FAUXTUS: Is he demented or just a serial liar? It’s hard to tell at this point. His latest was the whopper he told at a United Steelworkers union headquarters in Pittsburgh recently.

“My Uncle Bosey was a hell of an athlete, they tell me, when he was a kid. And he became an Army Air Corps, before the Air Force came along. He flew those single-engine planes as reconnaissance over war zones. He got shot down in New Guinea and they never found the body because there used to be a lot of cannibals in New Guinea.”

He made it sound like his uncle was a pilot who was shot down while on a heroic reconnaissance flight over a war zone. The official military report states that Second Lieutenant Ambrose J. Finnegan was a passenger on a courier flight whose engines (plural) failed and was forced to ditch in the ocean.

“The aircraft’s nose hit the water hard. Three men failed to emerge from the sinking wreck and were lost in the crash. One crew member survived and was rescued by a passing barge. An aerial search the next day found no trace of the missing aircraft or the lost crew members.”

Finnegan’s war record shows he was assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), Headquarters Squadron as a courier for the Advanced Echelon (ADVON) in New Guinea, which was an active war zone on land, sea and air from the start of the Pacific War until the surrender of Japan. Couriers provide a vital function in moving classified and sensitive material by hand from place to place. Clearly, anyone working in an active war zone is at risk and Finnegan paid with his life. But he wasn’t a pilot, he did not fly reconnaissance, and he was not eaten by cannibals.

UTAH: [1:12:58] – Dozens of students staged a walkout to protest the school’s tolerance of people who “identify” as a particular animal.

The kids say the so-called “furries” receive preferential treatment from the school’s administration. One student reported, “They run on all fours and pounce on people.” But the students who complain get punished by the school, not the furries. Another said, “If you don’t have proof, nothing happened. … However, if they pull out their phone and record something, then they get in trouble for recording it. Because [they] are not a minority, [their] voices cannot be heard.”

BROKEN, NOT BROKEN: Some people are so needy that they can only like people who are broken. They act like they are your best friends while they’re trying to fix you, but real friends would rejoice with you when you begin to heal. IDAHO: The state’s Supreme Court of Idaho unanimously upheld recent affirmed a law banning the use of student IDs for voter registration and in-person voting. TEXAS HERO: On Friday evening, we talked with our Texans. Our 8 yo grand-daughter told us about how, earlier that afternoon, while their dad was driving her and her little sister (6 next month) from school to a play date, two cars collided right ahead of them. Our son-in-law (retired Army) jumped out of their car, rescued the mom and two little ones from their car, which had turned over, then administered first aid to the teen whose car was still upright, but who had been hit in the face by flying glass. Harvard has rewarded its former president, “Dr.” Claudine Gay, for plagiarizing her Ph.D. thesis by letting her resign, while continuing to (a) receive her $900,000-a-year salary and (b) continue teaching a graduate-level course on “Reading and Research.” IOW, she will be doing a tiny fraction of the work she (allegedly) did as Harvard’s president, while still making nearly a million dollars a year.

The principal of Creekside Elementary School in Sammamish, WA, denied a petition by two students to start an interfaith prayer club after school to “bring students together to serve their community.” Principal Allison claimed that all the funding for school clubs was allocated in October, so this new club could not be allowed to start in February. However, she had permitted an LGBTQ Pride club to start just the week before. The kids’ parents are suing on behalf of their offspring, alleging Allison’s actions violated both the Free Exercise Clause and the Free Speech Clause.

TRANS: A male nurse in Austria has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for brutally murdering the elderly paralyzed man for whom he was providing home care. Though biologically and legally male, the perp identifies as female, so was referred to as a woman in court by witnesses and the defense. He reported that his murderous rage was triggered by his patient’s “transphobic” remarks, which so enraged him that he went to the kitchen and retrieved multiple knives which he used to stab his paralyzed patient eleven times in the upper body, abdomen, face, and head. His attorney told the court that he was in a fragile emotional state, because his boyfriend had just dumped him. A blood test revealed he had alcohol in his system.

PPIs: A study entitled “Proton Pump Inhibitors and Cancer Risk: A Comprehensive Review of Epidemiological and Mechanistic Evidence” was published in Journal of Clinical Medicine a few weeks ago. It reported that long-term use of Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) is linked to increased incidence of stomach cancer.

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are used by millions of people every day to treat acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and peptic ulcers. They work by reducing the production of stomach acid. They are routinely prescribed for more than 3 months at a time; some are even available OTC (Prevacid, Prilosec, Nexium) with no doctor or pharmacist over-seeing their use.

The justification for the epidemic of PPI use is that “stress causes excess acid.” I don’t know how doctors and nurses can repeat this lie with a straight face. EVERY first year biology student knows that our bodies have two autonomic nervous systems; the normal (rest and digest) state is call the para-sympathetic, while the stress (fight or flight) state is called the sympathetic. IOW, chronic stress cannot cause excess acid, because it slows down all digestive processes.

The reason that stress causes acid indigestion is that it slows down mucous production, allowing the protective layer of mucous required by the stomach lining to thin. We only produce acid when we eat, but if our stomachs do not have a sufficient mucous layer, the acid irritates the stomach lining, which causes pain, inflammation, heartburn, and reflux. Personally, I think it’s malpractice that they routinely treat insufficient mucous by reducing acid; we need that acid to properly digest our food and stay healthy!

I have chronic PTSD and have suffered from acid indigestion for most of my life. I recently learned to successfully control it by taking mucilaginous herbs with every meal. Since I started doing this, I have not needed any of the umpteen antacids I used to suck down daily. On the few occasions when I still get heartburn, I take alginate. When this natural product (made from algae) mixes with acid, it swells up and forms a gel raft that floats and physically blocks acid from going up my throat. Once my food is digested, the gel gets digested and I’m good until my next meal.
