Gallup Approvals – Carter vs Obama

One of my bloggy listers asked how Carter compared, so I checked Gallup’s interactive “Presidential Job Approval Center” feature http://www.gallup.com/poll/124922/Presidential-Job-Approval-Center.aspx and thought the results were just too juicy not to share!

Racism in the Laughing Stock Media

Dearest and I were talking about how the Laughing Stock Media has consistently used skewed polls to make Obama look better than he is.

I’ve seen O’bots on the net insisting that he’s the MOST popular president in history when in fact, his HIGHEST ever GALLUP approval rating (67%) is a tie with Richard Nixon’s for the LOWEST highest ever recorded.

It seems to me the media’s behavior is deeply racist. The President of the United States is the most powerful man on the planet. Why do they feel this need to act as if Obama were a spastic child who should rightfully be celebrated for taking a single step? Are their expectations of a black man in the White House THAT low?

I can see November from my house!

We all know we got creamed in 2008. Obama won 9.6 million more popular votes than McCain. And McCain lost by 192 electoral votes, which was more than the 173 he held (365 – 173 = 192).

So imagine my surprise when I compared GALLUP’S 2008 Party Strength by State data with the 2008 election results by State. Going into that election, Democrats had a 10% or higher advantage over Republicans in 30 States … but Obama only won 29 States!

I’m thinking that talk radio and the internet had a much bigger impact on the 2008 election than I ever thought and that Democrats, who can now boast of a 10% or higher advantage in only 12 States, are in a world of hurt.

He had a uncle

May 2008: Senator Obama campaigning in NM

Transcript: “I had a uncle [sic] who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps. The story in our family was that when he came home, he just went up into the attic and he didn’t leave the house for six months.”

Ralph Dunham, Barack Obama’s great-uncle

Obama’s mother was an only child. He did not have any American uncles. He did have a great-uncle, 2LT Ralph Dunham, who was a personnel officer in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Ralph’s war was spent doing paperwork, keeping track of soldiers and making sure they got paid. He arrived at Omaha Easy Red beach four days after the Normandy invasion, by which time the area was secure.

D Day Plus Four

He said he never saw direct combat, though his unit was “bombed a few times.” The only mention of his time in Europe says that he “pushed through France, Italy and Germany.” It’s a little hard to fathom how an American soldier who landed on Omaha Beach managed to spend any time in Italy. France and Germany, certainly. But not Italy.

One thing is certain. He did NOT help liberate the concentration camp at Auschwitz as Obama claimed in New Mexico in 2008. Auschwitz was liberated on January 27, 1945 by the 322nd Rifle Division of the Soviet Army.

Auschwitz haunts Soviet veteran

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Center of Military History credits American troops with the liberation of Nazi concentration camps at Buchenwald, Dachau, Flossenbürg, Mauthausen, Neuengamme and Dora-Mittelbau.

There is a 3 minute video about the Soviet, American, British and Canadian liberation of the camps @
http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/media_nm.php?ModuleId=10005131&MediaId=7826

It’s possible Obama’s great-uncle witnessed and was traumatized by the liberation of some other concentration camp, though one might suppose that an event of this historic magnitude, that was allegedly burned into the Dunham family lore by Uncle Ralph’s alleged Post Traumatic Stress, would have included the name of the actual camp or been worthy of mention in the interview the man gave after his grand-nephew got famous.

The Obama family dysfunction

It appears that teen marriages and abandonment were part of Obama’s family tree on both sides.

Barack Obama Sr. had several wives (two at a time on more than one occasion), plus a mistress, who collectively bore him 6 children. He left his first wife and family in Africa when he went to Hawaii to attend college. While there, he allegedly married Obama’s 18-year-old mother and fathered Barack Jr.

The validity of this relationship is questionable. Nobody remembers seeing them together. Nobody attended the wedding. And there is no record of the marriage. There is also no evidence they ever lived together. By all accounts, Barack Sr. was an abusive alcoholic who finally killed himself driving drunk at age 46.

After Baby Barack arrived, he and his mother lived with her parents, then moved to Seattle until after Barack Sr. had left Hawaii for Harvard, when they moved back to Hawaii. While at Harvard, Barack Sr. divorced Barack Jr.’s mother and hooked up with another American, who bore him 2 sons and followed him back to Africa.

