Biden: I’m Poor Too!

Since it seems to be working so well for her, Vice President Biden jumped onto Hillary Clinton’s I’m-in-the-poorhouse bandwagon today, claiming he’s the “poorest member of Congress” and that he doesn’t own any securities.
From remarks this morning at the White House Working Families Summit in Washington.
He’s vice president of the United States of American. Not withstanding he’s the poorest member of Congress, he still makes a lot of money . . . Don’t hold it against me that I don’t own a single stock or bond,” he said. “Don’t hold it — I have no savings account. But I got a great pension and I get a good salary. For real. For real.
The vice president, as president of the Senate, is technically a member of Congress, I guess.
Actually, as Zeke Miller of Time pointed out, Biden does have a savings account. And Biden is damn sure right about his salary – he and his wife had an adjusted gross income of $407,009 last year.
I wonder if the guys at Biden’s new country club in Wilmington are gonna rib him about this?
What’s wrong with these people? Do Democrats really have to pretend to be poor in order to appease their voters? Did John F. Kennedy ever suggest he wasn’t filthy rich? Did FDR ever claim not to be a member of the patrician class? IS IT SUCH A STAIN ON THE HONOR OF DEMOCRATS TODAY TO HAVE MADE SOME MONEY?
And could they at least start telling the truth once in awhile?

You thought this would be a Friday the 13th post…wrong.
I’ve often wondered why people make such a big deal about Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gets short shrift. I think I’ve figured it out.
Americans are expected to spend $7 billion less on Father’s Day gifts this year than they were for last month’s Mother’s Day. According to a study by the National Retail Federation, consumers are slated to spend a total $12.5 billion on Father’s Day, which falls on June 15 this year, compared to the estimated $19.9 billion they were projected to spend on Mother’s Day, which was celebrated on May 11.
Mom is the one who cooked your meals,made your bed,eased your pain,hugged you when you were afraid and would walk through fire to protect you.
Dad dished out the punishment,yelled at you not to change the TV channel when he’s watching it,complained when you forgot to put gas in the car,told you to mow the lawn and wanted to know when you were going to get a job….when you were 12.
Moms were soft and loving,dads were a little more firm trying to teach you some of life’s lessons. It’s akin to the difference between democrats and republicans. One functions strictly on emotion,the other on reasoned thinking and hard facts. It all depends on your upbringing and how emotionally and morally mature you are. If there was no father in your life chances are you never learned many lessons only a man can teach.
My dad died when I was three and if it hadn’t been for mom having Gramma and Grampa’s farm to move us to I’d be an even bigger mess than I am now. Mom walked me to school and held me when I was afraid. Granny did everything when mom took off for long periods of time with her latest flame.
Grandpa was not a physically compassionate man,I can’t recall him ever hugging me. But he did teach me volumes of life’s lessons about what’s really important,what is trivial,what is worth working for and how to enjoy what you’ve done just for the joy of doing it.

We had a day to feel good about things yesterday. Party’s over,back to being depressed and angry. At some point the media is going to have to report there’s a bloody civil war going on in Iraq. A splinter group of al Quaeda,the Isalmic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIS)
has captured the Iraqui cities of Mosul,Tikrit,Fallujah and Ramadi. When they looted Mosul they took $439 million,which makes them richer than many small countries. They are now about 80 miles from Baghdad. 500,000 refugees tried to swim the Tigris river to escape the slaughter. Nouri Al-Maliki has begged Obama for airstikes on ISIS in the western part of the country. Barry has refused. He can’t bring himself to bomb his soulmates.
It took 1400 dead,32,000 wounded, and one trillion dollars to bring stability to Iraq.
Then Obama came along,wanted the image of getting out of there and ultimately condemned hundreds of thousands to death. Plughead,who carries Preezy’s drool cup,proudly announced the victory in Iraq would be one of the mulatto’s ‘greatest achievements.’
On to Baghdad….

