Business groups to Obama: Drop order on contractor disclosure

By Kevin Bogardus – 05/16/11 09:10 PM ET

http://thehill.com/business-a-lobbying/161573-business-coalition-tells-obama-to-abandon-draft-contractor-order

A coalition of more than 80 business groups told President Obama to “abandon” a draft executive order that would have government contractors disclose their political contributions. …

The letter comes as the draft order has fallen under heavy criticism from several Republicans, as well as a few Democrats. …

Democrats and the White House tried and FAILED to pass the Disclose Act last Congress, despite Democrats having a super-majority in the House and Senate.

In other words, opposition to this kind of political thuggery is bipartisan.

The Disclose Act was the Democrats’ response to the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision in January 2010 that allowed corporations to spend unlimited funds on political activities.

Since corporations tend to support Conservative Republicans, Democrats hated this decision. Obama was so miffed, he scolded the Justices on national television during his State of the Union. One of his classier moves (not).

As I understand it, Democrats’ big supporters … big unions like the NEA and SEIU and professional Leftist groups like ACORN and Planned Parenthood … were already allowed to donate the big bucks, most of which they got by ripping off taxpayers and nearly all of which they dumped into Democrat coffers to keep their taxpayer-funded gravy trains chugging along.

But it’s not about politics. It’s about Transparency in Government! (Riight.)

Herman Cain serves up Red-Meat-Lover’s Special, hold the identity politics By Jim Treacher | May 16, 2011

Black History Month is Herman Cain Playing the Race Minstrel for CPAC By Chauncey DeVega – February 12, 2011

http://blogs.alternet.org/speakeasy/2011/02/12/black-history-month-is-herman-cain-playing-the-race-minstrel-for-cpac/

You can just go read them for yourselves, though I would suggest you don HazMat before getting near the DeVega article. Brrr.

Treacher says:

The more I listen to Herman Cain, the more I like him. Which I guess only counts if you think likability is a factor in electing a president. And, being of a mischievous mind, I can just imagine how he’d confound the race-obsessed left as an opponent. “Holy crap, what do we do? This guy is so black, he makes Obama look like Edgar Winter’s bloodless corpse half-buried in a snowbank. Begin Operation: Clarence Thomas!”

Chrissy’s Site Bites: http://news.webshots.com/photo/2652055660056011884cYkyMP

I love this bit by Treacher:

[The race-obsessed left] can’t fathom that people could actually be drawn to Cain by who he is and what he says, not which box he checks under “Race.” It might actually be about… oh, what was that thing called? Oh yeah: the content of his character.

Treacher then links to the puke-making “Black History Month is Herman Cain Playing the Race Minstrel for CPAC” which he cites as “an example of the sort of thing we can expect” will be thrown at Cain in coming months.

The author is described as the “editor and founder of the blog We Are Respectable Negroes.” Given the way he talks, I have to rather resent his usurpation of the term “respectable”, especially since I’m related to a black man who really is.

Among other things, Mr. I’m A Racist Black Man refers to black conservatives as “black garbage pail kids … because of how they entertain and perform for their White Conservative masters.” He also goes on equating Cain speaking at CPAC with “a carnival and a roadshow for reactionary Conservatives.” He really lays it on thick … “freak show, the human zoo, the boardwalk, and the great midway world’s fairs of the 19th and 20th centuries [where] Herman Cain and his black and brown kin are that featured attraction.”

Anyone know the best way to get that puke in the back of your mouth taste to go away?

Then he gets really ugly and drags in Catholics to boot. (He also, by the way, gets the theology wrong, the ignorant schmuck.)

Herman Cain’s shtick is a version of race minstrelsy where he performs “authentic negritude” as wish fulfillment for White Conservative fantasies. Like the fountain at Lourdes, Cain in his designated role as black Conservative mascot, absolves the White racial reactionaries at CPAC of their sins. This is a refined performance that Black Conservatives have perfected over many decades and centuries of practice.

I wonder if, in his summary paragraph, we don’t get to that nugget of Coulter Truth — i.e., that we can see what Leftists are thinking and doing by listening to what they accuse us of.  (Sorry for using a preposition to end a sentence with.)

We always need a monkey in the window, for he/she reminds us of our humanity while simultaneously reinforcing a sense of our own superiority. Sadly, there are always folks who are willing to play that role because it pays so well.

