THE TUESDAY GRUDGE–WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

As I watched the debate last night I was dumbfounded as to why Romney was not blistering Obama on Benghazi,Iran and so many other foreign policy failings.It seemed like he wanted to be his bestest buddy,agreeing on a lot of what Obama was asserting.It was not until later,when numerous pundits offered their opinions and I watched some of the clips that go up on youtube, almost instantly  realized what Romney did was pure genius.

Obama came in itching for a fight,wanting to put as much distance as he could between the two of them and labeling Romney as the second coming of George Bush.All he ultimately accomplished was to come across as rude,condescending,ill-tempered and overall a gigantic phallus.As he went through his histrionics,Romney just smiled politely,no doubt thinking:just keep talking,pal,you’re hanging yourself and you don’t even realize it.The far left were hungry for this type of overt aggression,but it could not have played well with more rational people.

Romney managed to steer the debate from foreign policy back to the economy,which is by far the most important consideration for nearly the whole electorate.Still,he did his research and was prepared for any policy question that came up.He came across as calm,rational,intelligent,a far cry from the divisive style of the current occupant of the People’s House.We will know in a short 14 days which path our nation will tread.I’m more optimistic as the time of judgment draws near.

      Thanks for posting this, Pete. I wasn’t able to watch the debate last night due to a scheduling conflict, so I’m going to try to watch it now — we’ll see how long I last before I throw a brick through the screen.

      “Chris Matthews’s panelists praised moderator Bob Schieffer’s ability to get Romney ‘to be quiet.’ Apparently it’s the job of the moderator to keep the Republican docile during debates.”

      That about sums it up. Who the hell cares about impartiality?

      Apparently, Obama’s sneering at, interrupting, and talking over, under and around his opponent when it wasn’t his turn wasn’t “flagrant disrespect.” It’s probably just what Romney deserved, being an evil Republican and all.

      Obama says it is time “for nation building” here at home. What does that say about his first term? It implies that he razed the place and now has to rebuild it. This is not a very reassuring task to assign to an incumbent.

    I think Romney is looking at internal polls and feeling very confident.
    What I saw last night was a man who thinks he has already won the presidency vs. a man who was desperate to keep his job because he is afraid of what his wife will do if she loses the free maid service.

    Dear Governor Romney,

    I’m writing this letter to you the morning after the last of the presidential debates to apologize to you personally for doing absolutely everything I could think of for four years to stop you from becoming the 2012 Republican nominee. I really didn’t know a thing about you, except that you had a lot of kids, were Governor of Massachusetts, and looked like an old movie star…and that you came in second last time to John McCain and somehow I got it into my head that this should have disqualified you from running again this year (or that it meant you’d repeat McCain’s anemic campaign and not even try to give Barack Obama a run for his money). Boy, was I stupid..because after these debates and the campaign you’ve run I have come to realize you’re one of the best political strategists I’ve ever studied…and you are a man who has clearly answered the call of duty when our country needed you the most.         Yeah I know HB is only one boy, but hey, we live and learn. I truly hope Kevin finds his way. He has a lot of talent and incredible passion. It is too bad he drove us all away.
