The laughs just keep coming!

OMG! Ann Romney might have tried to use an expired coupon once upon a time! Call the Media!

Oh wait. Somebody already did.

Posted today in comments @ PoliNation: “I heard a former grocery checker on the radio say that Mrs. Romney once tried to use an expired coupon. Horrors. How could we have such a dishonest first lady!”

ARE THEY KIDDING?! ROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

(If Ann only got one coupon wrong, she’s way ahead of me. The expiry dates on the darn things are so small, you need a magnifying glass to read them.)

The comment continued: “Not like the the paragon of virtue now in the White House. You know, the one who fabricated the story about why she no longer has a law license.”

Oh, yeah. THAT old story … one of the many the media ignored in favor of things like criticizing Sarah Palin for NOT staying home with her five kids.

Odd how THAT tune has changed … now Ann Romney is a useless blight on society because she DID stay home with her five kids.

At least Ann actually raised her five boys.

Michelle Obama was sure she would need more help with her two girls than her White House staff of 60+ could provide, so her Mommy moved in to the First Mansion too.

For those of you who are late to the party, the media portrayed Michelle as a “distinguished attorney” who chose to forgo the big bucks in corporate law so she could “have a career motivated by passion and not just money.”

Blah blah blah. Outside the lapdog media’s kennels, her “career” doesn’t look so hot.

1988: Michelle Robinson was graduated from Harvard Law School and walked right into a job as an associate lawyer at the prestigious Chicago corporate law firm of Sidley & Austin. Typically, incoming law grads are given the summer to prepare for the bar.

97% of Harvard Law School (ranked 3rd in nation) graduates who took the NYS bar for the first time in 2007 passed.

89% of Loyola University Chicago School of Law (ranked 67th in nation) graduates who took the IL bar for the first time in 2010 passed.

1989: Michelle passed the exam second time around and was admitted to the Illinois bar.

1991: She left Sidley & Austin. In June of 2008, she told the New York Times it was because she had been unfulfilled by her law career and “wanted to have a career motivated by passion and not just money.” This is what a peer of hers at Sidley had to say:

Michele’s office was on my floor at the firm and I would walk by it everyday. She was rarely in the office, had very limited work papers in her office, yet apparently was drawing an associate salary while not practicing law, and billing huge hours as is ordinary for an associate. My fellow associates and I worked to 10 p.m. customarily and many times to 2 to 3 a.m., every weekend, meeting the crushing work loads. But Michele never had to do that, which understandably caused a lot of resentment amongst fellow associates. I have no first hand knowledge since it would be a private and confidential arrangement, but the associate scuttlebutt drawn from partner “leaks” was that she was drawing a firm salary while working full time for City Hall doing political fund raising and “special projects” work for the Daley Machine. The word was that this arrangement benefited the firm because many times their real estate clients had city zoning and other legal issues that required city approvals or resolution, so the firm needed to be viewed as on the city hall team and accede to their wishes. So from the very start of her career my opinion is that Michelle was the beneficiary of the nefarious city hall back scratching schemes. As demonstrated by The Obama File, she seems to have benefitted from these “arrangements” her entire professional career. I have my doubts that she did much at the University of Chicago to justify such an enormous salary and have never heard tell of any significant projects she was handling, let alone any accomplishments or major successes in the healthcare field.

Michele at one point did leave officially to work for the Daley Administration, but was already well engaged in political activities during the day and regularly absent from the firm for a lengthy period of time before she left. I can’t recall the precise timelines but I would estimate that she was listed as an associate at the firm but not carrying a regular work load for well over one year, maybe even two years before she “left” for the City Hall payroll.

On a personal note, Michele was simply the most angry, arrogant and caustic young person I have ever met in my life. She simply would not engage with her fellow associates and apparently viewed herself as superior to them. I personally observed that she would only engage with partners, most notably senior partners. Never a friendly smile or good morning for staff or fellow associates as she walked past them day after day after day. I remember one particular instance where a group of associates and I were chatting at a firm cocktail party and I noted how no one seemed to know Michele but were constantly gossiping about her. The gang just commented about how arrogant and unfriendly she was and never around. I commented that maybe she was just uncomfortable as a Southside girl being around all of these elitist, snobby white folks at a silk stocking firm. So I walked over to her when she was getting hors d’oeuvres and introduced myself as a friendly overture. She gave me a dirty look, literally threw her head back and turned her back on me and walked back over the a group of senior partners gathered around Eden Martin! As if you say how dare you approach me you filthy little underling. I went back to my group of associates friends feeling embarrassed and they just chuckled and said “told ya’.” So, Michele was not the sweet or kind person the media would like us to believe. She was an elitist and only was interested in those who could advance her personal interest, not ordinary folks. To this day, that episode was the rudest I have ever been treated by anyone, and there are lot of rude lawyers out there.

