BANKMAN-FRIED: Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange FTX, has been jailed after a federal judge learned he had attempted to influence witnesses who are poised to testify against him.

CALIFORNICATION: Thugs bum-rushed the Nordstrom store at the Westfield Topanga Mall in Los Angeles, attacking security guards with bear spray and running away with $60K to $100K worth of goods.

CDC: In April, about 1,800 CDC staffers and others attended a COVID-19 conference. The CDC said, “The goals were to learn more about transmission that occurred and add to our understanding as we transition to the next phase of COVID-19 surveillance and response.”

On the last day of the conference, several people notified organizers that they had tested positive for COVID-19. So the CDC and the Georgia Department of Public Health surveyed the attendees. Among the 80% who responded were 183 who said they had tested positive for COVID-19. All of them also said they had been vaccinated.

Of the 1,800 attendees who presumably all had some compelling interest in the coronavirus transmission, surveillance, and respond, 360 did not bother to fill out and return the survey.

Of the 80% who responded to the survey, 601 said that, despite having learned there was an outbreak at the conference, they had not bothered to test themselves for COVID-19. Among these were 34 who reported experiencing COVID-like symptoms.

To add to the idiocy, the survey only asked respondents, “Have you been vaccinated?”, but not when or with which serums.

HAWAII: The wildfires continue to burn on Maui. So far, 93 deaths have been confirmed with hundreds more still missing. The estimate of the property damage is $6 billion, most of it to residential properties.

A number of billionaires own huge estates on Maui. Oprah Winfrey has been handing out pillows and other supplies. And Jeff Bezos has announced that he and his fiancee are setting up a $100 million relief fund. As for the rest, …. ::crickets::

HUNTER: “I was not involved in my son’s business dealings” is the new “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” Next up: “It depends on what the meaning of is is.”

TRUMP HISTORY: There is a new Twitter account where somebody has inserted The Donald into numerous historical events. Some of them are really well done.

Scientology Stuff

I kinda got lost down a Scientology rabbit hole. What can I say? I think cults are fascinating. So for whatever interest you might have …

Quotations from L. Ron Hubbard’s books and speeches.

  • This is useful knowledge. With it the blind again see, the lame walk, the ill recover, the insane become sane and the sane become saner.
  • Arthritis vanishes, myopia gets better, heart illness decreases, asthma disappears, stomachs function properly and the whole catalog of illnesses goes away and stays away.
  • Leukemia is evidently psychosomatic in origin and at least eight cases of leukemia had been treated successfully by Dianetics after medicine had traditionally given up. The source of leukemia has been reported to be an engram containing the phrase ‘It turns my blood to water.’ Scientology is the only specific (cure) for radiation (atomic bomb) burns.
  • You are only three or four hours from taking your glasses off for keeps.
  • Of all the ills of man which can be successfully processed by Scientology, arthritis ranks near the top. In skilled hands, this ailment, though misunderstood and dreaded in the past, already has begun to become history.
  • Not smoking enough will cause lung cancer!

A huge goal for Scientologists is to achieve the state of “Clear.” The Scientology site says, “Clear is the name of a state achieved through auditing and describes a being who no longer has his own reactive mind, the hidden source of irrational behavior, unreasonable fears, upsets and insecurities. Without a reactive mind, individuals regain their basic personality, self-determinism and, in essence, become much, much more themselves.

The full glory of the state of Clear has no comparable description in any writings existing in our culture. It is a goal Man has dreamed of achieving for more than 2500 years, yet the state of Clear is far above anything anyone even conceived of previously. Indeed, that one could become something far higher and better than a human being, personally and in a single lifetime, is a brand-new concept.

CLICK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfF9vGqfrA0 [4:43] to hear a former Scientologist explain what it was like to attain the state of “Clear.”

According to knowledgeable ex-Scientologists, the cult is all about the money. The beginner courses cost around $650 each, then as you go up the “Bridge”, the price per course escalates into the thousands. In addition, you have to cough up $800/hour for auditing and packages of L. Ron Hubbard’s books. A package of books costs, on average, $4,000.

