Poverty: It’s a Democrat thing.
Democrats would like us to buy their Big Fat Lie that welfare, food stamps and unemployment benefits boost people out of poverty.
But that’s all it is … a Big Fat Lie.
Policy is set jointly by the House, the Senate and the President.
Whichever party dominates two or three of these three bodies dominates policy.
Each party has held dominance for a significant chunk of time in recent years, allowing their policies to have a real impact.
Thus we can easily see what effect real Republican vs. Democrat policies have had on real poverty rates.

The Straw Man known as “Trickle-Down Economics”
The Left preaches as a point of faith that Republicans are EEEVIL because we support something called “trickle-down economics.”
But “preaching” and “faith” are as close as you can get to justifying their oft-repeated statement.
The fact is that nobody supports “trickle-down economics” because there is no such thing!
It exists nowhere except in the “Republicans are EEEVIL” rantings of Democrat politicians and their lapdog talking heads.
Even if you limit the definition of this non-existent theory to something like “high taxes are bad for the economy,” you still don’t get to a Republicans-only place.
Democrat Presidents Kennedy and Wilson BOTH said high taxes are bad for the economy.
What the Left wants us to infer from their trickle rantings is that it is Democrat, not Republican policies that boost people out of poverty.
The historical record shows just the opposite.

Media Bias and the New Nixon
The IRS has apologized for targeting conservative political groups during the 2012 election in order to hinder their ability to raise campaign money and support challengers to Democrat candidates.
Now it’s coming out that IRS agents were targeting Tea Party groups in 2011 as well. Color me shocked. Okay. Not so much. Certainly the Palins aren’t surprised.
You know what OTHER administration misused the power of the IRS to target political enemies?
What’s the difference? The media. Nixon was a Republican. Obama is a Democrat.

Media Bias and Political Scandals
The MSM is on a feeding frenzy over Republican Chris Christie’s Bridgegate scandal.
Now … think back and ask yourself how much “frenzy” there was in their reporting of these Democrat political scandals …
Fast & Furious, Benghazi, IRS targeting Tea Party and Conservative groups, DOJ eavesdropping illegally on Fox and AP reporters, Healthcare dot gov’s epic and on-going failure, NSA eavesdropping on pretty much everybody, Anthony Weiner’s sexting scandal, Eliot Spitzer “Client 9” hooker scandal, John Edwards’ infidelity while running for VP scandal, Former Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee Chris Dodd’s sweetheart loan deals, GSA’s Party-gate, IRS waste and bonus scandal, Solyndra etc. “green” government grants followed by “golden parachute for Dem donors” bankruptcy scandals, Charlie Rangel financial disclosure scandal, Maxine Waters banking ethics scandal, convicted criminal and Obama bundler Tony Rezko’s sweetheart real estate deal with Barack Obama, Fannie Mae Democrat CEO bonuses and campaign constributions scandals, billionaire Democrat bundler for Obama Jon Corzine’s perjury and financial hijinks scandal, Obama’s Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner tax evasion scandal, Jesse Jackson Jr.’s attempt to buy Obama’s vacated Senate seat, Oregon Congressman David Wu’s sexual assault of a teenager, David Paterson’s bullying of a domestic violence victim, Eric sexual harassment of a staffer, Obama’s National Security Advisor Tom Donilon leaking national security secrets.
Keep in mind this list could be a lot longer.
So, why is it that Chris Christie is responsible for everything his staffers do, while Democrats are hardly held accountable for their own bad behaviors?
This is nothing new either. Remember how Robert Byrd was once a poobah in the KKK? Remember how Ted Kennedy abandoned a woman to die at Chappaquiddick? You don’t? Hmmm … ask yourself why that is and how the MSM would’ve harped on these two stories endlessly if Kennedy or Byrd had been Republicans.

December Jobs Numbers
December 2013 saw 74,000 new jobs added to the American economy.
- Economists had expected December 2013 would produce a minimum of 120,000 new jobs.
- American businesses need to add 200,000 new jobs each month just to keep pace with population growth.
How did Democrat leaders respond to news of yet another increase in the number of unemployed Americans?
At 8:00 a.m. on January 10, 2014, the White House crowed about how many jobs had been created on their watch.
Three minutes later, Senate Democrat leader Harry Reid shook his finger at Republicans for stalling on extending unemployment benefits.
Do these people talk to each other?
So how is it … if the economy produced way fewer jobs than needed just to keep unemployment even, the “Unemployment Rate” number somehow dropped from 7.0% to 6.7%?
Simple. The “Unemployment Rate” is a phony statistic that totally ignores those who have given up hope.
Any media report crowing about Obama’s economic recovery is lying to cover his Democrat butt.