The original plan was to make today an open thread because yours truly was getting pretty tired of all the crap. It is so rare that there is anything for us to truly feel good about I couldn’t pass the opportunity up. The full effect of what happened last night has not been fully manifested yet. I feel a pretty good rant coming on,so grab a refreshment and get comfortable.
For the last six long,agonizing years we have been forced to stand by helplessly while a deranged Kenyan dickweed has run roughshod over the legislative and judicial branches of the government. We keep waiting,in vain,for the republican party to show some political courage and stand up to him. They stand there with their thumbs hooked in their vest pockets and huff that they’ll have to pass a resolution if he keeps breaking the law. Then they turn around and tell the base “we will destroy you!”
They had a suspicion that the base wasn’t happy but they figured we were as ignorant and unprincipled as those on the liberal plantation. We’d still vote for whoever the party put up. Guess again. They don’t understand if it takes years to establish a party loyal to our founding principles then so be it.
Megyn Kelly and Sean Hannity were,as expected,all over this last night. Among other guests,Megyn had Carl Cameron and Brit Hume. I like both of them,but they seem to have spent too long in DC. Cameron posits that Brat won because it was raining yesterday. Fox News Channel’s Washington-based chief political correspondent Carl Cameron blamed the rain for Eric Cantor’s loss to Dave Brat.
“It’s worth noting that the weather was foul here yesterday and today as well. So some of it may have been nature helping out David Brat.”
What he didn’t appreciate was that this was what I call a “broken glass” election. That’s one where you would crawl on your hands and knees over broken glass to get to the voting booth.
Brit Hume insisted that without ‘immigration reform’ to tout that the republicans have no chance of winning the White House in 2016. He is loathe to call it amnesty but that is precisely what it is. The so-called “pathway to citizenship” is as phony as Obama’s birth certificate. These illegals have no desire to become citizens. They want the jobs,the free housing,medical,food stamps and welfare. If Brit ever sojourned near a Latin neighborhood he’d see the sign in every storefront window announcing wire service to Mexico.
The FOX News hosts are fuming over Dave Bratt’s upset tonight over House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Brit Hume led the charge tonight:
“The margin is amazing… The conventional wisdom on this Megyn is already begun to form. It goes this way. That this is bad news long term for the Republicans and great news for Democrats. It is argued by some that immigration reform now will never pass with Republicans who were very much chastened by what happened to Eric Cantor.”
Even Blabbermouth put down her mayonnaise to chime in:
The left had to chirp about Linda Grahamnesty winning his primary last night and bragged about he won because he supports amnesty. Truth is,he ran against 6 candidates. The Tea Party in South Carolina is very territorial and the four could not agree on one candidate to endorse so they split the vote. Grahamnesty also actively solicited democrats to cross over and vote for him. About 20% of his total was from democrat switchovers who will now switch back. Truth is, Linda is just damn lucky. In 2010 the dems ran a convicted drug dealer against him and now he managed to avoid a runoff thanks to democrat shenanigans.
However,there was another primary in the Palmetto State yesterday. Tim Scott… you know,the one the NAALCP accused of being a puppet with the racist white slavemasters pulling his strings? Yeah,that one. He got 90% of the vote in his primary. He garnered more than 60,000 more votes than McCain’s butt boy.

BEEN WAITING TO USE THIS ONE:
The thing that terrifies me now is what will happen between November and January. If the democrats do,indeed,lose their majority in the Senate expect them to try to shove some parting gifts through before they go to work as lobbyists. This is what happened here in Illinois. On the very last day of the lame duck the dems passed a 67% income tax increase. They got no republican votes. The single vote it passed by was bought from an outgoing dem who got a cushy advisory job making mid-six figures to do basically nothing. That’s how they do it here in the land of the undead voter.

Reports of the demise of the Tea Party are greatly exaggerated. The hard work Ting and her friends put in leads to one of the most stunning upsets in recent memory.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has suffered a shocking defeat to a Tea Party challenger in Virginia’s Republican primary. Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House of Representatives, had faced what was considered to be a long-shot challenge Dave Brat, a Tea Party-backed professor. T he Associated Press called the race for Brat shortly after 8 p.m.

