    I caught Conan’s monologue last night making fun of Bachmann’s gaffe about John Wayne (who was born in Iowa, just not in the town she mentioned). No Conan, John Wayne GACY was born in Chicago, not in Waterloo, IA.

    Why do comedians have to make stuff up to be funny? I used to be a fan of his too 😦

    The more they attack Bachmann, the more I like her. I wasn’t a fan before really but if they keep it up I may have to vote for her in the primary.

    It is a little bit difficult to imagine that the kid in the airport video initiated the altercation by punching someone in the face, since he doesn’t even try to fight back. He’s a real scrapper, that one! Also, the police say he smelled of alcohol and couldn’t recall the details of the incident. Ummmm…his head was just smashed into a cement pillar. I’m just sayin’.

    What I want to know is why her gigantic limo is virtually parked right across the crosswalk. Anyone else would have been chased off for parking there. She didn’t even pull out of the traffic lane. I guess some people are just created more equal than others.

      Who are these people funding him anyway? Would those $35,000 per plate rubber chicken fundraising dinners keep NPR/PBS on the air?

      Gracie, I think you’d be doing him a favor, since being president appears to just be exacerbating all his worst traits. As much as I want to spit nails over many of his decisions, esp the one about the Afghanistan withdrawal GRRR, I feel bad for him whenever I think about where he’s headed for eternity.

      If you haven’t read 23 Minutes in Hell … I recommend it. It puts a whole new spin on “Love the sinner, hate the sin.”

      Another gem is The Hiding Place by C. ten Boom. In one scene, she and her sister are freezing in the daily line-up at the concentration camp where they were being punished for hiding Jews. Betsy starts muttering prayers for those poor people and Corie thinks she’s praying for their fellow victims.

      When she realizes Betsy is praying for the NAZIs, she’s really bothered about it. Betsy’s explanation is classic. It really changed my attitude toward mine enemies, particularly the ones in powerful positions.

    Obama as Secretary General of the UN is all the more reason to get the heck out of there. Really, there is so little credibility at that organization any more, and it all started for me with the “Oil for Food” scandal.

      It started for me with their enthusiastic promotion of population control programs and pushing sterilization and abortion on women in third world countries. The whole organization is a huge fraud and it continually amazes me how many seemingly intelligent people still think it’s a force for good in the world. In that respect it closely resembles Planned Parenthood, another organization with a good reputation that it does not deserve.