[But OMG, fifty years ago, Mitt Romney might have said something mean to some kid in his high school! Get a camera crew!]

1991 to 1993: Michelle worked as an assistant for Valerie Jarrett, then-deputy chief of staff for Chicago Mayor Richard Daley.

1993: Just four years after her admission to the Illinois bar, her right to practice was rescinded by court order.

Note: The ARDC is NOT the Illinois Bar where one can voluntarily become an inactive attorney by simply not paying the renewal fee or keeping up with required in-service coursework. The ARDC is the agency of the Supreme Court of Illinois which registers attorneys and investigates complaints of illegal, unethical or dishonest conduct filed against attorneys holding a license to practice law in Illinois.

Upon investigation, the Supreme Court of Illinois will ultimately decide if a lawyer should be censured (publicly rebuked), suspended (having the law license to practice either taken away for a certain period of time or placed on a probationary period) or disbarred (having the law license taken away indefinitely). Michelle Obama was disbarred.

1993: At the same time she was running from her dirty secret, Michelle also left the mayor’s office. Connected? Ya think?! So what does a not-terribly-bright, pampered, bitter, black Chicago politico’s daughter do when she manages to screw up that badly? She sticks her face in the public trough and becomes a community organizer, or course.

Michelle launched the Chicago office of Public Allies, a taxpayer-funded organization that paid young people to receive training in Left-wing politics and activism, then helped place them in positions with nonprofit groups and government agencies.

  • Michelle’s husband, Barack Obama, was a member of the group’s founding advisory board.
  • President Clinton declared Public Allies a model for national service.
  • First Lady Hilary Clinton hosted a Rose Garden reception for the group.

Does the media care? Nah.

They remind me of The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss: “Poor Dick and Sally. It’s cold and wet and they’re stuck in the house with nothing to do . . . until a giant cat in a hat shows up, transforming the dull day into a madcap adventure and almost wrecking the place in the process!”

Sacrilege in the White House

Theologian Paul Begley of Indiana does a ten minute sermon on Michelle’s Jesus reference of April 17, 2012. He is NOT pleased!

Personally, I think Begley is being way too generous to Michelle in passing this off as a faux pas by her speech writers. This Obama-as-Jesus meme has been going on for years and the Obamas have both actively participated in it.

I’ve been collecting stuff about the Left’s elevation of Obama to some kind of divinity. [Brace yourself. There is some serious sacrilege here.]

After Michelle’s speech, there was an uproar from Christians, who conveniently do not put out fatwas on heretics like the Obamas (which is no doubt why they are NOT comparing Obama to Mohammed). Still … while there were no calls for stoning or beheading, there was enough outrage from Christians that the White House talking head tried to spin it that Michelle had not been referencing Jesus and the Bible, but Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz.

Yeah, right. Maybe in some all-gay neighborhood, the audience would think “Oz”, but Michelle Obama was speaking in the Bible Belt, for crying out loud!

Besides that, exactly one skinny week after Michelle’s speech, the Christian uproar and Jay Carney’s spin cycle, Barack Obama himself put on this “Can I have an Amen on that” for students at UNC.

We’ve seen how Obama treated the Catholic bishops’ protest over the HHS mandate.

March 6, 2012: Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic bishops, has released a public letter today detailing a stunning conversation he and other bishops had with top White House officials about the controversial Obama HHS mandate. The bishops were asked to come to the White House to “work out the wrinkles” of the mandate, but when they got there, were just told that, as far as Obama et al. are concerned, the mandate is carved in stone.
The White House Press Secretary sneered at the bishops, saying they had always opposed Health Care anyway, which is just flat out wrong. Most of them have supported it for decades, ignoring the warning bells tolled by the minority about exactly what has come about. Dolan said, “The White House seems to think we bishops simply do not know or understand Catholic teaching.”

Preacher Obama wants an Amen

The White House tried to claim that Michelle Obama was referring to the Wizard of Oz, not Jesus, when she said,

“This President has brought us out of the dark and into the light.”

Suuuuuuuuuuuure she was. Check this out …

April 24, 2012: Obama asks students at UNC for an “Amen” [1:21]

Note how he wants an Amen for how awful it is that the average college graduate has about $25,000 in student loans.

But he has nothing to say about how his economic policies have depressed the job market so drastically that 50% of those graduates can’t find jobs.

Understanding Real Women

Hilary Rosen’s attack on Ann Romney sparked an uproar that led to her apologizing and Obama and the White House distancing themselves from her remarks.

But White House visitor logs show that she has visited the White House at least 35 times and had several direct meetings with President Obama and with several of his senior advisers (Valerie Jarrett, David Axelrod, Jim Messina).

