America Gears Up for Most Epic Obama Speech Drinking Game; ERs On Alert

DISCLAIMER: This blog does NOT encourage anyone to drink alcohol or consume any intoxicants during Presidential speeches. Also, it should be kept in mind that discharging firearms toward TV sets is always dangerous and should never be attempted, especially if children are present, even if your aim is good.
President Barack Obama Makes Key Speech In Cairo
Emergency rooms across America are bracing for an unprecedented influx of alcohol poisoning cases in the wake of President Obama’s speech tonight beginning at 9pm ET. As always, there will be a half-hour delay in the actual beginning of the speech as the White House staff locates the President and gets him changed out of his golf clothes, so the speech will not commence until 9:30pm ET. This extra half hour delay is a particular concern to hospital staffs because it allows Americans to engage in “pre-game” drinking as they wait in front of their TVs and listen to news anchors fill empty time with chatter about the President’s ‘challenges.’

As with all of President Obama’s speeches, Las Vegas odds-makers and conservative pundits are calculating the probabilities of the usual buzzwords being used.  This time, however, the level of hopelessness of the ISIS situation combined with the narrow focus advertised for this speech make it virtually certain that everyone knows ahead of time what he will propose and exactly which pseudo-military buzzwords and phrases he will spew.  Journalists are warning people to avoid the usual drinking triggers used in the past, such as the ubiquitous “I, me, my” trio.  Those words have been known to number in the low hundreds for a single speech rendering them impractical.  Derek Hunter of the Daily Caller suggests the following warning:

WARNING: As with any drinking game involving a speech from the President and buzzwords, discretion is your friend. If you take a drink at every one of his meaningless platitudes you will be dead by the end of it, or an honorary Kennedy. Either option is bad.

ObamaDG6
He suggests this drinking trigger list:
Let me be clear.
Bring them to justice.
Boots on the ground.
Inclusive government.
Regional powers.
There are some who will say…(Strawman alert)

Finish your drink if he says:
The wrong side of history.
I (or my administration) will not rest.
Community of nations.

Finish the bottle if he says:
We will hunt these monsters down, whatever it takes, and wipe them off the face of the Earth.
ObamaDG2
Blogger David Burge, known as IowaHawk, suggests these trigger words:
Broad.
Comprehensive.
Multifaceted.
Strategy.
Bold.
Robust.

Regardless which words you use, we recommend an extremely limited and cautious approach, perhaps using only a single phrase, such as: “ISIL represents NO religion.”  And if you are a first responder, such as a paramedic or ER doctor, our prayers are with you tonight.

Fly with Confidence, America; Those ISIS Activists on Your Flight are Mostly Harmless

Back4“Do you trust me?” So asked the petite, blonde, senior Delta flight attendant in the short red dress, fresh from delivering trays of cocktails to first class passengers. “Believe me, I’ve been through much worse than this on my plane before. Front page news stuff. Don’t want to talk about it right now, mind you.”

“But you can trust me, this woman is no physical threat. She’s just flown in from Dubai, which is an 18 hour flight, and she’s just a little irritable. She’s an American, but she’s absorbed a lot of the culture over there, if you know what I mean. I’ve got this under control.”

The 98 lb aspiring Navy SEAL was assuring me that I should not be concerned after she was running up and down the aisle asking passengers where the woman with the “thingy” on her head was sitting. I believed her, though she would have been more convincing had she known what a hijab is. And been a hundred pounds heavier. And been a man with a gun.

As it was, I’d already heard quite enough to be concerned about how this flight was shaping up yesterday. I was on my way home to Denver after a long work trip on the east coast. The woman with the zebra hijab was in my row, and even before we took off, she’d wasted no time in provoking the other women in the row into panic by chatting about terrorism.  They responded by burying their faces in their books and by begging her to mind her own business. She then moved on to me, insisting that I witness some imaginary insult someone had done to her, and stating loudly to the whole section that “You see this?? This is TERROR!” I don’t even know what she was talking about. Perhaps she was upset that the flight attendants had not brought her before-take-off wine yet. But several things were clear: she was neither truly upset nor irritable in any way. She was relaxed and playing a part, and it was quite a performance.  She was also clearly an activist.  And that’s what worried me. Continue reading

Why does Obama keep using the acronym ISIL?

On June 13, 2014, President Obama carefully SPELLED OUT the acronym ISIL as “EYE ESS EYE ELL”, but then said, “a terrorist organization that operates in both Iraq and in Syria.”

June 13, 2014 remarks by Obama: See first 30 seconds of video

Why is that weird? Because it is the more common acronym – ISIS – that stands for Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. ISIL stands for Islamic State in Levant.

I don’t think his insistence on ISIL is a mistake. With only a single exception on August 9, Obama has used “ISIL” in every statement he’s made this summer, even while reporters asking him questions referred to the group as “ISIS.”

