I’m baaaaaaack!
Sorry for disappearing and big Thank Yous and KUDOS to Pete for keeping all y’all amused and informed. I am proud and relieved to announce that my computer files are FULLY BACKED UP through 2015. Phew.
It’s boring work, which is why I’ve put it off so long. But with my new puter arriving soon, it seemed the ideal time to get a round tuit! And while I was waiting on downloads, I got the kitchen all cleaned up … it needed it badly :oP … and made progress on a new dress … also needed badly.
Today, dh moved his office A/C to my office cuz I was melting. He’s going to get a new one when he gets back from this weekend’s jaunt to his family home to celebrate mass for the repose of his dad’s soul. (I can’t have new-new things in my part of the house.)
While he’s away, I plan to use the alone time to get caught up on-line and maybe, if my brain is up to it, dig into organizing the rest of the mess on my current computer. In the meantime, here are four flicks I’ve seen recently that I think are worth your time.

Prayers up for Senator McCain
John McCain has led a colorful life. The son of a Navy admiral, he served in Vietnam (a hell of a lot longer than John Kerry) and spent 4 years as a POW in the Hanoi Hilton. What actually happened while he was a captive will never be known. Whether he suffered torture or got special treatment in exchange for cooperating with his enemies is for other people to say.
What is known is that when he returned to civilian life he married a wealthy beer heiress, was elected to the House of Representatives, and later became a senator. He became one of the democrats’ best allies, nearly always siding with them on any important legislation. He handed the presidency to Barack Obama in 2008 and delights in going on television to trash his own party.
Although he has continually angered and frustrated conservatives, he now faces the fight of his life against a formidable foe. It’s a form of cancer called glioblastoma. It was discovered during a minor surgical procedure.
About 20,000 people in the U.S. each year are diagnosed with a glioblastoma. The American Cancer Society puts the five-year survival rate for patients over 55 at about 4 percent.
Because glioblastomas can grow rapidly, the most common symptoms are usually caused by increased pressure in the brain. These symptoms can include headache, nausea, vomiting, and drowsiness.
Glioblastoma can be difficult to treat because the tumors contain so many different types of cells, the association says.
As expected, the tributes have poured in for the senator from all over. Fortunately, he has the best healthcare on the planet, but cancer does not discriminate when it comes to its victims. My grandson Tyler is eight years old and has been doing battle with it for almost two years.

Our National Obsession
It was more than 20 years ago when I started a hobby collecting the toy cap pistols which were such a large part of my youth, when western shows were on television every day, and many happy hours were spent pretending to be Roy Rogers, Wyatt Earp, or the Rifleman. They were all good guys who ended up vanquishing evil by the end of the show.
I was first bitten by the collecting bug when I saw a toy from my past on a dealers table at a flea market. We both had good jobs then and enjoyed going to antique malls, flea markets, and especially auctions. Any auction with collectibles drew a lot of people looking to make a living selling on eBay, when it was in its infancy. You could get some good deals if you knew what anything was worth, but you needed experience or some kind of price guide. You needed to start with a warehouse full of merchandise and sell at least 75-100 items a week, shipping things out, while trying to maintain inventory and still make enough to live on.
Nowadays it is nearly impossible to get any kind of bargain at auction. Everybody now carries a smart phone. You no longer need any knowledge at all. See an item, look it up and get an idea of exactly what it’s worth. Fortunately, by the time these electronic gizmos took over the lives of most people in the free world I had retired and sold off nearly everything I had. There is no longer much need for education with a world of information at your fingertips.
This is a potentially dangerous situation, given the possibility our world could be turned to chaos after a serious cyber attack. Now comes the point of this mindless rambling:

Supposedly the RINOs have mutinied and seized control of the ship of state. You can blame Collins et al. for being first out of the gate in trampling repeal but you’re kidding yourself if you think they’re the only three members of the caucus who oppose it.
I understand the disgust with Murkowski and Capito for having voted for clean repeal in 2015, when they knew it would be vetoed by Obama, only to turn around now and refuse to vote for it when it actually matters. (Collins has opposed repeal all along.) That’s seven years of GOP posturing on ObamaCare in a nutshell: Lots of big talk about undoing Obama’s legacy and then no guts when an opportunity to do it actually arises. They’re shameless panderers. But, if they honestly believe that repeal now without a replacement would destabilize the already fragile ObamaCare exchanges, it’d be foolish to cast a destructive vote purely for the sake of consistency.

