New York Mayor Bill De Blasio is a big-time NRA-hater and gun control advocate.
The deputy director of his office of Criminal Justice was arrested near the scene of a shooting in Queens Saturday night for illegal weapons possession.
A loaded, 9mm semi-automatic pistol with its serial number defaced was hidden in the car’s glovebox and there was a spent shell casing on the floor near her feet. Stevens, 42, and the two men arrested with her, also had knives on them.

It is said one should not speak ill of the dead. In this case, that seems an impossibility. On August 25, 2009, Senator Edward Moore Kennedy finally went to his fate in the tenth circle of Hell he worked hard to earn. He was elected to the Senate in 1962 and spent the next 40 years living off the memory of his murdered brothers. At his funeral the press and his co-conspirators in the Senate heaped nauseating praise on the creature who made waitress sandwiches with Chis Dodd at La Brasserie.
A film about his killing of an innocent woman was released last week. In full disclosure, I have not, nor do I intend to see this movie. It comes 50 years too late and hardly mentions Mary Jo Kopechne, his victim. There is a meme going around that in the War on Women, Kennedy is the only one with a confirmed kill. This is not funny. It is a fact.

Media Celebrated Known Sexual Harasser Ted Kennedy
Listening to liberal journalists denounce Roy Moore, Al Franken and John Conyers, you’d think the media had zero tolerance for politicians with a known history of sexual misconduct. But the plain truth is the media have been complicit in normalizing, even justifying, such behavior for decades – if it helped protect the cause of big government liberalism.
Exhibit A: Ted Kennedy.
For decades, the Massachusetts Senator and known sexual harasser was celebrated by the media, even though tales of his womanizing ways were well known by reporters who covered Capitol Hill. From his leaving Mary Jo Kopechne to drown in a car in Chappaquiddick, to his propositioning of a 16-year-old girl from his limo to the sexual assault of a Washington D.C. waitress, liberal reporters excused his misdeeds because the “Liberal Lion of the Senate” was advancing leftist legislation.

Ted Kennedy, who has just participated in a sailboat regatta shows up at the party, toasts all the girls as part of the Kennedy family and quickly finds himself sitting on the couch with Kopechne. They eventually slip away from the party for a drive into American history.
Everything Kennedy does in the hours after the accident only makes the situation worse. He is like a child who knows he has done something that will mean real trouble but instead of owning up, continually tries to deny reality or somehow scheme his way out of it.
Kennedy attends the funeral for Kopechne and wears a neck brace against everyone’s advice, a move he ultimately regrets. Shortly after that, it is Kennedy himself who comes up with the idea of making a nationally televised statement about the incident, a concept which is cheered by his advisers.
He toys with the thought of using this address to resign from the senate but ultimately decides to put the onus of that decision on the voters of Massachusetts. It is at this point, that Kennedy finds his way out and it is presented as cynically as it sounds.
Chappaquiddick’ Distorts a Tragedy
In a New York Times op-ed published Friday, a liberal journalist and film critic complained the new film Chappaquiddick was a “character assassination” of its central character, Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy.
In “How ‘Chappaquiddick’ Distorts a Tragedy”, Neal Gabler, who is working on a biography of Kennedy complained the film, released in theaters Friday, has been “heavily promoted by conservative media outlets, and reviewers across the political spectrum have praised what they deem its damning but factual approach. Damning it is; factual it is not.”
Many have wondered when the rhetoric between parties began to coarsen. I believe it may have been when Kennedy shamelessly savaged Judge Robert Bork during his Supreme Court nomination hearing. He accused Bork of relegating women to back alley abortions with coat hangers.
George W. Bush allowed him to write the education bill which has hastened the transformation of our school system from an educational exercise to one of social indoctrination.
He is but one example of the democrats’ greed for money and power.

The biggest problem for liberals when it came to Bork was not his originalist views of the Constitution, or that he pulled the trigger for Nixon in the so-called Saturday Night Massacre, but the fact that he was brilliant and could be expected to push the court to the right for generations to come — hence he had to be destroyed.
How seemingly gracious of Biden to acknowledge Bork as legal exemplar, albeit long after it mattered and seeing how it is now beyond dispute.”

Next week is Isabel’s confirmation into the Catholic church so I get to see them again. We plan to take her to her favorite Chinese buffet.

Massachusetts’ Ban On Assault Weapons Doesn’t Violate 2nd Amendment, Fed Judge Rules
A judge in Massachusetts on Friday ruled against a lawsuit that questioned the state’s ban on assault weapons and large-capacity magazines, declaring that the weapons were not protected by the Second Amendment.
Assault weapons are considered to be military firearms, U.S. District Judge William Young said in his ruling, therefore disqualifying them from being included in a citizen’s right to “bear arms.”

