Excerpts from the National Review editorial posted yesterday
The president is leaving the same way he came in: with a great deal of vague and fruity talk about “hope and change,” very little of genuine interest, and an undercurrent of bitterness communicating his unshakeable belief that the American people just simply are not up to the task of fully appreciating History’s unique gift to them in the person of Barack Obama.

And he is so terribly disappointed in us! Having just endured the electorate’s rejection of his party and his mode of politics with the election of Donald Trump, and grimly considering the likely dismantling of much of his executive-order legacy, President Obama gave a speech about how our democracy has failed and why.
You’ll be something less than shocked to learn that his belief is that Americans are so beguiled and befouled by racism and prejudice that we failed to cultivate the sacred spark the Promethean president handed down to us.
Oh, and we watch too much Fox News and read too many Facebook posts from that right-wing uncle of myth and lore, which deprives us of a “common baseline of facts.”

Last night was billed as a forward-looking speech, but it was in no small part an evening of recriminations.
All this from the man whose administration weaponized the IRS for political purposes and whose executive usurpations were repeatedly thrown out by the courts.
For a man who rose to national attention on the basis of his oratory, he has had relatively little to say. He brought no new ideas or insights to the office, only a pointlessly grandiose sense of his own specialness.
Barack Obama is a man who stood astride History muttering “You’re welcome, you ingrates.”

After eight years of fawning, butt-kissing, and constant tongue baths, the media have resumed their adversarial role to the new president. Following up on scurrilous, unsubstantiated smears the press were drooling over the opportunity to savagely attack The Donald and treat him like meat before ravening hyenas. They found out an unfortunate fact of life. Prod a dangerous creature and you could wind up having a real bad day.
The Media Is Outraged That Trump Criticized CNN. They Must Have Forgotten When Obama Did The Same To Fox News
The media was furious after Donald Trump refused to take a question from a CNN reporter at his first press conference as president-elect Wednesday
The press was incensed, but why did Barack Obama not generate the same outrage when he repeatedly criticized Fox News and questioned its legitimacy over the last eight years?
YOU’VE SEEN THIS:
CNN’s Sciutto Calls Colleague Jim Acosta ‘Brave’ After Trump Press Conference Diss
THESE BOTTOM-FEEDING SCUM THINK IT’S FUNNY TO DISRESPECT REPUBLICANS. IT’S GREAT SPORT.
Sciutto discussed the ordeal soon afterward and jumped to his colleague’s defense, calling Acosta “brave” for what he did.
“If I could just add this: a lot of charges were leveled at CNN, including my brave colleague there, Jim Acosta,” Sciutto said.
Killing CNN
Yesterday, Trump made it crystal-clear to CNN that they have crossed the red line – you know, the one Obama dared the Russians to cross in Syria. They crossed it, and Obama whimpered. Trump is done with red lines. He is building a wall, and CNN is closed out of Trump’s news conferences. He flatly refused to allow them to exercise the pretense of journalism by refusing to permit them to level questions at him during his presser.

NY Magazine: Trump ‘Owns the Press’ at First Press Conference
But observed as spectacle, Trump came away with a resounding victory. That’s because Trump won even before he stepped before the microphone, by making the media the story. Last night, BuzzFeed published a salacious 35-page oppo-research dossier on Trump that alleged Russia possessed sexual and financial dirt on Trump that could be used to blackmail him.
Journalists receive oppo research frequently during political campaigns, but publish only what they can verify. By amending this standard for Trump, BuzzFeed handed him an opening to play the victim. Trump thrives in a world where facts are fungible.
“We are now fully immersed in the anonymous, the unverified, and the unverifiable. And he hasn’t even taken office. Trumpism sure is fast.”

