This seems both tragic and comical at the same time. McCarthy, who was being touted as the next tool of the democrat party, suddenly withdrew from the race for Speaker. The reaction to the news from different quarters was predictable, while his reasons are still unclear. He claimed “we need a strong leader.” It was also assumed it was the quote he gave a reporter about the Benghazi hearing pulling down Hillary’s poll numbers, which her flying monkey brigade instantly made into a campaign commercial.
There is a juicier rumor which I, in sympatico with Dianny, believe is the real reason. That is that in the gilded Sodom that is Washington D.C. it was discovered he was carrying on with NC representative and the Abortion Barbie of the Right, Renee Elmers. It just seems to be the kind of dirt the obama organization always profits from.C
Here’s Dianny’s piece:
My thoughts on McCarthy dropping out
But I don’t think it was Kevin’s blundering remarks about the Benghazi committee that fueled this decision.
I believe a story in Breitbart today may have a lot more to do with McCarthy’s decision not to keep his name in the running.
The Breitbart story is about North Carolina Congressman Walter Jones writing a letter urging candidates to drop out if they had even a whiff of a scandal that could destroy them or embarrass the Republican Party.
I saw that article and immediately thought of something I read on Twitter last week.
In case you missed it, Charles C Johnson from gotnews.com — admittedly not the most unimpeachable source — reported in late September that Kevin McCarthy has been carrying on an affair with North Carolina Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (which has resulted in Johnson receiving a cease and desist order this week from Ellmers’ attorney).

IN CASE YOU MISSED ANYTHING, HERE ARE SOME OF THE GORY DETAILS
McCarthy withdraws from speaker race, vote postponed
McCarthy’s decision, announced moments before Republicans were set to nominate their candidate, will postpone the vote for speaker. McCarthy had been running against Reps. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, and Daniel Webster, R-Fla., before he dropped out, and it’s unclear whether other candidates will now step forward.
‘ORANGE CRUSHED’ IS PULLING SOME SKULLDUGGERY TO TRY TO HAND-PICK HIS SUCCESSOR
While Boehner originally was set to resign at the end of the month, the speaker said in a statement Thursday afternoon he “will serve as Speaker until the House votes to elect a new Speaker.” He added, “I’m confident we will elect a new Speaker in the coming weeks.”

Louie Gohmert: Boehner Postponed Speaker Vote ‘Like Any Good Dictator Would’
LOUIE GOHMERT HAS NEVER BEEN ONE TO SUFFER IN SILENCE
“It actually pointed to the reason we need a new speaker, and that is because it’s like he feels he has to pick a successor, like any good dictator would,” the Texas Republican said in comments to TheBlaze Thursday night after House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy abruptly took himself out of the running as GOP members gathered for the secret-ballot vote. “But this is not supposed to be a dictatorship. This was an awesome time, a great opportunity for the conference to come together after Kevin’s announcement and have a family discussion.”

Republican: ‘Very real’ chance GOP will need Dems to elect Speaker
APPARENTLY NASTY PELOSER DIDN’T GET HER PACK OF LIBERAL JACKALS TO COOPERATE TO KEEP THE SPEAKERSHIP IN THE HANDS OF ONE OF HER PUPPETS
Republicans may be forced to solicit Democratic help to break their Speaker stalemate, Rep. Charlie Dent (R) said Thursday.
The Pennsylvania centrist, who often serves as a mouthpiece for outgoing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), said there is only a small handful of Republicans who can win 218 GOP votes to fill Boehner’s shoes. The trouble is, none of them wants the job.
“We may need a bipartisan coalition to elect our next Speaker,” Dent told reporters after Thursday’s closed-door GOP meeting. “That’s a very real possibility right now, and I think anybody who’s honest about this knows it. They may not want to talk about it, but they know it.”

Report: Boehner phones Paul Ryan, asks him to run for Speaker — or else he might stay on as Speaker himself
REMEMBER HE WAS OUR VP NOMINEE LAST ELECTION
This makes three top House Republicans who’ve endorsed Ryan in the last two days as a potential uniting force. Yesterday it was Trey Gowdy:
“To me, just speaking as one member, the smartest kid in the class is Paul Ryan,” Gowdy said. “If I had one draft choice and I was starting a new country, I would draft Paul to run it. Not because I agree with him on everything, but because he’s super, super smart. And when someone is super, super smart and is not interested, that tells you something. It tells me a lot”

Trump takes credit for McCarthy dropping out
HEEEERES DONALD!
Donald Trump is taking credit for House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) dropping out of the race for Speaker.
“They’re giving me a lot of credit for that, because I said you really need somebody very, very tough and very smart — you know smart goes with tough, not just tough,” the Republican presidential front-runner said at an event in Las Vegas. “I know tough people. They’re not smart, that’s the worst, OK? That’s the worst. You’ve gotta be smart.
“But we need smart, we need tough, we need the whole package — you know, like me,” he added.

Dem. Leader: McCarthy Exit a ‘Sign That Republicans Are Unfit To Lead’
STENY HOYER SPEAKS OUT IN THE SPIRIT OF TRUE DEMOCRAT BI-PARTISANSHIP
As a result of their divisions and their efforts to disrupt Congress’s work, we’ve experienced a government shutdown, a near-default on our debt, and too many missed opportunities to grow our economy and support job creation,” Hoyer said in a statement.
He blamed the splits on GOP conservatives, not the establishment side of the GOP.
“With Speaker [John] Boehner resigning last month and Leader [Eric] Cantor losing his primary election last year, this is just the latest chapter in the history of an extreme wing of the Republican party controlling their conference,” Hoyer said.

Live Updates From Inside the Chaos: House Speaker’s Race Heating Up as Donor Class Tries To Draft Paul Ryan
MONEY TALKS…BULLSHIT WALKS
Friday Stein tweeted that Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL)
18%
“says Paul Ryan would be a good Speaker and work w/ Dems. Then says he probably just hurt Ryan’s chances by saying that.”
Gutierrez and Ryan have worked together in the past, notably on comprehensive immigration reform.
In that pursuit, in 2013 Gutierrez said he saw Ryan as his “ally” in fighting for amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Gingrich open to return to Speakership
ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS????
“If you were to say to me 218 have called you up and given you their pledge, obviously no citizen could ever turn down that kind of challenge,” Gingrich said, as first reported by the Washington Free Beacon.
He compared the scenario to George Washington coming out of retirement to become America’s first president.
“This is why George Washington came out of retirement — because there are moments you can’t avoid,” Gingrich said.