An on-again, off-again effort to restrict harmful methane emissions on federal lands is off — again.
A federal judge in Wyoming has halted the clean-air rule indefinitely, saying it “makes little sense” to force oil and gas companies to comply with the Obama-era rule when the Trump administration has moved to roll back the 2016 regulation.

Bank Tip Exposes Illegal Workers at Meatpacker
The federal immigration raid on a Tennessee meatpacker was prompted by a bank alert showing large cash withdrawals for payrolls, according to a federal affidavit.
The cash payments since 2008 “were in excess of $25 million,” according to the federal affidavit posted by a local TV station, WATC.com.
Ninety-seven people were detained in the raid on Tennesee-based Southeastern Provisions, including 10 people arrested on federal charges and one person who was arrested on state charges. Of the remaining 86 people, 54 were detained, likely for deportation, while 32 were released.

100,000 California teenagers are now pre-registered to vote

The left despises the military. They make no bones about it. They don’t understand what would motivate people to feel such a deep, abiding love of this country and the sense of duty to God and our Constitution that they would volunteer to go into harm’s way and risk maiming or death to defend it. It’s called guts. Democrats don’t understand it and never will.
The same duty to our nation is the spirit that would make a lot of patriots willing to defend the Second Amendment up to and including the ultimate sacrifice. That’s why I doubt in their maniacal zeal to take away our guns they realize SWAT teams going door to door to try to confiscate legally owned forearms would lead to bloodshed. Even the lamestream media would find it difficult to ignore that kind of savagery. There’s no guarantee that Americans would fire on innocent Americans if ordered to. They are trying to steal away our rights by other methods. Deerfield, a Chicago suburb an hour from where I live, is trying to force citizens to surrender their firearms or face fines of up to $1,000 per day. State and local legislatures CANNOT pass laws to countermand our constitutional rights. That doesn’t mean they won’t try.

The Village Board of Trustees unanimously approved a ban on certain types of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, amending a 2013 ordinance that regulated the storage of those items.
The new ordinance prohibits the possession, sale and manufacturing of certain types of assault weapons and large capacity magazines within the village, according to the ordinance. One change from the law as it was originally discussed exempts retired police officers from the ban, according to Village Manager Kent Street.
Violations carry a fine of between $250 and $1,000 per day, according to Matthew Rose, the village attorney. He said the fine is levied each day until there is compliance.

Seattle Police Confiscated 27 Firearms Since July Under ‘Extreme Risk Protection Order’
Seattle police have lawfully confiscated 27 firearms from residents since July 2017 thanks to the help of a new “Extreme Risk Protection Order.”
Washington is one of six states (California, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana and Oregon) with red flag laws. 18 other states, and the District of Columbia, have proposed adopting similar measures in the wake of the Parkland shooting.

Proposal Would Limit When California Police Can Shoot Guns
Several lawmakers and the family of a 22-year-old unarmed black man who was fatally shot by police are proposing Tuesday that California become the first state to significantly restrict when officers can open fire.
That means officers would be allowed to shoot only if “there were no other reasonable alternatives to the use of deadly force” to prevent imminent serious injury or death, said Lizzie Buchen, legislative advocate for the American Civil Liberties Union, which is among the groups behind the measure.
Some in law enforcement called the proposal “irresponsible and unworkable.”

Democrat Rep. Debbie Dingell To Introduce Gun Confiscation Legislation

Dingell stressed that seizure of firearms must occur in a way that protects due process, but she did not explain how such protection is possible. In California an order to take guns can be issued without the gun owner even knowing. And in Indiana, the state on which Dingell is basing her federal legislation, individuals who have their guns seized have approximately 14 days to go to court to “make a case” to get them back.

New research finds that probiotics can reduce negative thoughts.
Research from the Leiden Institute for Brain and Cognition in The Netherlands has determined that one’s gut bacteria affect negative thinking, which is defined as a spiraling of thinking that takes a person from one negative thought to the next.
The research studied 40 healthy people for four weeks. The group was split into two groups. One group was given a probiotic supplement each day. The other group was given a placebo for the same period. This was a triple-blind study.
After the four weeks, the patients were tested for negative thinking and cognitive reactivity for moods of sadness. The researchers found a significant reduction in negative thinking among the probiotic group. They also had lower cognitive reactions to sadness compared with the placebo group.
