   I think the GOP ought to agree to extend the payroll tax cut for another year, just to take that argument off the table for now. It is a trap. If they were going to “cave” on anything, this is the one to choose. I don’t think it will stimulate the economy, or be particularly meaningful to most workers, but the PR aspect is too easy for the Democrats. Hopefully, the appropriators in the House can come up with some cuts to offset it in ways that are not so easy to demagogue, while they work on a whole overhaul of the tax code, which is absolutely necessary.

   I have been scratching my head ever since I heard of the govt. yanking that Exxon lease in the Gulf. They have paid millions to the govt. for the lease and the permitting, voluntarily shut the operations down to improve safety long before the BP oil spill, and got their lease yanked and their investment wasted (after they discovered a billion barrels of oil) because of a lack of a timely signature on a contract with a co-producer. Sounds almost like a nationalization of an oil well to me.

   And Karl Rove is getting on my nerves, too. He always has. He was an adviser to one of the worst governors we have ever had in Virginia, and then when Bush was elected somehow that pitiful governor developed a national profile for a while and even thought he could run for president. If Karl Rove had been successful in promoting that idiot Gilmore to a national level, I shudder to think what the GOP’s chances of ever winning anything again would be.

     Karl Rove is pissing me off lately, too. One, Palin never named him in her SarahPac smack down, just said that anyone saying they have inside information on whether or not she’ll announce on the 3rd is wrong and may be trying to sabotage her (setting up expectations and when she doesn’t announce on that day supporters will be angry).
     He knows that if she’s not planning on announcing that day, she HAD to come out with some sort of statement, otherwise the expectation would be so high and there would have been a lot of disappointed people.

       Yep, and Rove must have a guilty conscience because the SarahPac post could have applied to Dick Morris and any number of other pundits who took the “she is announcing Sept. 3” ball and ran with it based on their own hunch and no actual information. It did not name any one person, so Rove must have a tendency to think it is all about him.

   Really liked the Postcards video. The audio clips were a fantastic collection. And — don’t you just want to slap those shoes off the desk, table, and chairs, and tell him to keep them off? Where’s the Queen of England when you really need her!
