Judge Orders White House to Restore Jim Acosta’s WH Hard Press Pass – A Win for the Media Mob
A federal judge on Friday granted CNN’s request for a court order that would temporarily reinstate network correspondent Jim Acosta’s White House press pass, which had been suspended indefinitely in the wake of a fiery exchange between the reporter and President Donald Trump a week earlier.
The ruling from Judge Timothy Kelly, who was appointed by Trump, was the first victory for CNN in the ongoing case.
CtH: The way Dan Bongino wrote it up, I got a different impression.
Bongino noted that the judge decided that the White House had not given him due process in simply yanking his access without notice.
I kinda thought that meant that the WH can boot Jimbo the next time he acts like a butthead, provided they follow whatever “due process” is for yanking a reporter’s press pass.
I had hoped to post this graphic with “the judge rules with the WH”, but it’s too funny not to post anyway. And it could very well become valid again soon. I’m guessing Acosta is feeling way cocky about his “win” and will be even MORE obnoxious. I’d love to see the rest of the reporters turn on him. He’s not just rude to Trump. He’s rude to every other reporter in the room.
Get ready for a two year sideshow by one of the most unqualified idiots ever to achieve office.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says people on Capitol Hill keep mistaking her for an intern
At 29 years old, U.S. Representative-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be the youngest woman ever in Congress, but her first few days as an elected official have come with challenges — some of which have nothing to do with politics. As Capitol Hill holds orientation meetings this week, the incoming congresswoman said on Twitter that people keep mistaking her for an intern or someone’s spouse.
She revealed she can’t afford an apartment in D.C. until her congressional salary kicks in. The congressional neophyte has led a charge to push for a climate plan and even joined a protest outside the office of Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who is vying to be the next Speaker of the House.
CtH: Excuse me while I butt in on Pete’s post. I had this stuff for my Bits & Bytes, but I thought y’all would prefer it here.
Jarlsberg served up some excellent O-C snark today.
“Socialist Representative-elect Alexandria “Way Too Much Caffeine” Ocasio-Cortez is already dismayed with Washington because, during early orientation, people keep assuming that she’s just a young, clueless intern instead of a young, clueless member of Congress.
We’ve already heard from her own frighteningly toothy mouth that Cortez foolishly believed she would be “inaugurated” into her new job, and that she would suddenly have the power to sign bills into law. So perhaps she also assumed that she would have automatically received an aura of political power and authority which the rabble would be able to recognize from afar, no doubt shielding their eyes from the magnificent glare as they hastily knelt in her presence.
But nooOOooo. It turns out she just looks like any other ambitious, over-amped jerk in a city which was already crawling with them.
We sincerely look forward to her future crushing disappointments.
We’ve heard so many “dire” climate change predictions and NONE of them have come true. But Ryan Saavedra, a reporter from the Daily Wire, makes a cogent point.
Back in the 70s, Chicago was hit with a massive snowstorm, catching city officials and then-mayor Jane Byrne off guard. It eventually cost her her job and paved the way for the Windy City’s first (and only, so far) black mayor, Harold Washington.
Outrage after a few inches of snow brings NYC to a halt
A few inches of snow brought chaos and massive traffic to New York City roads on Thursday — prompting a storm of criticism for the city’s response to the wintry weather.
Traffic backed up for hours across New York as numerous streets went unplowed, but was especially bad in Upper Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island.
The snowstorm barreled into the city on Thursday afternoon, and ended up dropping some 6 inches on the city at Central Park after the forecast originally called for about 1 to 3 inches.
“Somebody dropped the ball. No way a few inches of slush should bring the greatest city in the world to its knees,” Democratic councilman Justin Brannan, of Brooklyn, wrote on Twitter.
Scott Stringer, the city comptroller and fellow Democrat, added: “The City clearly didn’t properly prepare for tonight’s snowstorm — it’s a mess.”
Democrats set their sights on $15 minimum wage hike after winning the House
“On the legislation front, there will be a push to raise the minimum wage,” a Democratic House staffer told the Examiner.
After flipping at least 38 seats in midterm elections, Democrats have gained a large buffer in the House to make an agenda and advance legislation. The Senate remains in the hands of a GOP majority and will likely kill many of the proposals passed in the House.
While powerless to push through legislation without GOP support, a Democratic House can make it difficult for Trump to continue enacting his agenda. In the past, though, Trump has given signs that he would support an increase to the minimum wage, which might be enough to get Republicans to support some measure, but likely not to the full $15 an hour.
Remember this: “For the first time in my life I’m proud of my country.”
Michelle Obama: ‘How Dare Someone Tell Me I Don’t Love My Country’
Obama, speaking in front of a large crowd at Chicago’s United Center, challenged anybody who called into question her love for the country.
“I’m finally claiming, my story is the quintessential American story. Yes, I’m black. Yes, I’m a woman and yes, I grew up working class and my parents didn’t get to finish college. How dare someone tell me I don’t love my country.”
Ohio lawmakers pass pro-life ‘heartbeart’ bill AGAIN after Kasich veto!!
Ohio has passed the “heartbeat” prolife bill again after Kasich vetoed it once already.
Ohio lawmakers on Thursday passed controversial legislation that aims to block women from getting an abortion after a fetal heartbeat has been detected.
The Columbus Dispatch reported that Thursday’s 58-35 vote marked the second consecutive session in which the House passed the bill. It passed the House and Senate in December 2016, but was vetoed by GOP Gov. John Kasich.
“The point is, it’s time. It doesn’t matter if the governor is with us or against us,” one of the bill’s sponsors, Rep. Christina Hagan (R), said. Governor-elect Mike DeWine (R) has said he would sign a so-called “heartbeat” bill, the paper notes.
