It wasn’t so very long ago that the Obama administration was very loudly and pointedly agonizing over the dreadful impact that the sequestration-imposed, across-the-board budget cuts were going to have on both the economy and the federal government’s ability to perform some of its basic functions.
Since all his bullshit hand-wringing, he has by-passed Congress, which is supposed to be in charge of his salary and benefits, and granted himself a substantial raise via executive order. He and his family just got back from Ireland and will shortly be leaving on a trip to Africa that is reportedly going to cost Americans $100 million. And, just to add insult to injury, employees of the IRS that targeted Obama’s political enemies during his second presidential campaign will soon be receiving $70 million in bonuses!
This week’s furloughs of air traffic controllers make it obvious the Obama-philes are in a PANIC because Americans are ignoring the sequester.
Why PANIC? Well, gosh, if the sequester proves to be painless, we might decide we could stand to make more cuts. Democrats can’t have that! Hence, air traffic control towers are being deliberately short-staffed to cause flight delays that Dems can blame on the sequester.
Apparently, the thing that triggered the PANIC was a poll of Americans that found:
“Sequester cuts are not affecting the economy” = UP 13 points over the prior month (from 27 to 40 percent)
“Sequester cuts are harming the economy” = DOWN 11 points (from 47 to 36 percent).
Also, some citizens have actually noticed that the stock market went up 10.7 percent. Oops.
So … will taking travelers hostage convince Americans that the White House should be allowed to raise taxes and increase spending?
Hmmm. I guess that depends on whether the traveling public is stupid enough to NOT figure out the FAA probably could have found a way to cut $600 Million out of their $15 Billion budget that did not impact travelers. Like, for example, maybe they could’ve all taken a 4% pay cut across the board or maybe they could’ve cut out most of the $800 Million they budget annually for consultants.
Even that notorious Obama-drooler, Candy Crowley, said on CNN that she thought flight delays were an absurd response to a pathetic requirement to cut 4% out of the FAA budget.
It’s not like the Big Bad Sequester was an actual CUT in federal spending. It was merely a slight reduction in the amount the Obama Democrats wanted to INCREASE spending!
Hopefully, Americans are waking up to the incompetence and deceit throughout the Obama administration, most recently demonstrated by Obama’s Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood, who is responsible for choosing to inconvenience travelers rather than cut a penny out of his pork-laden budget.

The same week that President Obama’s administration canceled already-scheduled White House tours FOR CHILDREN (blaming it on Evil Republicans, natch), the Obamas ALSO announced they would be hosting megastars Adele and Beyonce at Michelle’s 50th birthday party next year.
Word is the Obamas will pay Adele’s expenses as it’s a private party, not a State one. Okay. But the tours for citizens are done by volunteers; the “it’s too expensive! (sequester wah wah)” quibble was over extra expenses incurred by the White House budget, like for security and cleaning. Who do you suppose pays for THAT stuff when the Obamas have a bash? Hmm?

President Obama broke bread with a select group of twelve Republican Senators. (Was this in an upper room, do you suppose?) The event was alleged to be “part of a larger effort to jump start budget negotiations.” Say what? BUDGET negotiations? ::snort::
This president has not passed a budget EVAH. Even during his first two years in office, when he had Democrat majorities in BOTH houses of Congress, he didn’t get a budget passed.
During the second two years, Republicans had a majority in the House; THEY passed budgets. The Democrat Majority Leader in the Senate wouldn’t bring them to a vote and Democrat President Barack Obama did nothing to make him.
The situation is the same with this, the 113th Congress. Democrats hold majority control of 2 of the 3 bodies that are required by BY LAW to pass a federal budget EVERY SINGLE YEAR.
Oddly … the Left spins every iota of economic bad news as being due to eeeeeeeeeevil Republican obstructionism. Apparently, Republicans have super-human powers!
2007-2008: Republican President George W. Bush was more powerful than a locomotive, able to destroy the global economy, drive gas and food prices through the roof and put millions of Americans out of work despite having Democrat majorities in both houses of Congress!
2009-2010: Even in retirement, George W. Bush was faster than a speeding bullet, able to fly UNSEEN from Texas to DC to continue his evil fascist control over the Democrat-majority House, Democrat-majority Senate and Democrat-occupied White House!
2011-Present: Since gaining a majority in just the House of Representatives, Republicans are still leaping over the Democrat majority in the Senate and White House, totally preventing these valiant warriors-for-the-people from doing their jobs!
ABC News called Obama’s dinner last night an “extremely rare” meeting between this president and Republicans in Congress. Duh. I have no recollection that Obama has ever done such a thing before in the entire time he’s been in office.
He played golf with House Majority Leader Boehner once. Ooh. Ahh. And I recall one budget meeting with Republicans where he demonstrated all that famous “cool leadership” when he got really pissed about not getting his way and stomped out.