People can easily spend more than $100,000 getting to “Clear.” After that, they move on to the OT “Operating Thetan” levels, which are even more expensive. Mike Rinder, who was once something like #3 in the organization, says people spend literally decades working on OT VII, the second highest level possible. Doing OT VII costs approximately $30,000 — $40,000 per year.

Even if you reach the top level – OT VIII – chances are you’re looking at additional courses and more spending, because they constantly rewrite stuff to force people to buy the latest updates. Unless you leave, of course, but if you do and you don’t keep your mouth firmly shut about Scientology, they will use all their ill-gotten gains to persecute you and your loved ones, stalking, slandering, filing lawsuits, and even poisoning your pets.

As far as I can figure out, the “hidden source” of everyone’s “irrational behavior, unreasonable fears, upsets and insecurities” lie in traumatic events that happened to the “Thetan” that inhabits your “meat body.” One example is the “Ice Cube Incident” in which aliens in flying saucers packed your Thetan in ice and dumped it (your true self) into one of Earth’s oceans. One clue that your Thetan experienced an “Ice Cube Incident” is that you have chronically cold hands and feet. The Wikipedia link below describes other “incidents” that make the “Ice Cube Incident” sound sane by comparison.

CLICK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06hBaT15g6c [9:05] to hear Scientology’s creation myth. This is the stuff that Scientologists don’t learn until after they’ve spent decades and tens of thousands of dollars immersed in the cult of LRH’s insane sci fi world. It only got out when angry Scientologists braved the cult’s vicious retribution to make it all public.

I try to end my posts with something sweet and/or funny, so special warning here. THIS isn’t that. Pray before you CLICK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ueO2DfhBFE [1:28:50]. The testimony of this woman who grew up in the cult is deeply disturbing.

CHICOMS: A physician and refugee from the communist regime details the widespread harvesting of human organs from living victims. These human cattle are primarily Falun Gong practitioners who are imprisoned and type tested so they can be harvested as needed. If you’re important enough, you can get a new organ within a month of your diagnosis. The first time Dr. Zheng encountered the practice, he was an intern who was forced to participate in harvesting organs from a live, wide awake “donor.” His job was to help hold the man still while surgeons removed his kidneys and eyeballs. He died during the procedure.

IVERMECTIN: Three doctors allege the FDA unlawfully interfered with their practice of medicine with the hostile statements about ivermectin. The case is currently being heard in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.

For example, on Aug. 21, 2021, the FDA tweeted, “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.” The post, which linked to an FDA page that says people shouldn’t use ivermectin to prevent or treat COVID-19, went viral. In other statements, the FDA said that ivermectin “isn’t authorized or approved to treat COVID-19” and “Q: Should I take ivermectin to prevent or treat COVID-19? A: No.

The DOJ lawyer representing the FDA opined that the “FDA explicitly recognizes that doctors do have the authority to prescribe ivermectin to treat COVID.”

Circuit Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod asked, “What about when it said, ‘No, stop it’? Why isn’t that a command? If you were in English class, they would say that was a command.”

The DOJ lawyers said the statements were “merely quips.”

Hmmm … I remember that, during the pandemic, I asked my primary what support he was willing to provide if we got the disease. He specifically told me he would not prescribe ivermectin, because “We don’t think it’s … “ then he paused and just said, “No.” I’ve often wondered if he didn’t finish his sentence, because he wasn’t entirely convinced the FDA was being honest. But he also wasn’t going to risk his license over it … which other doctors did do to save their patients.

Bits & Bytes

2020 VOTER FRAUD: On October 8, 2020, one month before the 2020 general election, Muskegon, Michigan, City Clerk Ann Meisch noticed a Black female dropping off between 8,000-10,000 completed voter registration applications at the city clerk’s office. The Muskegon Police Department was contacted and asked to investigate. They, in turn, brought in the Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office and the State Police.

The suspect told investigators she was being paid “to find un-registered voters and provide them with a form so they can get registered to vote or obtain their absentee ballot.” On its own, that’s probably not illegal. However, thousands of the voter registrations she turned in had been filled out by the same person and contained invalid or non-existent addresses and phone numbers, and fake signatures.

The investigation was turned over to the FBI … who gave it the same rigorous attention they gave Hunter Biden’s laptop. And, to this day, people who were intimately involved continue to lie and claim there was never any evidence of widespread voter fraud in Michigan.