GRAMMY REPORT:Happy 37th birthday to Mama Buzz (today) and 9th birthday to Lil Buzz (yesterday). Dearest, Army Princess, and Grandbabygirl left around noon today to beat the blizzard. Daisey and I are tired. But what a great way to get tired, right? Dearest won’t be back until Tuesday morning, so we have lots of time to catch up on our rest.
TODDLER JIM:A federal District Court Judge in D.C., Timothy Kelly, heard two hours of argument today on the motion for a temporary restraining order requested by CNN and Jim Acosta regarding his White House “hard pass.” He intends to announce his decision tomorrow. The tweets Legal Insurrection posted suggest Kelly was underwhelmed by CNN’s arguments.
TUCKER CARLSON:“Call CNN what you will. But don’t pretend they’re defenders of the First Amendment.” This interview with Victor Davis Hanson is well worth watching.
STORMY’S LAWYER: Michael Avenatti, the attorney for Stormy Daniels, has been arrested for domestic violence. Avenatti, who has publicly speculated about a presidential run in 2020, says he is “confident that I will be fully exonerated.” Wait, what? Aren’t we all supposed to #BelieveTheWoman these days? Back when Brett Kavanaugh was being slimed by baseless accusations against him, Michael Avenatti was perfectly fine with flipping due process the bird. But since landing in the hot seat himself, he’s had a change of heart.
CARAVAN INVASION:The Left says, “Don’t believe your eyes.” Denying reality is what they do. I am inclined to cite the Emperor’s New Clothes, but the idea of Nancy Pelosi in the buff is just too mind bleachy. I don’t understand AT ALL how “removing the border between the U.S. and Mexico” would work. Is Mexico going to cede sovereignty to us? Will Trump become their president too? If U.S. citizens decide to wander around Mexico without a visa or identification will they no longer be arrested? I’m thinking what they’re really talking about is not “no border between the U.S. and Mexico”, but a one-way border that protects Mexico’s sovereignty while totally eliminating ours.
CLASSY LEFTIST PROTESTERS:Ben Shapiro spoke at Ohio State this week and was protested, as usual. In case you had any doubts about the Left’s utter lack of anything good, just listen to what they were chanting.
#NEVERNANCY:Seventeen House Democrats have signed a letter vowing that they will not vote for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House. Unless Democrats “find” some more ballots, they will hold about 227 seats in the House next year, so if these 17 stick to their pledge, she could lack the necessary 218 votes needed to retake the gavel.
GOP LEADERSHIP:House Republicans have selected Kevin McCarthy to be the Minority Leader, 159-43. Steve Scalise, who was shot on a baseball field last year, unanimously won re-election to the No. 2 spot as whip. Liz Cheney will be GOP conference chairman.
FINAL PUSH:House Republicans still have the majority until January 3, and they’re hoping to make the most of it with key votes on the border wall and possibly more tax cuts.
KAMALA HARRIS:During the nomination hearing for Ronald Vitello to be director of ICE, Democrat Senator Kamala Harris talked to him like she was a mommy taking her naughty little boy step-by-step through what he had done and why it was wrong. Then she compared ICE to the KKK, which had just been likened to a terrorist group. The KKK? Really? That’s going to come as a surprise to ICE’s majority non-white work force.
DEMOCRATS HATE RELIGION:Tomorrow marks the 25th anniversary of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), which was signed into law by President Bill Clinton. Back then only 3 lawmakers voted against the legislation, but today over 170 House Democrats publicly back a bill which would effectively gut the RFRA.
OUCH:Now that I’ve got my new puter up and running, I’m happily able to play SCRABBLE again. My current opponents are Frankly the Nut and Mama Buzz. This was my rack yesterday. :0P
Melania ‘just a former model,’ too dumb to make staff decisions, CNN panel implies in head-spinning segment
When in business to subvert the President of the United States, one must seize on any and all opportunities and that’s just what occurred Tuesday when CNN’s Jake Tapper and a merry band of Trump-bashers went into full pearl-clutching mode after first lady Melania Trump’s office released a public statement saying deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel “no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House.”
After all, a “former model” can’t possible hold an opinion that’s substantive.
Looking past the fact that Tapper and his panel have no idea of the backstory at play here, it’s not like first ladies don’t wield significant influence. Nancy Reagan? Hillary Clinton? The only difference is that when it’s a Democrat, the first lady is propped up in the media as a strong, independent woman.
Under his rules, you are guilty unless you can prove you’re innocent beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Michael Avenatti arrested on felony domestic violence charges
Anti-Trump attorney Michael Avenatti was arrested Wednesday on charges of felony domestic violence that reportedly left the woman with a “swollen and bruised” face.
The lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels and one of Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s less-credible accusers was taken into custody Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed.
“We can confirm that today LAPD Detectives arrested Michael Avenatti on suspicion of domestic violence. This is an ongoing investigation and we will provide more details as they become available,” the L.A.P.D. wrote on its official Twitter account.
From the minute Paul Ryan announced he would not run again, his friend and fellow RINO, Kevin McCarthy was pre-ordained to be the minority leader. Jim Jordan is a conservative. They are not welcome in the GOP leadership. Only those who will put up token resistance to being steamrolled by democrats, even when they’re in the minority but act like they care for their voters are permitted.
Kevin McCarthy Beats Jim Jordan for House Leadership
California Congressman Kevin McCarthy has defeated Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan for House Minority Leader in the new Congress. McCarthy currently serves as House Majority Leader, which will change in January after Democrats took control of the lower chamber on Election Day