There are days when it is difficult in the extreme to find the motivation to park in front of this machine and begin my daily sojourn into the belly of the political beast. There was a time a couple years ago when there was a lot of discussion and back and forth on this blog but I suspect most have gotten bored or just lost interest and moved on. Many days it is only through a sense of indebtedness to what this has meant to me keeps me doing it.
As you all are well aware, Obama gave his farewell ‘F*ck you, America’ speech last night before 20,000 adoring, brain-dead acolytes at McCormack Center. They hung on every lie that spilled from his purple lips. He even mustered up a few tears when he talked about his baby mama and his two jaded offspring. I could fill an entire post with articles about this exercise in sophistry, but I seriously doubt you care, and frankly, I don’t either.

“Women’s March on Washington” devolves into racial identity politics fight

Which brings us to The Women’s March on Washington, scheduled for the day after Trump’s inauguration. It appears that the concept was grassroots, but it’s now a big liberal activist group feeding frenzy. Here’s a partial list:

Judicial Watch Goes After ‘Another Corrupt Politician — Eric Holder’

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton called Monday’s “records request” an effort to “expose how California state legislators are wasting tax dollars to take care of another corrupt politician – Eric Holder – under the guise of resisting the rule of law on immigration and other matters.”
[CtH: I seriously wish I had more money, so I could throw some at Judicial Watch. I get their announcements in my Facebook feed and am salivating over all the cases they’re going after.]
Ventura Loses Appeal to Reinstate $1.8M Verdict

The Supreme Court has turned away former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura’s bid for reinstatement of a $1.8 million verdict in his defamation case against the estate of slain Navy SEAL and “American Sniper” author Chris Kyle.
[CtH: I thought Ventura was mostly just a joke until he did this and then I switched to thinking he is something I don’t say out loud because I’m a lady.]

A Texas judge has dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed last year by the father of “Clock Boy” Ahmed Mohamed against several conservatives.

So much to do. I’m watching the confirmation hearings and I hope to have the video I’m watching now to post later. Sen. Ted Cruz is absolutely disemboweling the Democrats who suddenly are obsessed with the rule of law while they said nothing for 8 years while Holder made a mockery of the word ‘Justice’. He had special words of disgust for Sen. Stuart Smalley (Idiot-Minnesota).
Never to be deterred, two stupid white people got up in the gallery screaming ‘black lives matter!’ before being escorted out by DC police.

Still, there are other newsworthy items.
Alibaba job boom: Jack Ma chats with Trump about how to create 1 million US jobs over 5 years
ALI BABA IS AN ASIAN VERSION OF E-BAY. MA IS THE RICHEST MAN IN ASIA.
“We’re focused on small business,” Ma told reporters. “We specifically talked about … supporting 1 million small businesses, especially in the Midwest of America. Small businesses on the platform selling products — agriculture products and America services — to China and Asia, because we’re pretty big in Asia.”
Like Etsy or eBay, Alibaba enables third-party sellers in China to take their own businesses to the web. The company only had 36,446 full-time employees, almost all in China, as of March 31, according to SEC filings. But with more than 10 million active sellers as of 2015, Alibaba estimates its China retail marketplaces “contributed to the creation of over 15 million job opportunities.”
[CtH: But I’m sure he “didn’t build that.”]
‘There Are No Jobs’: Obama Loyalists Scramble To Find Work
Thousands of Obama loyalists are struggling to find work in a city now dominated by the GOP, according to a report from Politico. “It feels like there are just thousands of us trying to find a job, and there are no jobs,” Mira Patel, a longtime Clinton aide told Politico.
[CtH: Karma sucks, don’t it?]
Final bill for Hillary futility: $1.2 billion
As Matt Vespa reminds us, Hillary Clinton once offered this zinger about Donald Trump’s claims to be a business wizard: “What kind of genius loses a billion dollars in a single year?”
The New York Post has the answer in their review of election-campaign financial disclosures. The final cost of Hillary’s futile bid for the presidency — including monies spent by the Democratic Party and supporting PACS — exceeded $1.2 billion.
Whoopi Goldberg: No ‘Right-Leaning Person’ Has ‘Ever’ Lost Their Job for Political Views
After Goldberg read McCain’s tweet, she insisted that people should stop criticizing Hollywood like it was a “bad word.” She then lectured on the history of Hollywood and said that prior to the 1970s, Hollywood was dominated by right-leaning groups.
“That’s how we ended up with McCarthyism and all of these so-called ‘lefties’ being rounded up and eaten up basically for their beliefs,” Goldberg said.
[CtH: The “open mindedness” of liberals in Hollywood totally explains why Republican actors are the ones hiding in their closets now.]
Dem Sen. Dick Durbin Acknowledges Sessions’ Work Has Spared Blacks “Thousands Of Years In Prison”
“Restricted offshore areas could hold more than 50 billion barrels, or more, of oil and more than 195 trillion cubic feet of natural gas,” Gerard said. “Just imagine what the industry could do to further benefit consumers, the economy and the environment if more of that energy were available for responsible and safe domestic production.”
Obama: Don’t Blame Me For The Democrats’ Demise
Clearly, whatever leadership Obama provided, it wasn’t helping Democrats connect with voters across the country.
So what was Obama’s response?
At first, he tried — and we’re not making this up — to blame President Bush.
“I came in the middle of worst financial crisis since the Great Depression,” he said. And since “in 2010 there were a lot of folks who were still out of work,” whoever was president was “gonna get hit.”
[CtH: Reality check, BHO. There are 14.5 million more Americans out of work now than when you took over from Bush.]
Instead, Obama said — and again, we are not making this up — that he was just too darn busy being president to help his fellow Democrats.
“My docket was really full here,” Obama said, “so I can’t be both chief organizer of the Democratic Party and function as commander in chief and president of the United States.”
Stephanopoulos was either too polite or too partisan to not laugh out loud at this statement.