But the problem didn’t just occur in Michigan. Investigators turned up evidence that a Tennessee-based group called GBI Strategies was behind not just the Michigan voter fraud machine, but similar operations in several other swing states. GBI Strategies, which has been in operation since 2014, is heavily connected to the Biden campaign and various Democrat campaign committees.

CANADA: A 37-year-old Vancouver woman went to the hospital seeking help with debilitating feelings of hopelessness and suicidality. The clinician told her psychiatrists were in short supply in British Columbia’s ‘broken’ health system and offered to help her commit suicide legally with their handy dandy MAID program. The woman declined. Vancouver General Hospital says it followed the correct procedures and apologized for any distress caused

FBI: Last February, somebody leaked an internal FBI memo revealing that the fibbies in Richmond, VA, were targeting so-called ‘radicalized‘ Catholics, which, according to them, are people who like the Latin Mass and believe that abortion and LGBTQ lifestyles are sinful. The memo stated that the alleged threat posed by people holding to such dangerous ideas could grow “in the run-up to the next general election cycle.

When Director Wray was asked about it, he said it was just a single rogue field office and wasn’t reflective of the FBI in general. So imagine our surprise (not) when the Judiciary Committee obtained and shared the full memo, which revealed that Wray was totally lying. The Los Angeles and Portland offices were also involved.

I’m not holding my breath waiting on anybody to fix this.

GENESIUS TIMES: I’m thinking this might be one of those satire stories that ends up being more prophetic than ridiculous. – “WASHINGTON, DC—The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – NOAA – said on Friday that the next tropical storm will be named for the transgender community and will be called They/Them.

HAWAII: Prayers needed for victims of the three wildfires that hit Maui on Tuesday. By Thursday morning, authorities were reporting that at least 36 had been killed. Wrongs are predictably blaming climate change. Scientists say the increase in wildfires in Hawaii in recent decades is due to people planting non-native grasses that are dry and prone to fires. ILLINOIS: On August 6, Judicial Watch reported that 14% of Illinois’ counties have more registered voters on their voter rolls than they have citizens of legal voting age living there. In addition, the entire state has close to 800,000 inactive voters still registered. Federal law requires counties to maintain accurate voter records.

MUSHROOMS: Mushrooms contain a lot of water. If they are stored in a way that traps moisture, they’ll spoil quickly. Store them on a shelf in the fridge, not in the hydrator, either in a paper bag or else loosely wrapped in a paper towel inside an open plastic bag. Once they get slimy, mushy and/or black, throw them out.

AFGHANISTAN: The Biden administration has provided more than $2.35 billion in taxpayer dollars to Afghanistan since the Taliban retook control of the government in 2021.

BIDEN CRIME FAMILY: Bank records released on Aug. 9 show that, while Joe was Obama’s VP, Hunter and other family members and their associates were paid more than $20 million by Russian, Ukrainian, and Kazakhstan nationals.

DIGITAL CURRENCY: In yet another step toward fulfilling St. John’s prophetic messages, four major Australian banks are forbidding customers from taking cash out of their accounts. FIRST AMENDMENT: Alliance Defending Freedom is representing Liam Morrison, a Massachusetts boy who was told he could not wear his t-shirts to his middle school. When the one that said, “There are only two genders” was banned, he got one that said, “There are [censored] genders.” Despite the fact that the school allows other students to wear t-shirts promoting virtually anything, the U.S. District Court for Eastern Massachusetts upheld the school’s decision. ADF immediately filed an appeal to take the case to the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

Users have until Aug. 25 to claim part of the settlement. Go to settlement webpage. The application is easy.

IOWA: The state’s new school choice program allows parents to put up to $7,600 of their education tax dollars into paying for alternatives to the public schools. The state projected there would be about 14,000 approved applicants for this first year of the program. So far, there are 18,600.

MASSACHUSETTS: In March 2022, 25 families per day were seeking shelter; in March 2023, it was 68 and by July it had gone to more than 100. Their shelters are full, so the state taxpayers are currently financing 1,800 families to live in hotels or motels. Poor, poor blue state having to finally cope with the mess Biden made.