I believe Rosen’s attack expressed the Left’s genuine contempt for any human being who checked R when they registered to vote and that all their subsequent back-peddling is due exclusively to the fact that the attack hurt them politically.

We’ve seen this kind of thing over and over. IMHO, they’re saying what they really believe and only back-peddle when it explodes in their faces. Remember these gems?

Barack Obama’s reference to bitter, gun and Bible clinging bigots [:25]

And they’re not all rethinking the decision to sneer at Stay At Home Moms.

I don’t know who the blonde commentator on the FOX clip is, but I think she is absolutely dead on about the Left seeing people only as voting blocs. Michelle Malkin summarizes nicely:

What’s changed in 2012 is the Internet revenge of thousands of conservative female activists who have played a larger role than ever in controlling political narratives. These include tea party leaders such as Breitbart.com editor Dana Loesch, national grassroots groups such as Smart Girl Politics, the proliferation of conservative female bloggers and podcasters, and the critical mass of stay-at-home moms, work-at-home moms and young conservative women flocking to Twitter.

The Obama family dysfunction

It appears that teen marriages and abandonment were part of Obama’s family tree on both sides.

Barack Obama Sr. had several wives (two at a time on more than one occasion), plus a mistress, who collectively bore him 6 children. He left his first wife and family in Africa when he went to Hawaii to attend college. While there, he allegedly married Obama’s 18-year-old mother and fathered Barack Jr.

The validity of this relationship is questionable. Nobody remembers seeing them together. Nobody attended the wedding. And there is no record of the marriage. There is also no evidence they ever lived together. By all accounts, Barack Sr. was an abusive alcoholic who finally killed himself driving drunk at age 46.

After Baby Barack arrived, he and his mother lived with her parents, then moved to Seattle until after Barack Sr. had left Hawaii for Harvard, when they moved back to Hawaii. While at Harvard, Barack Sr. divorced Barack Jr.’s mother and hooked up with another American, who bore him 2 sons and followed him back to Africa.

Barack Jr.’s mother remarried and moved to Indonesia with her new Indonesian husband, who changed the boy’s name to Barry Soetoro and put him into a Muslim school. They had a daughter, Barack’s half sister Maya, when Barack was 9 years old. A year or so later, Barack Jr. was shipped back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents and his name was changed back to Barry Obama. He graduated from the private Punahou High School in 1979.

The Indonesian marriage also failed, but Barack’s mother mostly stayed in Indonesia working on her doctoral thesis. Maya’s father remarried and had two other children. Maya was home schooled by her mother and then attended Jakarta International School from 1981 to 1984, then moved to Hawaii to attend Punahou, from which she was graduated in 1988.

Barack Jr. was supported primarily by his maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who worked at a bank. Her husband, Stanley, doesn’t appear to have been steadily employed, though he reportedly kept control of the family car while his wife commuted to work on the public bus.

Stanley’s parents seem to have followed a similar pattern. In 1920, Stanley (aged 2) is recorded in the census with his brother Ralph (aged 3), their mother Ruth (aged 19) and father Ralph (aged 26). They were living with Ruth’s parents. Ralph was working as an auto mechanic. Ruth’s father was an oil man.

Other sources say that Ruth committed suicide when her boys were 8 and 9 and that young Stanley found her body. It appears they stayed on with the maternal grandparents, while their dad moved back home with his parents in another county.

On the 1930 census, the boys are enumerated with their maternal grandparents in Butler County, Kansas. Their maternal grandfather and provider (aged 56) is listed as an oil pumper. His wife (aged 53) appears to have been the primary homemaker. The 24 year old maiden aunt worked as a stenographer at the oil company, presumably helping to support the grandmother’s father, who was elderly and retired, plus the two boys. Ralph had a paper route.

In that same 1930 census, Obama’s great-grandfather, Ralph Sr. (aged 38), is shown living with his parents in Sedgwick County, Kansas. Ralph is working as a druggist in a retail drug store. His father is a medical doctor. There is also another boy, Russell Jackson (aged 13), who is listed as a grandson. He was therefore Ralph Sr.’s nephew and the first cousin of Obama’s grandfather and great uncle. In fact, he was the same age as his cousin Ralph.

In other words, when Barack’s grandfather and brother were young, they lived in a household of six that was supported by one adult male laborer, an adult female stenographer, and a teen-aged boy’s paper route, while their dad lived in another county in a household of four that not only was supported by two adult male professionals, but also included their father’s nephew who was their same age.

Sheesh. Is it any wonder Wikipedia notes that Stanley was a rebellious teenager who allegedly punched his high school principal? It also says he spent some time knocking around, riding the rails, before marrying Madelyn Lee Payne on her prom night, May 5, 1940.

In Barack Obama’s memoir, Dreams From My Father, he describes Madelyn’s parents as “stern Methodist parents who did not believe in drinking, playing cards or dancing.” She liked to go to Wichita, Kansas to see big band concerts, not likely to be something her folks approved of. That’s how she met Stanley Dunham.

