Thank you, Chrissy! I especially like how you added the names of who was in charge of the House and Senate at the time. Could I ask for just one tweak? I liked how your earlier version of this graph carried the light red “Republican Majority” and light blue “Democrat Majority” background colors up into the graph itself… I see that the graph grid lines carry those colors now, but it was very effective, I thought, when the background itself was colored.. it really emphasized the transition of majority power from Republican to Democrat in January 2007.
When we get updated numbers for May, could you make a version for me that includes the May number and the combination of your new features and the old background coloring? I’d really appreciate it! 🙂

ITA. The names improve the graph, but the old background was better. I am putting this in my FIX folder to do a May update with the best of both. If you could remind me, that would be good too :). Do you get the numbers in an email update or track them in some way? I don’t and could really do with a heads up and URL when they come out. Thanks!

They HAVE to be cooking the books. There is no way that the Employment-population ratio improved by 0.2 when only 69,000 jobs were added (less than the growth of the population). Common sense tells you that the ratio should have gone down, not up.

Speaking of Obama and Bush, remember this?
The spending numbers per Fiscal Year were accurate, but Rex’s claims (which were echoed by Obama himself!) were based on blaming Bush for FY 2009 spending that was passed by the Nancy Pelosi House, Harry Reid Senate, and signed by Obama, not Bush!

And now, Rex has been caught deleting comments that reveal the truth about Government outlays during the Obama administration:

Use Excel to Average the numbers and find that post-WWII,
Average Total Outlays, as a % of GDP, across FY 1947-2012:

Average Total Outlays, as a % of GDP, over the six years of Bush with a Republican Congress (FY 2002-2007):
19.7%
So, spending by Bush and the Republican Congress was actually BELOW AVERAGE.
Once Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Biden, Hillary Clinton, and the rest of the Democratic Socialists took majority control of the budgeting and spending process, spending skyrocketed to the highest that it has been since World War II…

Observations from the Employment-Population Ratio…
The 1-2 punch of the Dot Com Bust and the 9/11 attacks put the economy in recession and caused employment to decline.
The second part of the “Bush Tax Cuts” were signed May 28, 2003,
The low point of the Bush Republican majority years was 62.0 in September 2003.
From that point until the transition of majority power, employment grew.
Conclusion: the Bush Tax Cuts turned the economy around and improved employment.
Under the Democratic majority, the ratio fell back below the Republican majority low point (i.e., fell below 62.0) in September 2008 and has never regained that level.
When the May numbers are released, we will have gone 45 straight months below the Republican majority low point (i.e., fell below 62.0).
Under the Democratic majority, the ratio has hit a low of 58.2 on several occasions: Dec 2009, Nov 2010, June and July 2011, and it has not been above 58.7 since August 2009…
When the May numbers are released, we will have gone 45 straight months below the Republican majority low point (i.e., fell below 62.0), and 33 straight months below 59.0.

Employment-Population Ratio that is lower than every single month of the Bush administration.

Isn’t it sickening how the propagandists continue to say the economy was Bush’s fault, even though we had a demoncrat congress and senate from day one of the slide.What I do blame Bush for, is never speaking out in his defense. He is still sitting on his hands. I have no respect for his silence on defending his record.

The propagandists blame bush for everything that happened in 2008 and even up through September 30, 2009! (Rex Nutting’s propaganda blames Bush for almost all of the FY 2009 spending, even though all of that spending was passed by the Nancy Pelosi House, Harry Reid Senate, and a majority of it was signed by Obama in 2009, not Bush in 2008. So I agree with your first sentence.
And I understand where you are coming from in your other three sentences. President Bush was, and is, a gentleman and statesman. It is not his nature to call out the Democrats’ lies. I can understand that he is trying to keep the role of President Emeritus above party politics. I know how much it frustrated him to have former Presidents commenting on political issues during his own Presidency.
Again, I understand where you are coming from, but at this point it is our role, not his, to spread the truth. And the truth is that the Democrats have been in the driver’s seat since January 2007. They are the ones who drove the economy into the ditch over the course of their first 2 and a half years, and have kept it there for nearly 3 years.