Barack Jr.’s mother remarried and moved to Indonesia with her new Indonesian husband, who changed the boy’s name to Barry Soetoro and put him into a Muslim school. They had a daughter, Barack’s half sister Maya, when Barack was 9 years old. A year or so later, Barack Jr. was shipped back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents and his name was changed back to Barry Obama. He graduated from the private Punahou High School in 1979.

The Indonesian marriage also failed, but Barack’s mother mostly stayed in Indonesia working on her doctoral thesis. Maya’s father remarried and had two other children. Maya was home schooled by her mother and then attended Jakarta International School from 1981 to 1984, then moved to Hawaii to attend Punahou, from which she was graduated in 1988.

Barack Jr. was supported primarily by his maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who worked at a bank. Her husband, Stanley, doesn’t appear to have been steadily employed, though he reportedly kept control of the family car while his wife commuted to work on the public bus.

Stanley’s parents seem to have followed a similar pattern. In 1920, Stanley (aged 2) is recorded in the census with his brother Ralph (aged 3), their mother Ruth (aged 19) and father Ralph (aged 26). They were living with Ruth’s parents. Ralph was working as an auto mechanic. Ruth’s father was an oil man.

Other sources say that Ruth committed suicide when her boys were 8 and 9 and that young Stanley found her body. It appears they stayed on with the maternal grandparents, while their dad moved back home with his parents in another county.

On the 1930 census, the boys are enumerated with their maternal grandparents in Butler County, Kansas. Their maternal grandfather and provider (aged 56) is listed as an oil pumper. His wife (aged 53) appears to have been the primary homemaker. The 24 year old maiden aunt worked as a stenographer at the oil company, presumably helping to support the grandmother’s father, who was elderly and retired, plus the two boys. Ralph had a paper route.

In that same 1930 census, Obama’s great-grandfather, Ralph Sr. (aged 38), is shown living with his parents in Sedgwick County, Kansas. Ralph is working as a druggist in a retail drug store. His father is a medical doctor. There is also another boy, Russell Jackson (aged 13), who is listed as a grandson. He was therefore Ralph Sr.’s nephew and the first cousin of Obama’s grandfather and great uncle. In fact, he was the same age as his cousin Ralph.

In other words, when Barack’s grandfather and brother were young, they lived in a household of six that was supported by one adult male laborer, an adult female stenographer, and a teen-aged boy’s paper route, while their dad lived in another county in a household of four that not only was supported by two adult male professionals, but also included their father’s nephew who was their same age.

Sheesh. Is it any wonder Wikipedia notes that Stanley was a rebellious teenager who allegedly punched his high school principal? It also says he spent some time knocking around, riding the rails, before marrying Madelyn Lee Payne on her prom night, May 5, 1940.

In Barack Obama’s memoir, Dreams From My Father, he describes Madelyn’s parents as “stern Methodist parents who did not believe in drinking, playing cards or dancing.” She liked to go to Wichita, Kansas to see big band concerts, not likely to be something her folks approved of. That’s how she met Stanley Dunham.

Nineteen months after they were married, Stanley enlisted in the Army on January 18, 1942. His daughter, Obama’s mother, was born November 29, 1942.  During the war, Madelyn Dunham worked on a Boeing B-29 assembly line in Wichita. Stanley served 3½ years, then was discharged August 30, 1945. After the war, the family moved to Berkeley, California, back to El Dorado, Kansas, then to Seattle, Washington, then to a Seattle suburb, then to Hawaii. Stanley sold furniture. His wife was an officer at a bank.

Stanley died in Hawaii in 1992. His wife cared for Ann during her final illness until she died in 1995, also in Hawaii, when Barack was in Chicago, running for his first State Senate seat. Madelyn died November 2, 2008 at age 86, just before Obama was elected president.

To their credit, he and Michelle succeeded in breaking the Obama and Dunham pattern of teen marriages and abandonment of children to the care of grandparents.

Tell me some more lies

On October 2, 2002, Barack Obama told an audience in Chicago that his grandfather had signed up to serve in World War II “the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed.”

Yes, his grandfather enlisted, but it was 42 days after Pearl Harbor was bombed, not the day after.

On October 2, 2002, Barack Obama told an audience in Chicago that his grandfather had “fought in Patton’s army.”