Remember when Malia and Sasha were going to be walking “their” dog, cuz Michelle and Barack just sooooooooo believe in teaching responsibility? It seems the real responsibility for meeting Bo’s needs is left to the taxpayers who cough up $102,000 a year to pay for a professional dog handler.
The Obama administration on Tuesday deployed a popular weapon in budget impasses with Congress: It informed lawmakers’ Washington, D.C., offices that public tours of the White House will be canceled indefinitely — just as the capital’s spring visitor season gets under way.
“Due to staffing reductions resulting from the sequester, we regret to inform you that White House tours are canceled effective Saturday, March 9, until further notice,” the administration informed House and Senate offices. “We very much regret having to take this action, particularly during the popular spring touring season.”
Tourists visiting the nation’s capital go through their Senators’ and House members’ offices to schedule the popular tours, which gives the administration one more device to put heat on the Republican-run House of Representatives.
The Senate and House offices were told not to get tourists’ hopes up. “Unfortunately, we will not be able to reschedule affected tours until further notice,” it told them.
I actually used to believe in that bipartisanship crap. But that was before I watched how today’s Democrats abuse the idea. They don’t meet anyone in the middle; they demand everything be exactly how they want it, 100% of the time, and the least little thing Republicans won’t cave on, they scream about compromise and bipartisanship.
It needs to stop. I think we should each mail cups to weak-willed Republicans (and I don’t mean coffee cups). Let ’em know how we feel about them bending over every time the Chicago Thug bullies them.
The Thomas More Law Center HAS filed the suit on behalf of Texas high school student, Brenda Brinsdon, alleging the McAllen Independent School District violated the 15-year-old girl’s constitutional rights when she was forced to recite the Mexican pledge and sing the Mexican national anthem. Brinsdon, who is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant and an American father, refused. She believed it was un-American to pledge a loyalty oath to another country. Ironically, the school district has a policy that prohibits a school from compelling students to recite either the American Pledge of Allegiance or the Declaration of Independence!
Early today, Bob Woodward (of Watergate and Deep Throat fame) criticized President Obama on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” saying it was a “kind of madness” for Obama to say he wouldn’t deploy an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf because of the sequester vote. budget concerns.
He asked if anyone could imagine George W. Bush or Ronald Reagan or “even Bill Clinton” saying they would not attend to our national defense because they’re pissed about some budget vote in Congress.
This evening, Woodward appeared on CNN saying that a “very senior person” at the White House contacted him after his appearance on “Morning Joe” and said he would “regret doing this.” “It makes me very uncomfortable to have the White House telling reporters, ‘You’re going to regret doing something that you believe in,'” Woodward said.

ICE is required by Congress to maintain 34,000 immigration jail beds. As of last week, the agency held an average daily population of 30,733 in its jails. Nevertheless, DHS up and decided several hundred of these “underflow” criminals should be released rather than kept behind bars or shipped back where they came from.
According to the National Immigration Forum, it costs the government about $164 a day to keep an illegal immigrant facing deportation jailed. In a report on immigration detention costs last year, the advocacy group said costs for supervised release can range from about 30 cents to $14 a day.

Obama’s Education Secretary lies about teacher layoffs from sequestration
Arne Duncan claimed on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that there “are literally teachers now who are getting pink slips, who are getting notices that they can’t come back this fall.” The only example he could cite was Kanawha County, West Virginia where officials say that the “transfer notices” (not pink slips) had nothing to do with sequestration or firing. They were sent, as required by law, to about 100 educators who may be moved to a different position next school year, because of a change in the way West Virginia plans to allocate funds for poor children.
