The local GOP is doing house-to-house canvasing before tomorrow’s town board election.
The DemocRAT incumbents blew threw $5 million in town savings in 3 years and plan to blow $2 million more in 2012. That would leave the town only $1 million out of the comfortable emergency fund the Dems inherited, which would be eaten up in 2013 by their unsustainable spending, leaving them with the choice to cut spending or raise taxes.
You know which they’d choose. But they’re calling our efforts to out them on their spending “Piggygate” and our warnings that they will raise taxes dramatically next year “irresponsible scare tactics.”
They stoutly maintain the $8 million savings is still “there.” Well, it shows up on the little graph they put on their “Piggygate” poster, but it does not show up on any of the required financial reports they submitted to the state (which are available to anyone online).
One of them even admitted in public debate that they really had spent all that money, then their leader quickly changed the subject to THEIR big issue, which is “Republicans don’t give a crap about our water quality!!” (As if.) Naturally, the corollary to this is “Vote Democrat because we won’t allow any fracking!!”
They ignore our arguments that fracking would lower utility costs and has a 30 year history of zero damage to aquifers where it’s been done elsewhere.
Anyway, ranting aside (sorry, but I have to listen to Dearest about this stuff day after day and needed to vent) … I got GOOD news from one of the canvassers. As usual, he showed the town’s financial statement to a voter who then declared, “I’m a registered Democrat but I HAVE HAD IT with all this out-of-control spending!”

My kids have told me they get more training in when NOT to shoot than in HOW to shoot. A retired Colonel confirmed this is true.
I tried to find out how many guys went on that mission. At http://theweek.com/article/index/214878/the-elite-navy-seals-who-killed-bin-laden, it says, “How many SEALs were on the mission to get bin Laden? Reports vary, but there were apparently a few dozen.”
If Seals were the blood-thirsty, murderous cowboys the Left depicts, wouldn’t they have used more than TWELVE bullets???