Cantor’s loss stunned much of the political world. There was no polling to suggest the majority leader was in trouble, nor did anyone think Brat posed a serious challenge. His internal polling put him up 34 points just a few days ago. Cantor had outspent Brat by a 5-to-1 margin, according to the latest campaign disclosure reports.
In remarks shortly after the race was called, Cantor said serving in the district was “one of the highest honors” of his life.
“We want to create a Virginia and an America that works for everyone, and we need to focus our efforts as conservative representatives on putting forth our conservative solutions so that they can help solve the problems for so many middle class families,” Cantor said.
“I know there are a lot of long faces here tonight, and it’s disappointing, sure. But I believe in this country. I believe there’s opportunity around the next corner for all of us, so I look forward to continuing to fight with all of you for the things that we believe in for the conservative cause.”
Tea Party-aligned members of the House immediately said it served as a “wake-up call” to House leadership.
Cantor, who was once popular with Tea Party types, had come under fire from Brat and other conservatives for his support to reform federal immigration laws, one of the thorniest issues among the Republican base. Brat had branded Cantor as a Beltway insider who was not conservative enough. Cantor was considered a candidate for House Speaker after John Boehner.
Democrats said it was clear Cantor’s loss proved the Tea Party had won its battle with establishment Republicans.
“Tonight’s result in Virginia settles the debate once and for all — the Tea Party has taken control of the Republican Party. Period,” Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz said in a statement.
“When Eric Cantor, who time and again has blocked common sense legislation to grow the middle class, can’t earn the Republican nomination, it’s clear the GOP has redefined ‘far right.’ Democrats on the other hand have nominated a mainstream candidate who will proudly represent this district and I look forward to his victory in November.”
Cantor may have dismissed Brat too easily as he was pushing amnesty as late as yesterday.

The definition of a pathological liar is someone who lies even when telling the truth is easier. Cankles watched Bubba do it time after time after time. She always lies as well,she just lacks his charming veneer. She’s also spent 6 years watching Obama tell even more blatant lies than her old man and smile self-assuredly knowing the media loved him too much to challenge him and those who did were ignored.
What we’re seeing is the remake of the same grafter who rode her rapist husbands’ coattails from Arkansas to the White House. While the media shills promote her book she is recasting herself as a victim. Of course,it won’t fly,since,unlike the Nubian Nightmare who allegedly got a majority of votes twice on no more than the fact he calls himself black,everybody who’s ever paid attention knows all about Mrs. Klintoon.
She was thrown off the legal team investigating Watergate for incompetence,used connections to turn $10,000 into $100,000 in a matter of days buying cattle futures,made a fortune selling worthless plots of land known as Whitewater,the Rose Law firm billing records,Billy Dale and the Travel Office,the list goes on. She claims they were broke when they left the White House when she got an $8 million advance and Willie got one for $15 mil. They left a legal bill for over $3.5 million and some of their big money donors kicked in. All the cash the two of them have raised go into their nefarious Clinton Library and foundation. The figure is easily in the tens of millions with her friends on Wall Street standing ready to kick in whatever she needs.
None of this matters. I’m fully convinced that democrats expect their politicians to lie. As long as it serves their selfish purposes they don’t care. If democrats didn’t lie they’d never win anything. They know she and her co-conspirator have made hundreds of millions through sundry fees and schemes. It’s all window dressing for the benefit of her strongest backers,minorities and single women. She may play coy,not announcing until next year whether or not she’s running but the democrats have no Plan B. She’s the only one well-known enough and loved enough by the media to crush anybody the establishment GOP is likely to run. Just as in Barry’s case,being a poor,defenseless woman she is unassailable. Republicans will be terrified of her.

More than a year in planning. Multi-national forces staging for months in England under strict secrecy. Tens of thousands of soldiers supported by 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft. They finally get the ‘go’ order and are packed into troop transports for the perilous trip across the Channel. Imagine what went through the mind of every man. This may be his last day. He thinks of his family and all the plans he’d made for the future. He looks at the man next to him. Will he make it to the beach? Will he even get out of the landing craft?
They know there are thousands of machine guns and artillery pieces to challenge the invasion. They never hesitate because they’ve been trained for this. They didn’t ask for it,but it came. Millions of people were dying and it had to be stopped. The waves buffet the craft from side to side and it stops short of the beach in three feet of water. The ramp flops down as you hear the chatter of machine guns. Your heart pounds as you grip your rifle. Time to go.
I was in my car at 4:30 AM when I heard the despot who currently occupies the White House read some words that somebody wrote for him. I had to turn it off. I could not bear to hear him speak words that were as empty as his soul.
In the foreground is a man who hardly deserves to be on the same ground the men in the background consecrated. Until the United States was settled nearly every war had been fought for conquest. With the emergence of America as a global power and a beacon for those craving the opportunity to live free we have never taken up arms except to liberate an oppressed people.
4400 lost their lives 70 years ago today. Thousands more suffered the same fate in the following days. All we asked from the countries we freed was enough ground to bury our dead.
The world has never seen the like of these warriors and never will again. It is our responsibility to teach our children about what these men sacrificed so that they will not have died in vain. Never forget.
