Media Malpractice

The MSM has become little more than an undeclared political PAC for the Democrat-Progressive agenda.

Case in point.

2015_09 TIME misquotes Pope

I am not holding my breath for the pope’s remarks on marriage to be reported by any of the Left’s agitprop “news” organs.

Vatican City, Sep 10, 2015: Pope Francis told couples, “The family – as God wants it, composed of a man and a woman for the good of the spouses and also the generation and education of childrenis deformed by powerful contrary projects supported by ideological colonization.”

Surprising support from the other side of the aisle

Camille Paglia is an atheist, a Democrat, a professor and a social critic. You’d think you could predict her reaction here, but you’d be wrong.

2015_07 Camille Paglia on media

“Liberalism has sadly become a knee-jerk ideology, with people barricaded in their comfortable little cells. They think that their views are the only rational ones, and everyone else is not only evil but financed by the Koch brothers. It’s so simplistic!”

“Now let me give you a recent example of the persisting insularity of liberal thought in the media,” she said. “When the first secret Planned Parenthood video was released in mid-July, anyone who looks only at liberal media was kept totally in the dark about it, even after the second video was released.”

“It was a huge and disturbing story,” she continued, “but there was total silence in the liberal media. That kind of censorship was shockingly unprofessional. The liberal major media were trying to bury the story by ignoring it.”

“Now I am a former member of Planned Parenthood and a strong supporter of unconstrained reproductive rights. But I was horrified and disgusted by those videos and immediately felt there were serious breaches of medical ethics in the conduct of Planned Parenthood officials.”

“But here’s my point,” she concluded. “It is everyone’s obligation, whatever your political views, to look at both liberal and conservative news sources every single day. You need a full range of viewpoints to understand what is going on in the world.

Paglia also expressed her love for The Drudge Report and her deep respect for religion.

“All the great world religions contain a complex system of beliefs regarding the nature of the universe and human life that is far more profound than anything that liberalism has produced.  … I find it completely hypocritical for people in academe or the media to demand understanding of Muslim beliefs and yet be so derisive and dismissive of the devout Christian beliefs of Southern conservatives.”

MEDIA FAIL: Baby parts? What baby parts?

Planned Parenthood has hired a Democratic PR megafirm to handle its undercover video nightmare. I’m totes confident that not one penny of taxpayer money is going to pay said PR firm. (ha ha)

Given how pro-abortion the Left Stream Media is, one has to wonder how much actual bullying has been required.

BuzzFeed, Huffington Post, and Vox all specialize in reporting on anything that’s trending in social media. “Babies R Us” is definitely trending, yet none of the three has published a single story on the subject.

Major Garrett does his job

2015_07 Iran is still holding American hostage

At yesterday’s Iran deal presser, CBS’s Major Garrett asked Obama about the four Americans that Iran is still holding hostage and why their release wasn’t part of the overall agreement.  His Lordship was not pleased and snarled at Garrett, “You should know better.”

Garrett’s question and Obama’s response [3:30]

2015_07 15 Media humps WH - Iran presser

From Buck Sexton’s Facebook page:

President Obama’s response to Major Garrett today was snide, arrogant, and completely unbecoming of the Office of the President.

  • You can’t ask this President a real question without being scolded.
  • You can’t interrupt the administration’s victory dance on this calamitous Iran deal without being punished.
  • It’s preposterous to read the commentary from many on this who say the question was “disrespectful to Obama.”

First of all, the question was completely legitimate. Not everything is about how awesome Obama needs to look all the time.

But more importantly – with 5 seconds of searching, you can find the kind of questions the press used to ask of President Bush, like this undermining, loaded question tossed at him back in 2006 that accuses him of being a liar and a warmonger:

“QUESTION: I’d like to ask you, Mr. President — your decision to invade Iraq has caused the deaths of thousands of Americans and Iraqis, wounds of Americans and Iraqis for a lifetime.

Every reason given, publicly at least, has turned out not to be true. My question is: Why did you really want to go to war? From the moment you stepped into the White House, your Cabinet officers, former Cabinet officers, intelligence people and so forth — but what’s your real reason? You have said it wasn’t oil, the quest for oil. It hasn’t been Israel or anything else. What was it?”

That’s what disrespect looks like.

Media Bias: Ted Cruz gets it

DOGS and MEDIA BIAS

After a young staffer told Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz how “nice” a member of the media is, Cruz said he actually stopped the young man with a harsh reminder about the intentions of most reporters. “I actually stopped him and I said, ‘You know what? No, she’s not [nice]. She wants to destroy you. Nothing would make her happier than to take your life and filet you on the front pages. And don’t think for a minute that because she smiles and is friendly to you, that it’s anything else,’” Cruz said, sharing the story on The Glenn Beck Program. “Isn’t that pretty cynical?” Beck asked with a laugh. “I mean, I agree with you 100 percent, but it’s a little cynical!” Cruz responded that the mainstream media is full partisans who have “picked a team,” and “when the sheep are walking among coyotes, it pays to be cynical.” “You see Republicans when they’re interviewed by left-wing reporters, and they get afraid,” Cruz said. “They want them to like them. They are not going to like us! They hate us.” Cruz said he finds it amusing that, even though his father was imprisoned in Cuba for supporting Castro, sometimes the mainstream media tries to say other candidates are “more Hispanic” than he is, “because there’s nothing that makes you Hispanic like embracing the left-wing amnesty agenda.” “And look, that’s fine, the media is who they are,” Cruz concluded. “What we need to do when we deal with the media is speak the truth, but do it with a smile. Margaret Thatcher said, ‘First you win the argument, then you win the vote.’ The last several elections, we haven’t won the argument. We haven’t even made the argument.” Source: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/07/02/staffer-told-ted-cruz-he-thought-a-reporter-was-nice-the-gop-candidate-responded-with-harsh-advice/
