I’d like to hear from regular readers who are sick of the ads they see when they come to PoliNation.
I’ve researched and it appears our two options are to switch to one of the free ad free blog hosting services or stay here and pay $4 a month.
Mindful Webworkers mentioned that he switched to the Opera browser and doesn’t see pop ups.
I use Firefox and don’t notice them except at YouTube where little boxes appear on some of the videos as I’m watching them. But I am not sure if those are technically pop up ads or if the specific YouTuber gets paid to host them.
So anyway … thoughts anyone?

I have everything allowed for WordPress: javascript, cookies, pop-ups, flash. I do have the ad-blocker on, but it shows zero ads blocked on the front page and on this page. So I’m not going to be much help on your survey.
And, yes, the YouTube ads are a whole different thing. hooktube.com?
About Opera browser:
I switched to Opera so long ago I can’t even remember what I switched from. I know I used something between Netscape and Opera. Years ago, Opera changed hands. They abandoned a lot of what I liked about it, and changed to some Google-boogle (h/t jbob45) Chromish core. I almost quit, but researching software, especially browsers, is such a chore! Since then, Opera made many improvements. I have read that some who started Opera (having, I would guess, outlived their “shall not compete” sales contract) now have their own new browser, Vivaldi, which I keep telling myself I should check out. But…
I’m very much less geeky software-experimental than I was in my yout’. The graphics program I use is unsupported orphanware that dates back to when we had barely emerged from 256-color monitors and eight-dot-three filenames. I’ve been using the same email program since the last millennium (and it has all those decades of training in sorting the email – what’s junk, what goes in the family folder, and all). If it works, I’m not upgrading it. I’m old; I don’t want to work on the engine or shop for tire rims anymore, I just want to get to the post office.

LOL … you are always such a source of grins for me, Mindful. I switched from Explorer to Firefox on my pet geek’s recommendation. He is a retired Army Colonel and retired Cornell IT guy so if he says do it, I just salute and obey.
He also recommended CCleaner which I use somewhat religiously. It made an enormous difference on my previous puter. It may help my super fast new hand-me-down gaming puter from Daddy Buzz but it’s so fast, I can’t tell. And I haven’t managed to clog up the hard drive yet with a bajillion blogs and pictures of my lovies.
My last hand-me-down puter came with MS Word and Dearest got me a Photoshop from a client, but this one was dedicated to gaming and Mama Buzz took the games off, so I was left all a’hanging on the word processing and graphics editing front. Looking at hundreds of dineros I don’t have, I sent a help email to pet tech and he recommended two freebies that work just fine, thank you very much.
I’m still in the “it’s more trouble than its worth use Paint” stage with the graphics thing, but if I ever have a project that I actually care about, I’ll learn where the darned functions are. I spent a long time learning the little I could do on Photoshop. Like you, I just want to get from a to b, dang it. I’m still in the “resenting change” place, but I am a grown up. I will get over it.

I use Chrome to view the mobile version of this site and I see no ads. We use Opera on our laptop and have the ad blocker enabled.