The soon-to-be former president has never hidden his utter contempt for those who uphold the law. It is a common trait among those who see cops as an impediment to them enriching themselves through assaults and robberies and killing each other over drug-dealing territory. Round up 10 street corner denizens in the bowels of any democrat-run metropolis and chances are most or all will either have drugs, guns, or both on their person. See a cop, they try to run far enough away to jettison their contraband so as not to be caught with it. Hence the inbred hatred/fear of authority.
Congressman: Police Appreciation Lights Refused By White House
“Obama has not agreed to do so, but has displayed lights at the White House for other groups in the past, including the LGBT community,” a spokeswoman from Republican Washington Rep. Dave Reichert’s office told The Daily Caller Sunday night.
President Obama previously refused to light up the White House with blue lights in support of the fallen officers following an ambush on law enforcement in Dallas last July.
Democrats Re-Hang ‘Cops as Pigs’ Painting Day After Two Officers Killed in Line of Duty
THIS IS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO POLICE OFFICERS EVERYWHERE
A group of Congressional Democrats led by Rep. William Lacy Clay of Missouri hung the controversial painting depicting police officers as pigs back in its original place on a wall in the U.S. Capitol complex. The action comes a day after two Florida law enforcement officers died in the line of duty: one who was shot dead while trying to apprehend a murder suspect and the other killed in a traffic accident while securing a search perimeter for the suspect.
Rep. Clay Attempts To File Charges Over Removal Of Painting Depicting Cops As Pigs
Clay first heard from his office that the painting — by David Pulphus, which won his district’s high school art competition and now hangs with other high school student paintings from members’ districts across the country — was removed by Hunter on Friday and returned to Clay’s office undamaged.
“We’re less than zero percent worried about this, because, one, it’s not theft when you take something off a wall, without damaging the property, in the Capitol Building and return it to its rightful owner on behalf of a student in any way what so ever,” a Hunter spokesman told TheDC.
Duncan Hunter: Paul Ryan might have to get involved in the cops-as-pigs painting dispute
HUNTER IS A BY-GOD MARINE
Last week, Mr. Hunter had personally removed the painting, which was done by a winner of a congressional art competition held by Rep. William Lacy Clay, Missouri Democrat.
“It just blows my mind how Democrats think it’s OK to portray cops as pigs,” Mr. Hunter, California Republican, said Tuesday on “Fox & Friends.”
“Paul Ryan has the ability to make sure that no artwork that depicts cops as pigs, or that depicts congressmen as prostitutes, or depicts anybody in a poor way like this gets put up” in the Capitol, he said.
The solution is simple; have President Trump order it taken down, send the young prick who drew it a hundred bucks for payment, then burn it.

