The President held a press conference yesterday, ostensibly to introduce his new nominee for Labor Secretary. I happened to have tuned in to FNC shortly after it began. Seldom, if ever, have I so enjoyed an ordinary presser. Republicans just don’t act that way when being hammered by the media to defend vicious rumors perpetrated largely by the press whores themselves. He played no favorites, but called on all manner of squawking peacocks trying to get their ‘gotcha’ questions heard. It went on for almost 90 minutes and when it was over the room was littered with broken bodies.

Donald Trump, giving press conferences as president, is like a cross between Fidel Castro’s long-windedness and machismo and Christopher Walken’s theatrical presence — and nobody else in the room can compete with that.

This was on display Thursday, when after a week’s worth of his administration being buffeted by a hurricane of negative media coverage — some of it deserved, some much less so — the president turned himself loose in the East Room.

An hour and 15 minutes later, he walked out of what could be described as a smoldering ruin.

He even toyed with the insufferable Jim Acosta.

So, when Trump called on Acosta, the CNN correspondent denied the charge, saying, “Just for the record, we don’t hate you. I don’t hate you.” Trump sarcastically replied, “O.K.” and Acosta tells him to “Pass that along.”

Then, something strange happened.

Trump defended the claim CNN hates him by cryptically challenging Acosta:

“Ask — ask Jeff Zucker how he got his job. OK?”

Later in the exchange, after Acosta said he was looking to follow up on previous questions, Trump interrupted to comment on his network’s ratings.

“Your ratings aren’t as good as some of the other people,” Trump said.

Acosta defended himself before shifting to his line of questioning.

“They’re pretty good right now actually, Mr. President,” Acosta responded.

Donald Trump is right — the alt-left fake news media are out of control.

“The press has become so dishonest,” he said today, “that if we don’t talk about it, we are doing a tremendous disservice to the American people.”

The pampered pukes have been lying for a long time — just ask the New England Patriots about their “BITTER END.” But this week’s deluge of fake news has just been totally over the top. Trump singled out Wednesday’s New York Times page-one story about the “repeated contacts” of Trump campaign aides with Russians.

That, he said, was “fake news.” And then there was yesterday’s Wall Street Journal front-page non-story, “Spies Keep Intelligence from Trump.”

“Almost as disgraceful,” the president said.

Maybe it’s not a coincidence that Barnum & Bailey is folding its tents this year. After all, how could the circus possibly compete with Donald Trump?
The president proved once again that he is the greatest show on Earth. Lions and tigers and elephants are kid stuff next to his high wire act.