Some Republicans hinted Monday they are ready to strike back at Democrats for “abusing” a Senate procedure to slow down President Trump’s nominees.
Although all presidential appointments now only require a simple majority vote (known as a cloture vote) to move forward from debate for a final up or down vote, the minority can still demand 30 hours of non-continuous floor debate before the procedure.
During Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation earlier this year, Republicans changed the cloture rule to include SCOTUS picks to require only a simple majority vote.
However, the 30-hour debate rule remained, and Democrats have used the procedure to drag out Trump appointments over long periods of time — to the frustration of Republicans.

At the time that Kilby received the heart, he had already waited on the transplant list for a year and a half. He had also been in the hospital for 45 days after his first transplanted heart stopped working fully. After receiving the transplanted heart, Kilby recovered enough to live a normal life.
It was through this Facebook contact that Kilby’s aunt met Turney’s fiancé. This contact put a plan into effect that reunited Turney with her son’s heart just in time for the wedding.

Soldier salutes funeral procession in pouring rain
Erin Hester was on her way to work after a lunch break when a soldier got out of his car in the pouring rain to salute a funeral procession as it drove by in Vine Grove, Kentucky last week.
“As soon as he got out of the car, it made me tear up,” Hester told Fox News.
Kentucky law states that funeral processions have the right-of-way at intersections when accompanied by an escort.
Hester said that lately she had noticed that people weren’t pulling over and stopping for funeral processions in the town, adding that the soldier “went above and beyond
Hester posted a photo of the soldier on Instagram and Facebook and the post has received over 100,000 shares and 142,000 likes.
“It was true honor, respect, integrity, and humanity…I want people to see this,” she said.

‘Cereal’ burglar hog-tied on Lewis Co. roadside after stealing a bowlful
A homeowner in rural Glenoma in Lewis County got a big shock Monday morning when he awoke and found a stranger sitting at his kitchen table calmly eating a bowl of cereal. A few minutes later, the stranger found himself hog-tied along the roadside after he tried to flee.
Meanwhile, another resident of the home called 911 and deputies were dispatched to the scene.
The homeowner found the suspect — later identified as a 52-year-old transient from Tampa, Fla. — along the roadside about 500 feet from their residence and ordered him to the ground at riflepoint.
The suspect complied and the homeowner put away his rifle. The residents then hog-tied the suspect and waited for deputies to arrive, Breen said.

The Poltroon Party Gets a Reprieve on Obamacare Repeal
Mitch McConnell no doubt breathed a sigh of relief when John McCain’s surgery gave him an excuse to postpone a vote on the Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA). Now that Senators Rand Paul and Susan Collins have made it abundantly clear that no concession or reasonable argument will persuade them to do the right thing on Obamacare, every remaining GOP Senator has to support BCRA in order to get the bill passed. I Am So Pissed Off
The chances of my posting every day are getting more and more slim.One would think that being immersed in the perversity and filth that is the state of affairs would make one inured to the depravity that society has devolved into.I think of a time when people were not so quick to condemn anyone with an opposing point of view.We had morals,we did the right thing just because it was what we were taught.We worked hard;anybody taking handouts was a bum and women got married before they had kids.I have found myself retreating more and more into a shell,only coming out to spend time with my family or on the water with friends.Reading about the atrocities occurring on a daily basis it takes a lot to get me upset.It happened Saturday night,although it wasn’t reported until yesterday.

I must apologize for letting my anger and frustration get away from me.There was no word of this on the radio this morning and I’d bet anything the media will not ever mention it,since the killer was black and the victim was white.The muslim will probably get a citation and the white relatives will be left with nothing but bitterness.
It’s been a while since I went on a rant.Guess it was about time to vent my spleen.my frustration grows with every atrocity committed by democrats,knowing full well none of them will ever be made to account for the crimes they commit.

There is a new ABC/Washington Post poll bleating about how Trump’s approval numbers are “plummeting.”
It’s FAKE NEWS.
- The poll sample was 35% Democrat vs. 23% Republican vs. 35% Independent.
- America is currently 30% Democrat vs. 26% Republican vs. 42% Independent.
The poll over-sampled Democrats by 5 points and under-sampled Republicans by 3 points. That’s an 8 point error spread right there. Add in the 7 point under-sampling of Independents and you’ve got a poll that was designed to create a FAKE NEWS headline.
Interesting factoid: Even with this left-skewed sample, Trump scored 43% approval on the economy!