2014_09 Obama uses ISIL

Is his choice significant? I don’t know. Maybe ISIL is just what his intell wonks use. Or maybe he’s broadcasting a message of support for the destruction of Israel. I lean to the latter explanation, because I have not forgotten these two official White House photos. But I could be totally off base.

Obama dumps a steaming pile of stupid

2014_08 29 Obama dumps a whole pile of steaming stupid

Best comment at Twitchy: “At least the commies and we agreed on one thing. We knew and they knew that we could live in a stand off because if it escalated it was mutually assured destruction. For the Middle East today … death is what they want. Taking the kafir out is what counts and dying in the process is not a deterrent, it is a feature. So no, the world is not safer.”

Neither is the economy …

1984: National Debt: $1.5 Trillion.
2014: National Debt: $17.7 Trillion.

Jon Voigt defends Israel

2014_08 02 Jon Voigt on Israel

The following is a guest column by actor Jon Voigt that was published August 2, 2014, in The Hollywood Reporter
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jon-voight-pens-letter-ignorant-723007

My name is Jon Voight and I am more than angry, I am heartsick that people like Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem could incite anti-Semitism all over the world and are oblivious to the damage they have caused.

They are obviously ignorant of the whole story of Israel’s birth, when in 1948 the Jewish people were offered by the UN a portion of the land originally set aside for them in 1921, and the Arab Palestinians were offered the other half. The Arabs rejected the offer, and the Jews accepted, only to be attacked by five surrounding Arab countries committed to driving them into the sea. But the Israelis won. The Arabs tried it again in 1967, and again in 1973, launching a sneak attack on the holiest Jewish holiday. Each time the Jews prevailed but not without great loss of life. And when Israel was not fighting a major war, it was defending itself against terrorist campaigns.

And yet Israel has always labored for a peaceful relation with its Arab neighbors. It voluntarily returned the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt in return for peace, and gave the Palestinians all of Gaza as a peace gesture. What was the response? The Palestinians elected Hamas, a terrorist organization, and they immediately began firing thousands of rockets into Israel.

After years of trying to make peace, the wars they had to fight, being attacked by their enemies, and still being attacked, and finally after years of running into bomb shelters and having hundreds of civilians killed by suicide bombers, civilians being killed in their sleep, stabbed to pieces, finding enough is enough and finally retaliating, instead of my peers sticking up for the only democratic country in that region, they go and take out poison letters against them.

You have forgotten how this war started. Did Hamas not kidnap and kill three young teenagers for the sake of killing, and celebrated after the killing? What a travesty of justice.

I am asking all my peers who signed that poison letter against Israel to examine their motives. Can you take back the fire of anti-Semitism that is raging all over the world now?

You have been able to become famous and have all your monetary gains because you are in a democratic country: America. Do you think you would have been able to accomplish this in Iran, Syria, Lebanon, et cetera? You had a great responsibility to use your celebrity for good. Instead, you have defamed the only democratic country of goodwill in the Middle East: Israel.

You should hang your heads in shame. You should all come forth with deep regrets for what you did, and ask forgiveness from the suffering people in Israel.

Selective Outrage

The world does not seem to care when Muslims kill Muslims or Christians. But when Jews try to defend themselves, there is outrage.

MEDIA Gaza vs Syria

There’s a similar dynamic with racial violence in the U.S.  Black on black or black on white … crickets.  White on black crime?  Red-faced, spittle-spewing outrage.

Obama makes his own reality

2014_03 Obama promises Ukraine

Elliot Abrams dissects Obama’s responses to Jeffrey Goldberg on Sunday, concluding that Obama has learned nothing in the five years since he said of his own nomination that “this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.”

In short … Obama believes that whatever Obama believes must be so.

Obama’s “policy of passivity in Syria has produced nearly the worst of all possible worlds: 150,000 dead, 6 million homeless, and a menacing gathering of perhaps 25,000 jihadists at the heart of the Middle East.” But in his mind, he’s done the best possible job and anyone who thinks otherwise (including his own Secretaries of State) are just uniformed, wrong or just stupid.

What he had to say about Israel is equally appalling. In short, Israel is uninformed, wrong or just stupid. Obama knows what’s best and Netanyahu better just wise up and get with the Obama program. Or else.

What he had to say about Iran is, if anything, even more horrific. The Iranian leadership has not stopped taking Obama seriously. What a silly idea! As for those Sunnis, well they’re not nervous about Obama. They’re nervous about change. Cuz “change is always scary.” He really said that.

Sarah Palin said, “I find this stunning – scary, sad, and stunning. On the eve of Netanyahu’s visit, President Obama announces to the world that he shall tell Israel’s prime minister what to do; he’ll lay blame for regional unrest on Israel and command they adopt an Obama-sanctioned “peace plan” that requires Israel to concede even more land and authority. Truly stunning.”