His grandfather was a clerk. He did not do any fighting.

Obama’s mother’s father, Stanley Dunham, was a supply sergeant with the 1830th Ordnance Supply and Maintenance Company, Aviation, which serviced the 9th Air Force, fixing the planes, loading munitions and the like.  As a supply sergeant, Dunham was responsible for ordering and managing inventory of repair parts, maintaining records about what was done to the planes, etc. In other words, he pushed papers.

His unit arrived in England about eight months before D-Day (June 6, 1944) and left for France about six weeks after D-Day, just about the time Patton took command of the U.S. Third Army (August 1, 1944). In December 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge, when the Band of Brothers was freezing its toes off in Belgium, Dunham was safe and warm at the air base in Juvincourt, France, northwest of Reims.

On October 2, 2002, Barack Obama told an audience in Chicago that his grandfather “saw the dead and dying across the fields of Europe.”

Between the summer of 1944 and the spring of 1945, the foot soldiers of Patton’s Third Army saw 281 days of continuous combat. No doubt they saw plenty of dead and dying across the fields of Europe. But Stanley Dunham wasn’t one of them. In fact, Stanley Dunham was as far from any danger as the Army Air Force could possibly afford to park its precious fighter planes and bombers.

In March 1945, Patton’s Third Army ground forces captured a German airfield outside Frankfurt, Germany. In April, the Ninth Air Force moved from the Juvincourt air base to this new base in Eschborn, from which they staged their combat missions in Germany during the final few weeks of the war. Dunham went there as well, no doubt toting his favorite stapler.

After the war ended in May, Dunham went back to the States. He was discharged from the Army on Aug. 30, 1945, after serving 3½ years without distinction.

On October 2, 2002, Barack Obama told an audience in Chicago that his grandfather “heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka.”

Except … there were no such “fellow troops.”

Auschwitz (in Poland) was liberated by Soviet, not American troops, while Dunham was pushing papers at the airbase in Juvincourt, France.

Treblinka (also in Poland) wasn’t liberated by troops at all. The prisoners rebelled and freed themselves in August of 1943 … a year before Americans set foot on the beaches of Normandy.

They can’t justify supporting Democrats anymore

In 2008, we tried to talk to our liberal pastor about Obama’s pro-abortion history. She responded by giving us a 3-page article xeroxed from a liberal magazine about why the Democratic Party’s alleged support for civil rights and help for the poor made them the better choice than selfish, greedy Republicans.

We both read it carefully and found it to be an illogical, garbled list of Democrat talking points. There was not a shred of Catholic teaching or Biblical truth in it.

I bought her a copy of Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism: Who Gives, Who Doesn’t, and Why It Matters by Arthur C. Brooks.

She sent me a snippy email “thanking” me for the gift, saying she had no plans to read it “now or ever.”

So much for open-minded dialogue between people of faith.

The summer of 2009, when the Leftist media was reporting very negatively on ObamaCare protests … for example, neglecting to point out that the incidents of violence were perpetrated by the pro-ObamaCare protesters against the antis, not the other way around … our deacon published an illogical, garbled justification for why the antis were all greedy and selfish.

So much for non-judgmental dialogue between people of faith.

His only actual justification for supporting ObamaCare was this: “When my mother was dying, I was grateful for her Medicare.” He also said it was very bad when people bit each other at protests. (I always wondered if he knew that the biter was on his side, while the man who lost part of his finger to the oh-so-tolerant Democrat supporter was on my side.)

When the Catholic bishops finally got a clue and came out against ObamaCare, the liberal pastor at the next parish over gave the official statement from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops equal billing on the parish web-site with the pro-ObamaCare statement by a group of 40 nuns.

Am I being overly-judgmental in characterizing Pro-Choice Catholic arguments as “illogical” and “garbled”? I’ll let you be the judge. In the video, the off-camera voice notes that the Catholic bishops are opposed to the HHS mandate. The voice then asks if Pelosi will stand with her fellow Catholics in resisting this law OR stand with the administration to impose it?

Pelosi says “I will stick with my fellow Catholics in supporting the administration on this.”

That’s not a typo. Listen for yourself.

“Illogical?” “Garbled?” Hell, yes.

