Good News!

So far this year, abortion business closures have outpaced new openings by more than four to one.

ABORTION clinic closed

Twenty-one abortion facilities have CLOSED since the beginning of 2017, including 7 that did surgical abortions, 5 that did medical abortions, and 9 that referred women to abortion providers.

  • Two of the 21 facilities were evicted for non-payment of rent.
  • One was evicted due to pressure from pro-life activists.
  • One was shut down by the state for conducting abortions without a license.

Only five new ones have been known to OPEN.

NYT Minimizes Pederast’s Heinous Crimes

2017_05 22 NYT weeps for Seattle mayor

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray is stepping down following allegations that he sexually abused young boys, some of whom he paid.  Murray’s former foster son alleges Murray began sexually abusing him when he was 13.

The main point of the story is how very, very sad it is that the first openly gay mayor of Seattle won’t be able to run for re-election.

The NYT didn’t get around to mentioning the creepy pederasty allegations until paragraph six, though I noticed they did jump right on the “he grew up Irish Catholic” in paragraph eight.

And though the story discusses Murray’s political aspirations and political career at length, they never once name his political party affiliation.  One guess what party he belongs to.

A good summary of the case to date. Includes facts about the murder of John Ashe, who was similarly set to testify in a case damaging to the Clintons.

FLOTUS in Israel

I was touched by our First Lady’s kindness in holding the hand of Israel’s First Lady, Nechama Rivlin, who carries an oxygen tank due to a respiratory illness.

Examining Cable News Ratings

Cable news logos

In April, Fox News posted the highest prime time ratings of the cable networks.  Fox said total viewership was up 28% over last year in prime time, including a 42% year-over-year increase in the target demographic.

The target demographic or “demo” are the 25-54 age viewers prized by advertisers.

The third week in May showed a big shift.  For the 1st time in 17 years, Fox News came in 3rd in the Prime Time Demo ratings and, for the first time ever, MSNBC was No. 1 in that coveted spot.

As exciting as this may be for Maddow &c., they can’t rest on any laurels just yet.  For one thing, FOX has been undergoing a major shakeup with the firing of ratings king Bill O’Reilly.  People may just be trying out other shows before choosing who they prefer now that O’Reilly is gone.  For another, MSNBC has not nailed down the top spot; they’ve just hit 8 out of 21 during the past week.

Ratings review for Monday, May 15 through Sunday, May 21, 2017
#1 total viewership all day: FOX = 4 days, CNN = 3 days.
#1 prime time demo viewers: MSNBC = 3 days, CNN = 3 days, FOX = 1 day.
#1 total viewers prime time:  MSNBC = 5 days, FOX = 2 days.
