The White House tried to claim that Michelle Obama was referring to the Wizard of Oz, not Jesus, when she said,
“This President has brought us out of the dark and into the light.”
Suuuuuuuuuuuure she was. Check this out …
April 24, 2012: Obama asks students at UNC for an “Amen” [1:21]
Note how he wants an Amen for how awful it is that the average college graduate has about $25,000 in student loans.
But he has nothing to say about how his economic policies have depressed the job market so drastically that 50% of those graduates can’t find jobs.

If student loan bailouts are the next bailout, I’m going to have a tantrum. My husband and I received scholarships, and when those ran out we worked full time while paying for my husband’s classes one by one. We lived at home, I went to community college for my first two years (totally free for me). My parents were gracious enough to finish paying for my school even after we were married. If the government attempts to make this the next bailout, I’m going to flip my lid.

It took me 7.5 years for my degree and my husband 8 years. But we did it and we have no student loan debt.

I’m with you. I did a combo of state school, scholarships and parental help, got out in 4 years with a B.A. and no debt.
Then I worked and waited for two years until the program I wanted at Cornell decided I was committed enough (2 years applying) to give me a full ride (graduate assistant-ship).
While there, I hooked up with Dearest, who was back AGAIN trying to get through his B.Arch. It took him 17 years from high school to college grads. We paid off his mondo school loans when our eldest was in 6th grade.