Today, angelaisms sent me a link to this article:

America’s Most Biblically-Hostile U. S. President By David Barton – February 29, 2012

http://www.wallbuilders.com/LIBissuesArticles.asp?id=106938

David Barton is the historian who did the American Heritage DVDs I raved about a couple days ago.

The whole article is worth reading, but too long to share here in full.  I do want to copy-paste the section that deals with Obama’s pro-abortion, anti-life actions since becoming President of the United States:

  • January 2009 – Obama lifts restrictions on U.S. government funding for groups that provide abortion services or counseling abroad, forcing taxpayers to fund pro-abortion groups that either promote or perform abortions in other nations.
  • January 2009 – President Obama’s nominee for deputy secretary of state asserts that American taxpayers are required to pay for abortions and that limits on abortion funding are unconstitutional.
  • March 2009 – The Obama administration shut out pro-life groups from attending a White House-sponsored health care summit.
  • March 2009 – Obama orders taxpayer funding of embryonic stem cell research.
  • March 2009 – Obama gave $50 million for the UNFPA, the UN population agency that promotes abortion and works closely with Chinese population control officials who use forced abortions and involuntary sterilizations.
  • May 2009 – Obama officials assemble a terrorism dictionary calling pro-life advocates violent and charging that they use racism in their “criminal” activities.
  • July 2010 – The Obama administration uses federal funds in violation of federal law to get Kenya to change its constitution to include abortion.
  • September 2010 – The Obama administration tells researchers to ignore a judge’s decision striking down federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.
  • October 2011 – The Obama administration eliminates federal grants to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for their extensive programs that aid victims of human trafficking because the Catholic Church is anti-abortion.

This is not a comprehensive list. For example, there was the appointment of Catholic Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of HHS, the agency that formulated the famous HHS mandate to deprive Pro-Lifers of their First Amendment rights.

While Sebelius was governor of Kansas, she was buddies with George Tiller the Baby Killer. In this video interview, she calls him a “health care provider.”

How close were George and Kathleen?

During her time in office, Governor Sebelius used her veto power three times to protect late-term abortionists, which in Kansas meant George Tiller.

In April 2007, Sebelius held a party at the governor’s mansion to honor Tiller. Only Tiller, his wife, and his clinic staff were invited.

For his part, Tiller spent millions funding Sebelius and the Democratic Party — $1.2 million in the 2006 election cycle alone.

Like other Catholic Pro-Choicers (e.g., Kennedy, Pelosi, Kerry, Biden), Sebelius claims she can be a faithful Catholic and still take money from and hand out political favors to the abortion industry.

The Roman Catholic Church begs to differ. Here is just a sampling of quotations from http://old.usccb.org/prolife/tdocs/prochoice.shtml:

  • John Paul II, continuing the constant teaching of the Church, has reiterated many times that those who are directly involved in lawmaking bodies have a grave and clear obligation to oppose any law that attacks human life. For them, as for every Catholic, it is impossible to promote such laws or to vote for them.
  • There cannot be two parallel lives in their existence: on the one hand, the so-called ‘spiritual life’, with its values and demands; and on the other, the so-called ‘secular’ life, that is, life in a family, at work, in social responsibilities, in the responsibilities of public life and in culture.
  • No Catholic can responsibly take a “pro-choice” stand when the “choice” in question involves the taking of innocent human life.
  • We urge those Catholic officials who choose to depart from Church teaching on the inviolability of human life in their public life to consider the consequences for their own spiritual well being, as well as the scandal they risk by leading others into serious sin.
  • [N]o appeal to policy, procedure, majority will or pluralism ever excuses a public official from defending life to the greatest extent possible.
  • Those who justify their inaction on the grounds that abortion is the law of the land need to recognize that there is a higher law, the law of God

Sebelius’ ordinary, Archbishop Joseph Naumann, has warned Sebelius several times of her infidelity to Church teaching. When she was nominated as head of HHS, Bishop Naumann called Obama’s choice “offensive” and wrote:

“Because of her long history both as a legislator and governor of consistently supporting legalized abortion and after many months of dialogue, I requested Governor Sebelius not to present herself for communion.”

Archbishop Raymond Burke, prefect of the Apostolic Signature in Rome, backed him up, stating publicly that Sebelius should not present herself for Holy Communion no matter where she was.