OHIO: Sadly, Issue #1 failed, likely due to million$ that pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood and the ACLU poured into campaigning against it. If it had passed, it would have raised the states voting threshold for constitutional amendments from 50/50 to 60/40. In November, Ohioans are due to vote on an amendment to make abortion in the state a “constitutional right.

In another loss for traditional values in Ohio, a federal judge has upheld a policy in an Ohio school district that allows students to use bathrooms based on their self-identified gender, rather than biological sex.

TEXAS: Gov. Abbott has signed new legislation will requiring public institutions of higher education to limit participation in athletic events to members of the same biological sex.

VERMONT: In February, a woman who had been a victim of sex trafficking for nearly 30 years testified before a State Senate committee about how a pro-life Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC) saved her life and the life of her son. Legislators didn’t care. In May, Vermont Republican Gov. Phil Scott signed a bill into law branding PRCs “limited-services pregnancy centers” because they do not offer abortion and loads penalties on them for “false and misleading advertising about services.”

Dangerous Elitist Nonsense

CLICK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=905qoawcBuo [5:32] to hear an insane elected public official insist that she has a right to bar James O’Keefe from video recording a public meeting that is simultaneously being broadcast over Zoom where anyone can record it. While she was grumping at James, somebody else was scurrying off to call the cops on him.

And get a load of that superintendent’s $237,000/year salary! I looked up his bio. His first six years in education, he taught social studies. Then he was an assistant principal, then principal at various middle schools for ten years. And now he makes a quarter of a million dollars as superintendent of the Livingston Public Schools?! I’m guessing he also has a nifty benefits package with vacations, health plan, and pension. Nice “work” if you can get it.

His current #1 priority is wasting tax dollars on a “diversity audit” of the district aimed at “enhancing inclusiveness, cultural awareness, anti-racism and acceptance of individual differences through mandated curricular programming, extracurricular programming, and district operations.” Given that he’s a middle aged white male, I’m thinking he had better watch his back … unless “fat and overpaid” makes him a protected minority. Maybe he can put on a dress …

I looked for the auditing company, a2z equity coaching, on the internet. They claim to be “leaders” in their field. Their Facebook page has zero followers, zero likes, and nearly zero content. It does direct one to their web page, which actually does have zero content. Their Instagram page has zero posts and 41 followers. The company appears to be comprised of two Black women, Shelley Zion, Ph.D., and Janelle Alexander, Ph.D. Below are blurbs from their LinkedIn bios.

“Dr. Shelley Zion is CEO and Executive Coach at a2z Equity Coaching, Professor of Urban Education at Rowan University, and the Executive Director of the PEER (Partnerships for Educational Equity & Research) Lab. … Her research is situated within a framework of sociopolitical development, informed by a range of critical theoretical perspectives, and advanced by an understanding of the nature of both individual and systemic change. This framework requires that to impact a transformation of social systems towards goals of equity and social justice, we must work to disrupt dominant ideologies by creating spaces in which people begin to develop a critical understanding of the cultural, political, economic, and other institutional forces that perpetuate systems of privilege and oppression.” Blah blah Marxist blah.

“Dr. Janelle Alexander is an a2z Equity Coach, Consultant, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Professional, Researcher, Leadership Developer, Community Builder & Connector, and Thought Partner. … Dr. Alexander brings a wealth of experience in writing and securing government grants to obtain funding. … As a polished public speaker and instructor, Dr. Alexander excels in relating effectively to individuals from diverse backgrounds and at all levels, fostering a sense of community and connection.” So … good at sucking at the government’s teat and spinning lies so they sound warm and cozy.

Spiritual Stuff

If you can find time (hint: make time), CLICK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnA_I7Yc3wg [3:02:36] to hear a three hour interview with Fr. Carlos Martins.

Also, CLICK https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2a-B4wpSYJc to hear a quick message from Father Mike about asking God for what we need.

I wasted a lot of time demanding God tell me WHY things were so hard for me. I’m thinking now that the answers to a lot of our “Why?” prayers are “You wouldn’t understand it if I told you” or maybe “None of your business.”

Anyway … the point is that I started getting better results when I stopped ranting at Him and started humbly asking Him more immediate “show me” prayers like “How do you want me to handle this?” or “What do you want me to do next about this?