Nineteen months after they were married, Stanley enlisted in the Army on January 18, 1942. His daughter, Obama’s mother, was born November 29, 1942.  During the war, Madelyn Dunham worked on a Boeing B-29 assembly line in Wichita. Stanley served 3½ years, then was discharged August 30, 1945. After the war, the family moved to Berkeley, California, back to El Dorado, Kansas, then to Seattle, Washington, then to a Seattle suburb, then to Hawaii. Stanley sold furniture. His wife was an officer at a bank.

Stanley died in Hawaii in 1992. His wife cared for Ann during her final illness until she died in 1995, also in Hawaii, when Barack was in Chicago, running for his first State Senate seat. Madelyn died November 2, 2008 at age 86, just before Obama was elected president.

To their credit, he and Michelle succeeded in breaking the Obama and Dunham pattern of teen marriages and abandonment of children to the care of grandparents.

Obama Favors Students Getting Paid to Screw While Screwing Over Troops

The past fortnight has really been a microcosm of what Barack Obama is really about.

The media went off in an orgasmic explosion this morning, practically wetting themselves to jump on the “story” about Rush Limbaugh calling Georgetown Law student/professional activist Sandra Fluke a slut.

Now, in the interest of fairness, I will say that I think Mr. Limbaugh made a poor choice of words in the matter. The proper term for a person who expects his or her sex life to be subsidized by, well, anyone, is “whore.” But I digress.

Not one to miss a moment like this, our dear President reportedly called Ms. Fluke personally to make the sad, sad puppy dog eyes with her over the phone. (I guess asking her over for a beer would have raised too many eyebrows.) And in so doing, we find Mr. Obama yet again offering his Presidential condolences to someone who, in all actuality, owes us a massive apology.

I’m referring, of course, to what Sarah Palin brilliantly dubbed the President’s “naive apology to savages” in Afghanistan. For anyone who was stuck under a rock as these events unfolded, here’s the short version: Our troops in Afghanistan disposed of desecrated Korans – desecrated, I might add, by Taliban prisoners they were holding – in the manner proscribed by Islam, which is burning them. For our troops’ heinous act of respecting the religious traditions of a country in which people are still trying to kill them, there were riots in the streets and some of our troops were murdered by Afghani soldiers. In what has got to be the most dickless move of the 21st century, President Obama apologized. And when his initial apology precipitated more riots and more murders of our troops, he apologized again.

What was the definition of insanity again?

Now, I live on a military base. My husband is in no immediate danger of deployment, but I do have two neighbors who were recently deployed to Afghanistan, leaving wives and children back home. Another neighbor is expecting her husband to be home soon. I spent some time chatting with one of those wives, a friend of mine, yesterday, and found out that she won’t even ask her husband if he’s near all the rioting. She’s already dealing with some mild insomnia, you see, and has no desire to make it worse.

These are good people, brave men – one of whom, judging by the bumper sticker, actually voted for the guy whose spineless, pantywaist penchant for inappropriate apologetics has now put him and his comrades-in-arms in even more danger of coming home in a box.

Just when I thought my indignity meter could go no higher, Obama dropped another bomb on the military in the form of his budget proposal, in which he outlines his desire for enormous increases to Tricare premiums for veterans, active duty military, and their families.

It was back during the New Deal era that companies started offering benefits as part of employee compensation packages, mainly as a way to get around FDR’s arbitrary salary caps; as such, it is now common for people to take a lower-paying job because the benefits make up for the cut in pay. It’s no secret that military personnel receive a fraction of the take-home pay that they would be getting in the private sector, but this is offset somewhat by housing benefits and Tricare, the military health care program. (Also, the fact that the military paid for your training in the first place.)

Anyone who’s had to deal with the labyrinth of red tape that is Tricare can tell you that it’s not ideal. This is not because of incompetence – these aren’t graduates of BillyBob’s Online School of Self-Medicatin’ or anything – it’s the result of the unholy trinity of massive bureaucracy, lots of patients, and cushy, cushy job security. My most recent experience in military healthcare was actually pretty decent, but previous ones have ranged from facepalm-worthy to out-and-out infuriating. It’s a pretty clear-cut case of “You get what you pay for” — and now the Dumb Bastard wants to jack up premiums by up to 300% while cheerfully whistling past his union buddies??

(As an aside: my favorite question that I got from ObamaCare supporting friends was, “Well, Tricare is better than nothing, right?” Yes. Yes it is. And dog food is better than starving; that doesn’t mean you force everyone onto the Purina diet.)

In one of the speeches Michelle Obama gave on the 2008 campaign trail, she promised something to the effect of, “Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual.” I think we can count this as a promise kept …