MEDIA POUNCES ON CHRISTIE

The media are salivating over the possible rhetorical lynching of what some have called the presumptive(their words,not mine) republican opponent to Hillary!. I WILL find an appropriate term for this she-beast in the course of time.
Apparently one of his top aides ordered two lanes of the George Washington Bridge going into Ft. Lee closed for four days last fall. This was supposedly in retaliation for the democrat mayor of Ft. Lee not endorsing Christie in his reelection. There were massive backups and an ambulance was delayed getting to a hospital where the 91 year old patient died. There was no direct proof the traffic jam was the causal factor.
The media have been in full feeding frenzy all day,salivating at the chance to clear the way for the Butcher of Benghazi. They rejected out of hand his denial of any knowledge of this as readily as they accept every lie their idol spews about not knowing anything about anything.

Ideological Purity
The Anchoress (aka Elizabeth Scalia) writes:
I stopped being a Democrat when it became clear that I was expected to vacate any of my own thoughts and opinions in order to fall in line with the party, or be called moronic or hateful or bigoted or even evil. There was no way the party could be wrong on anything, therefore dissent indicated a problem originating with me. “I” had the problem; not the party.
Don’t snigger, conservatives, you have your narrow-minded purists, too. Perhaps you’ve never marched in lockstep with quite the same precision as the Democrats, but you’ve run your own purges, and handily. Because whom the godlings of ideologies would destroy, they first make mad.
Currently Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is being sized up for a suit of tar and feathers or, more precisely, she is being warned that one awaits her, if she does not quickly fall back in line and do what she was supposed to do, was expected to do when President Obama nominated her to the bench: rubber-stamp his dubious policies once they landed before her, as expected.

The line – “There was no way the party could be wrong on anything” – jumped out at me, because I just saw it last night in a book published in 1954, called Don Camillo’s Dilemma by Giovannino Guareschi.
In the part I read last night, the Communist daughter of the Communist mayor of the town, Peppone, has learned she is one of the finalists in a beauty contest. Her boyfriend is incensed at the idea of her going to Rome to parade in front of people in a skimpy bathing suit. However, he cannot say so, as this would betray him as a bourgeois chauvinist, so instead he objects to the pageant itself, saying that it is bourgeois. She counters that it must be politically correct, because the party is sponsoring the contest and “There was no way the party could be wrong on anything.”
Ideological purity is nothing new and The Anchoress is correct to point out that the we have our own narrow-minded purists on our side as well. I expect every group has them. I’ve certainly seen it in my Catholic experience.
- On the right, a man who refused to sit with his family at Christmas Mass, because that side of the church would be receiving Eucharist from a lay minister and he only took it from the priest.
- On the left, a nun who refused to give Eucharist to a war veteran because he had carried a gun into battle and, in her mind, that made him guilty of mortal sin.*
*Please note: The commandment “Thou shalt not kill” is not translated correctly. The original is “Thou shalt not murder.” Anyone who watches crime procedurals should be very clear on the distinction between killing and murder. And Jesus never condemned soldiers; in fact, he commended one for his great faith.
The Anchoress’ article is a review of an op-ed in US News and World Report entitled “The Catholic Supreme Court’s War on Women.” The specific issue I find particularly interesting is that while the Left is unsurprisingly outraged at Sotomayor’s siding with the nuns, the outrage expressed in this particular screed is based entirely on the premise that she’s doing it because …. gasp …. she’s a CATHOLIC. [Cue creepy music and fog machine.]
The Anchoress has a way with words. I especially like this summation of the op-ed: “bigotry intent on fomenting paranoia.” Also, “Are not the women who serve the indigent poor as entitled to justice as anyone else? Do Justice and Mercy only trend in one direction, in Stiehm’s world? Are they only rewarded to the socially obedient? Oh, my! Steihm sounds exactly like what she imagines the church to be: an entity demanding only one’s strict and unthinking obedience. Funny how easily we can become precisely the thing we hate, isn’t it?”