One recent example … I was having a particularly bad day with my chronic illness/disability. I had finally gotten up and dressed after 2 days in bed, but I was so tired and in so much pain that I couldn’t really think of anything I wanted or needed to do. I was at my desk and prayed (whined is more like it), “What do you want me to do now?” The answer was so FAST. “Mass.” I didn’t feel like it, but I clicked CatholicTV and, wouldn’t you know, the readings were about people whining.

In the OT reading, the Israelites were sick of manna, but instead of asking God what to do, Moses went on a big long rant at God about how he’d be better off dead than having to listen to His people complain.

Then, in the NT reading, the disciples told Jesus to stop talking and send the people away to buy food for themselves and He said, “Feed them yourself.” Unlike Moses, they got it right and instead of ranting about how unreasonable Jesus was being and how difficult it was to follow Him, they asked, “How can we do that when we only have five loaves and two fish?” And Jesus showed them.

His answers are not always about praying more either. Later that same day, I was again feeling at odd ends and asked Him again what He wanted me to do. He told me to lie down and read my novel for a while.

Alesia Williams, an official in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), said she did a search for relevant documents and got 1,263 pages of potential hits. “After a careful review of these records, I determined the 1,263 pages were not relevant to your request.” IOW, there is not a single record supporting Secretary Becerra’s public recommendation for up to six ‘rona jabs per year.

Pete McGinnis, a spokesman for FGI, said in a statement, “How can the public be assured that the agency is ‘following the science’ on other important public health matters when it demonstrates such clear disregard for basic scientific integrity standards on an issue as important as COVID vaccine shots?

FGI also noted that Becerra is a lawyer with no background in health and that typically his department is led by doctors.

THE ROAD TO PERDITION

The following is by Mim: I was deeply involved in Tibetan Buddhism for 35 years, and now at the end of my Buddhist path I am experiencing extreme mental and physical torment. Tantric Buddhism is supposed to be a path of peace that leads to enlightenment, a state of mind both blissful and beyond suffering.

Having been raised Catholic, I had faith and devotion in Jesus Christ, but I drifted away from the church when I was 15 years old and was agnostic until I encountered Tibetan Buddhism in my early 20s. This religion placed huge emphasis on the human guru who we were supposed to venerate as a living buddha. Besides the human guru, the yidam or “meditational deity” was of paramount importance.

I now believe that Tibetan Buddhism is a classic case of “Satan appearing as an angel of light.” Many of the gurus appeared beatific and were considered to be saints. My first teacher had many charisms including clairvoyance, healing, and divination. I personally witnessed his extraordinary abilities many times.

Rigorous training was required that challenged us to the fullest extent of our abilities. We had to learn the Tibetan language, adopt the Tibetan customs and worldview, learn to play the ritual instruments, study Buddhist philosophy, do preliminary practices that involved hundreds of thousands of prostrations, purification mantras, and thousands of invocations and mantras to become yoked with the guru’s mind. I was fully brainwashed.

The guru manipulated some of his nuns into sexual relations, while deceiving them about his intentions and pretending to be in a monogamous spiritual marriage with each of them. They say the bigger the lie, the easier it is to maintain. Most believed that he was a holy being, and a completely celibate monk. I prayed to become free of being his sexual slave, and he acknowledged it, but from that point on he began cursing me.

The next two years in the retreat were a living hell. I managed to escape from him and his Buddhist center, but we had been taught that if we abandoned our Buddhist practices, we would go to the worst hell imaginable. They continued to curse me and finally the head of the lineage and another sorcerer performed a ritual of annihilation on me using an effigy. By then, many Tibetan gurus had been publicly exposed for sexual, physical, and mind control abuses of their students. The Tibetans lamas were angry and sought revenge. I was targeted because I had begun to question the entire system. Satan doesn’t give anything for free. They saw me as a risk.

