Obama refused to personally rally on behalf of the public sector unions in Wisconsin, literally flying over the state on the critical days before the Governor Walker’s recall election.
To add insult to injury, when asked why he didn’t go to Wisconsin, the President claimed he was too busy, which was a total lie. He was on a record fundraising spree … NINE events in the four days prior to the election … some of them in States right next door to Wisconsin.
He had plenty of time to keep his promise to “put on comfortable shoes” and show some moral support to the unions who worked so hard and spent so much to help him win the presidency in 2008. He just couldn’t be bothered. And now he’s going to pay.
A recent Gallup poll shows that union members understand Obama threw them under the bus.
2008 union members voted: Obama 67% vs. McCain 30%
2012 union members prefer: Obama 57% vs. Romney 35%
And the AFL-CIO has decided to shift funds away from political candidates, including President Obama. A union spokesman said, “We wanted to start investing our funds in our own infrastructure and advocacy.” In 2008, this same union built up a massive political structure in the months leading up the election, including extensive “Get Out The Vote” efforts, as well as financial contributions to help Obama and his fellow Democrats win their super majority.
In other cheerful news, Rasmussen shows a 16% increase (44% in 2008 vs. 60% now) in the number of Likely Voters who believe the next President will likely be a Republican.
And on May 30, 2012, Moveon dot org sent out a rather desperate-sounding begging letter saying,
“If we can’t increase our budget, we might have to dramatically scale back or pull the plug on some of MoveOn’s most important election efforts this year. … Click here to chip in $5 and help MoveOn take on more campaigns this election season. … In 2008, MoveOn was one of the first groups to endorse President Obama, and we then recruited 1 million volunteers who went door to door, made phone calls, and helped provide the surge of grassroots support necessary to elect Obama.”
After what they did to General Petraeus, seeing them begging for fivers is just too too sweet!

Go on MoveOn.org – pull the plug on those election efforts. I’ll believe it when I see it.

A big reason the unions are getting away from funding politicians because they WERE impacted from the fact that MANY union members have signed their individual contributions are not to be used for politics of any party. This was a “member” decision. That is a lot of voters who decided it was not important enough to use their own money/dues for the Democrat?Obama Dynasty. Yipee.

Oh, and it is just smoke and mirrors, when the Union Leaders say no more funding politics. Can they really be trusted with the dues? Even when members sign off? Once members forget enough to not pay attention, the money will be going right back where ever the Leaders want it to go.

I thought the statement was mealy mouthed enough to qualify as “We’ll do whatever we want with the dues, but at the moment, we’re pissed at the Obama Democrats, so plan to punish them, only we aren’t going to come right out and say so, in case they get the message and get card check passed or something.”
