The House passed a bill containing an amendment defunding the Energy Department’s standards for traditional incandescent light bulbs to be 30 percent more energy efficient starting next year.
The spending bill containing the amendment now goes to the Senate where it hopefully has a good shot of passing, since Democrats are unlikely to filibuster a spending bill just to block a politically popular amendment on light bulb standards.
