years, and talked to the companies that bought and the land-owners that sold the leases? OR the Democrats who just bellowed, “Oh My God Republicans Are So EEEEEVILLLLL”?
We are NOT, dammit. What we WANT is for America to SAFELY and RESPONSIBLY tap local sources of fossil fuels, so we can enjoy lower prices, a higher standard of living, and fewer “blood for oil” wars.
We’re NOT stupid. We know the fossil fuels will run out. Duh. But what’s the point of leaving it in the ground? Huh? It’s not like these green technologies are safe or affordable YET. It’s not like any of them can even heat or cool your home, never mind fuel industry.
It takes ENERGY and lots of it to have the conveniences and technology most of us enjoy. Materials have to be mined and manufactured, transported, assembled, transported, packaged, transported, offered for retail sale, and transported again until finally, you get to have it at your own home or business.
And for now, the FACT is that almost all of this requires fossil fuel.
(Unless you want to use nuclear power plants, which the greenies also abhor, but that’s another whole story.)
Why do you think the cost of food and postage and pretty much everything else you buy has gone up so much in the past 3 years?
Because the cost of FUEL has gone up.
Unless you’re Amish, even the organic produce you buy in season at the farmer’s market has fossil fuels in their past.
And why has fuel gone up?
Because Obama et al. banned U.S. companies from doing off-shore drilling (while selling the rights to other countries, whose drilling operations are not subject to the environmental regulations ours are).
Because Obama et al. canceled drilling leases that were granted under Bush.
Because Obama et al. refused to allow the pipeline from Canada to come here.
Because Obama’s bffs in Tompkins County and elsewhere are trying to legislate and/or sue to stop fracking everywhere they can.
I’m so SICK of it. And I’m especially SICK of the MEDIA’s cooperation in LYING about these things.
Fox News is the only major news source that isn’t acting like the public relations arm of the Democratic National Party. The rest of them are not just grossly left-biased, they’re PROUD of it.

BTW, I got the idea for this in an email about the cost of the Volt. If you get this email, it will say it costs more than $18 to recharge the battery. The author got the cost of electricity WRONG by a factor of ten. Using the average cost of electricity in the U.S. for January 2012, the battery should charge for less than $2.00.
When I was creating my very simplified data set above, I bent over backwards to favor the Volt, allowing the tax refund off the purchase price for which not everyone is eligible, ignoring that the Volt only seats 4 where the Focus seats 5, not counting the cost of parking yourself somewhere during seven ten-hour battery charging sessions, the difficulty of finding a place to plug the car in and/or fees such a site would charge on top of the cost of the electricity, or the cost of just ignoring the battery and driving cross-country with a gas tank that is 25% smaller than the Focus tank is.

Evolution?
The National Center for Science Education promotes a Darwin Only curriculum at all levels of science education.
They sue school boards and teachers who make any attempt to allow students to even hear that the Intelligent Design movement exists.
Their number one argument is that intelligent design is “creationism in disguise” and therefore violates the constitutional separation of church and state.
Yet there is abundant and ever-growing evidence that Intelligent Design is not merely real science, but also that it is much better science than Darwinism.
It is not scientific purity, but the fact that Intelligent Design demonstrates scientifically the existence of an intelligent creator that makes it utterly unacceptable to the Leftists who run the NCSE and other pro-Darwin groups.
It’s obvious that their real agenda is to promote atheism. And whose great big spiritual agenda does THAT serve? Duh.