Is that what makes you A Respectable Negro, Mr. Pseudonymous Vega?  That you are a tolerant and open-minded liberal Democrat? Just like the piece of toe jam that published this?

Chrissy’s Site Bites: http://news.webshots.com/photo/2546064640056011884KQMjoq

I’ve been giving this thing a lot of thought and it seems to me that when Leftists say they are open-minded and tolerant, what they really mean is that they are civil toward everybody who thinks exactly the way they do … and they hate everybody else.

This basically boils down to them being just like every other human being who has ever trod the planet.  My tribe vs your tribe. Nyah nyah, I won’t pick you for my team. Who was it who said … so what if you love the people who love you? Even gentiles do that!

It’s not my imagination that the Left actually revels in their hate, is it? I mean … they BRAG about having shouted down or spit on or thrown tomatoes at conservative speakers and they publish and broadcast the most racist and misogynistic trash in the same venues where they flay conservatives for IMPLIED sins against Political Correctness and Civility. It’s like they’re really PROUD of being foul-mouthed and narrow-minded.

IMHO, this is one of the key issues that makes real Christians DIFFERENT. Jesus told us to love our enemies and do good to those who persecute us. I try. I struggle against the angry feelings and dark thoughts I have about the Left, especially when it touches on Obama’s misuse of the military. Nothing makes my Mama Grizzly rise up with blood in her eye more than something that threatens my kids and I pray often to have the grace to hate the sin and love the sinner.

I guess being hated is part of the deal, though, right? Jesus told us it was. ::sigh::

Anyway, when I was googling for graphics material, I found this site. Great lot of book titles here!

These two caught my eye in particular:

Blacks, Whites & Racist Democrats: The Untold History of Race and Politics within the Democratic Party from 1792-2009

Why are most blacks in America Democrats? You will have to answer that question yourself. After reading this book, you will understand that:

  • for over 150 years, blacks were victims of terrorist attacks by the Democrats and their Klan supporters, including lynching, beating, rapes and mutilations
  • On the issue of slavery, the Democrats literally gave their lives to expand it; the Republicans gave their lives to ban it.
  • Many believed the Democrats had a change of heart and fell in love with blacks. To the contrary, history reveals the democrats didn’t fall in love with black folks, they fell in love with the black vote knowing this would be their ticket into the white house.

Unveiling the Whole Truth: What the media failed to tell American voters

In this new and exciting fact-finding book, Perrryman re-examines the coverage of major news stories and through a series of editorials he reveals important information the media should have included – but chose to exclude.

After completing his research, Perryman is convinced that the mainstream media is not very fond of Blacks, Christians and those who called themselves “Conservative.” he proves his point by Unveiling the Whole Truth. Based on the research contained in this book, he believes the media’s headlines should have read:

  • Democrats convinced Bush & others that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
  • The Katrina disaster: it started before Bush took office.
  • Bringing the troops home: a fatal mistake according to history.
  • The war over oil? More important than a war over weapons of mass destruction.
  • The so-called separation of Church & State: Never happened.
  • The race card: The liberals played it to launch the abortion movement in America.
  • Bush: a true friend of blacks and the poor.

One hopes the Donald is “wise enough to play the fool” and not another Ross Perot. I love that he’s getting the birth certificate talked about, but I can’t even begin to take him seriously as a real candidate.

Waivers for everyone!

posted by Bob

Last time I checked, about a hundred companies, a whole gaggle of unions, and several states had requested and received Obamacare waivers. Twenty-six states (or is it twenty-seven? I lose count) have sued to have the law struck down, and at least one governor has announced that he will not implement Obamacare in his state. So far, two federal judges have declared the law unconstitutional.

You want to know what else is unconstitutional? This business of handing out waivers to certain favored people and groups, but denying them to others. I was born during the Eisenhower administration, when school children still studied the U.S. Constitution, so I know the state cannot legally deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. If some folks are granted waivers, while others are denied them, that is a clear violation of the equal protection guarantee.

Obamacare is one of the worst ideas ever to be jammed down the throats of an unwilling populace. If Congress does not repeal it, or the Supreme Court does not strike it down, then all of us should flood Washington DC with demands for waivers. If we don’t receive them, then we should initiate one hell of a gigantic class action lawsuit, claiming that we were denied equal protection of the law.

That’s my prescription.