U.S. says Navy ship fired warning shots at Iranian vessels

The incident, which occurred Sunday and was first reported by Reuters, comes as U.S. President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office on Jan. 20. In September, Trump vowed that any Iranian vessels that harass the U.S. Navy in the Gulf would be “shot out of the water.”
THE RAGHEADS WILL SOON LEARN TRUMP IS NOT THE PUSHOVER THAT OBAMA WAS
The Navy destroyer fired warning flares and a U.S. Navy helicopter also dropped a smoke float before the warning shots were fired. The Iranian vessels came within 900 yards (800 meters) of the Mahan, which was escorting two other U.S. military ships, they said.

Mrs. Clinton, accompanied by her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and their daughter, Chelsea, received several ovations from the sold-out audience as she arrived, and then another round of applause when she was acknowledged by the cast after the show.
[Did she get a booboo sticker too? Cuz, you know, she lost the election, then she lost the recount, then she lost the electoral vote, then she lost the Congressional confirmation of the electoral vote.]

Farewell to a Decade of Media Drooling Over Barack Obama
From the moment then-state senator Barack Obama showed up on the national stage to address the Democratic convention in 2004, the news media were in love.
“Obama is a rock star,” NBC’s Andrea Mitchell exclaimed during MSNBC’s live convention coverage back on July 27, 2004.
When Obama ran for President four years later, news reporters led the cheers.
“It’s almost hard to remain objective because it’s infectious, the energy, I think.”
As a candidate, the Associated Press celebrated Obama as “something special,” while as President-elect, the Washington Post drooled over his “chiseled pectorals,” on display during a vacation in Hawaii.
“He transcends the racial divide so effortlessly that it seems reasonable to expect that he can bridge all the other divisions — and answer all the impossible questions — plaguing American public life.”
[CtH: And, eight years later, 14½ million more Americans are out of work than when Mr. Hope and Change took office, 25 million Americans are still without health insurance, domestic violence is rampant, we’ve endured a record number of terrorist attacks and entered a record number of wars, and the racial and political divides are worse than ever. Answering questions plaguing American public life? More like being the plague on American public life!]
“On the bus ride along the snowy road to Lebanon, New Hampshire, I showed him this week’s Newsweek, hot off the presses. [to Obama] How does this feel, of all the honors that have come your way, all the publicity?…Who does it make you think of? Is there, is there a loved one?”

Greta Van Susteren Borrows a Familiar Phrase to Describe Her New Show on MSNBC

Van Susteren told her longtime pal and new colleague Rachel Maddow last week that she hopes to bring in many of her former viewers over from Fox, and the lines drawn between Fox News and MSNBC didn’t end there.
[CtH: Fat chance, Greta. If anything would convince me that she’s an idiot, it’s that she left the cable news leader Fox for the cable news joke MSNBC.]
Van Susteren revealed that on her first episode she’ll be sitting down with Valerie Jarrett and Reince Priebus. “And, to steal a phrase you may have heard before, I consider it fair and balanced.”
SHE’S GOING TO REALIZE SHE’S DESCENDED FROM THE PENTHOUSE TO THE OUTHOUSE.

I was disgusted when I saw Obama was presented with the DOD’s Medal for Distinguished Public Service by the man he appointed to be Secretary of Defense. Way to butt kiss the boss, right?
Carter said it was in honor of Obama having been Commander in Chief. Umm … wasn’t being CINC his JOB? I am not aware that any of my kids were awarded medals for doing what their jobs required, only for when they went above and beyond what their jobs required.
I did some research and found that both Bill Clinton and G.W. Bush were presented with this medal by their SecDefs during their last weeks in office.
::eyerolling:: Apparently, LAME AWARDS for LAME DUCKS has now become a tradition.
IMHO, it just cheapens the award and I’m disappointed that Bush participated.