The Tibetans use black magic rituals against their perceived enemies, both human and in the spirit realm. These practices were not talked about or taught to their Western disciples. We were all brainwashed to believe that the gurus were great bodhisattvas incapable of harming even a flea. During the practice of guru yoga, I prayed to become inseparable with the body, speech, and mind of my Root Guru, and from that point on, I was unknowingly possessed by him and his familiar spirit (the meditational deity). They decided I had to be destroyed, and once the ritual with the effigy was performed, my life turned into a living hell. I was burned at night, stuck with sharp objects, and attacked in my bed by demons. The guru appeared in my room night after night ordering me to commit suicide.

At that point, I was fully possessed. My mind was fed with horrific images of what they were going to do to me after I died and was reborn in their hell. Then they began attacking my body, causing my stomach to blow up in real time. Several people saw it happening. One deity, who I now know to be the python spirit of divination–the kundalini spirit, was wrapped around my torso and was constantly squeezing me in an energetic stranglehold. The squeezing was accompanied by intense burning in the stomach and chest area.

When I refused to commit suicide, they threatened to kill me by inducing a heart attack or giving me cancer. During this time, I met a young man who was also suffering from kundalini possession, but since he had been Catholic, he started praying the rosary for himself and for me. For the first time, I started to feel a little better. He encouraged me to see an exorcist.

I was so deeply brainwashed in Buddhism that the thought of returning to the Catholic church seemed impossible. But I was struck by the fact that his prayers were helping. At the same time, I came across Msgr. Rossetti’s book, “Diary of an American Exorcist.” It made a huge impression on me. I reached out to him, and he prayed with me, and I began to feel some hope and relief for the first time in a year.

He encouraged me to go to confession and return to the Catholic faith and I did this. Slowly, over time, I regained some control over my life. I am still severely oppressed, and tortured at night, but it is less than before. I can work again, and there are moments in the day when I can even feel a little happiness in the simple things of life.

I have a long way to go before I am fully healed and delivered. They still control a portion of my mind. They control my dreams and subterranean thoughts. I now understand that I made a pact with Satan and that the occult is Satan’s domain. I wish to warn anyone who is tempted to explore other religions to be extremely careful. There is only one God, and He is the God of the Holy Bible. I wish to warn others before they unwittingly become ensnared in one of Satan’s traps. I have created a website to this end.

BARBIE: CLICK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ28EZBpWwM and click to 15:43 to hear conservative Catholic Michael Knowles talk about why he loved the movie. He almost makes me want to watch it.

CANCEL CULTURE: NASCAR driver Noah Gragson has been suspended indefinitely for “liking” a George Floyd meme/song on Instagram.

CLICK https://twitter.com/stillgray/status/1687954637239009280 [2/53] to hear the “Under the Sea” parody. It’s not funny or profound, but apparently Gragson and 77,600 other people saw something “like-able” in it.

But, instead of sticking up for his right to have his own opinion, Gragson groveled. I am disappointed in myself for my lack of attention and actions on social media. I understand the severity of this situation. I love and appreciate everyone. I try to treat everyone equally no matter who they are. I messed up plain and simple.”

As per usual, it didn’t help. He’s still out of a job.

CATHOLIC: CLICK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixHGR2wL7_o [11:47] to hear Fr. Mike correctly explain the RCC doctrine on eternal salvation with regard to faith and works. HINT: It’s not “Protestants believe we are saved by faith; Catholics believe we are saved by works.”

KNIFE SKILLS: CLICK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtEfBKJZrVQ [13:05] for another great kitchen lesson from Lan Lam.

WOLF IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING: CLICK https://twitter.com/Protestia/status/1688516964702990336 [2:31] to hear a Presbyterian Church USA pastor use her pulpit to praise child sacrifice. I felt God’s presence with me as I made the decision to end two pregnancies and I felt no guilt, no shame, no sin.”

I don’t think it was God’s presence she felt.

STOCK UP NOW: This fall, some foods are going to be in shorter supply with higher prices. These include beef, rice, wheat, corn, sugar, oranges, tomatoes, butter, eggs, mayo, olive oil and seed oils (soybeans, sunflowers, peanuts, rapeseed, and canola oils), infant formula, beer and champagne.

GRAMMY NOTES: One day, my mother found burn marks on the kitchen counter. After inquiries, my little brother informed her proudly that he had poked a screwdriver into the toaster to “fix” it and, in an excited voice, announced, “Blue and orange sparks flew out!!” My mother turned dead white.
