Send in the Clowns

On Tuesday, a reporter asked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid a serious question about immigration reform. Reid didn’t like the question and didn’t want to respond. So he dissed the reporter.

Reid: That’s a clown question, bro. [:07]

Reid’s line harkened to an oft-repeated quip — “That’s a clown question, bro” — by Bryce Harper — the Nationals’ 19-year-old outfielder — in response to a question about what his favorite beer is.

Harper is a Mormon, Mormons don’t drink, so clearly Harper had a point. The reporter who asked him about his favorite beer had not done his homework.

But the question the reporter asked the SENATE MAJORITY LEADER was a serious one.

Sadly, Reid got a laugh at the time. Even more sadly, the Laughing Stock Media is reporting NOT on how he rudely mocked a reporter’s legitimate question, but how cute and clever he was to quote Harper’s line.

Immigration is not a small issue. Especially since last Friday, when President Obama issued an executive order suspending deportation of hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants and making them all eligible for work visas.

IOW, Obama did an end run around Congress, whose Constitutionally-defined JOB it is MAKE laws about things like immigration. He officially instructed INS to NOT enforce the laws that Congress has passed and a President has signed into law. He alone. All by himself. All hail the Clown King, Barack Obama!

I couldn’t find the question part at YouTube, but it is embedded here. You can also see how long it takes Reid to answer.

http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2012/06/19/Harry-Reid-Shuts-Down-Reporter-That-A-Clown-Question%20Bro

I also was not able to find the identity of the reporter. I’m itching to know if he is Black. After a White reporter spoke out of turn in the Rose Garden last Friday, the MSM cast all their stories about racial disrespect, conveniently ignoring the content of Obama’s announcement … which was that he was telling INS to ignore the law.

There is an odd symmetry here, isn’t there? The reporter Reid dissed asked what Reid, as the head honcho of the Senate, was planning to do about Obama’s end run on immigration. If it had been a Republican president, Reid would’ve welcomed the chance to castigate this bare knuckled power grab. Instead, he slaps down the reporter with a disrespectful quip.

Let’s just suppose it had been a Republican President who told INS not to enforce the law and a White Republican Senate Majority Leader who slapped down a Black reporter asking the same question. Would the media be chuckling about a clever quip? Or would they be going into the latest round of “Oh. My. God. Republicans are all RAAAACISTS!”

I’m just saying.

Sustainability

June 2012: Can you define sustainability? [1:43]

Members of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) were asked what “sustainability” means.

In my local community, Republican leadership devoted years to building up a nice savings account to use for major one-time expenses and to cushion us against economic downturns. When Democrats took over the majority, they began spending that savings account at a phenomenal rate. What used to be multiple millions of dollars will, by the end of this fiscal year, be zero. Next year, our community government’s income will be less than the Democrat budget … by a LOT.

As anyone with a piggy bank knows, a savings account is a non-renewable resource. It takes a long time to fill it up and a very short time to empty it out. But did this bother the Lefties who have been sucking that savings dry for the past few years? No. In fact, one of the uses to which they put this non-renewable resource was to hire a Sustainability Czar. Do ya GET the irony? The Sustainability Czar’s SALARY is unsustainable. Sheesh.

Her job is also a tad mysterious. Apparently she is tasked with sticking her nose into the business of local agencies to make sure they are doing “things” in a “sustainable” manner. I’m not sure what that means exactly … apart from the obvious Democrat Throwing Her Weight Around while Getting in the Way of People who are Actually Trying to Accomplish Something for Taxpayers. THAT part is crystal clear.

As far as who really loves the planet …

Selfishness vs Generosity – Left vs Right

Click on graphics to embiggen.

“The left has made it a shtick to feign generosity while directing the government to confiscate unearned money and to redistribute it to hook capable human beings on just-above-subsistence-level incomes.  Those who fall prey to this scheme become the truly selfish citizens who demand that others cater to their every need.  Meanwhile, those who just want to live their own lives, keep the fruit of their own labor, and to be left alone become falsely demonized as ‘selfish’.” ~Kyle Becker

Please read: “Why Liberals Are Selfish” By Kyle Becker – June 20, 2012

http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/06/why_liberals_are_selfish.html

Excerpt:

It is a constant refrain on the left that conservatives are “selfish.” Those who want to work and keep the fruits of their own labor are castigated as self-centered and greedy, while progressives are held out to be all-compassionate and kind for supporting government-run programs for every malady under the sun.

Enough of that rubbish.

Unions going thumbs down on Obama

Obama refused to personally rally on behalf of the public sector unions in Wisconsin, literally flying over the state on the critical days before the Governor Walker’s recall election.

To add insult to injury, when asked why he didn’t go to Wisconsin, the President claimed he was too busy, which was a total lie. He was on a record fundraising spree … NINE events in the four days prior to the election … some of them in States right next door to Wisconsin.

He had plenty of time to keep his promise to “put on comfortable shoes” and show some moral support to the unions who worked so hard and spent so much to help him win the presidency in 2008. He just couldn’t be bothered. And now he’s going to pay.

A recent Gallup poll shows that union members understand Obama threw them under the bus.

2008 union members voted: Obama 67% vs. McCain 30%

2012 union members prefer: Obama 57% vs. Romney 35%

And the AFL-CIO has decided to shift funds away from political candidates, including President Obama. A union spokesman said, “We wanted to start investing our funds in our own infrastructure and advocacy.” In 2008, this same union built up a massive political structure in the months leading up the election, including extensive “Get Out The Vote” efforts, as well as financial contributions to help Obama and his fellow Democrats win their super majority.

In other cheerful news, Rasmussen shows a 16% increase (44% in 2008 vs. 60% now) in the number of Likely Voters who believe the next President will likely be a Republican.

And on May 30, 2012, Moveon dot org sent out a rather desperate-sounding begging letter saying,

“If we can’t increase our budget, we might have to dramatically scale back or pull the plug on some of MoveOn’s most important election efforts this year. … Click here to chip in $5 and help MoveOn take on more campaigns this election season. … In 2008, MoveOn was one of the first groups to endorse President Obama, and we then recruited 1 million volunteers who went door to door, made phone calls, and helped provide the surge of grassroots support necessary to elect Obama.”

After what they did to General Petraeus, seeing them begging for fivers is just too too sweet!

Democrats oppose lowering health care costs

Click on graphics to embiggen.

Last week, the House passed a law that would eliminate this ObamaCare tax.

Chrissy’s Site Bites @ http://news.webshots.com/photo/2409703920056011884kfAdOL

The Yays were bipartisan. The Nays were Democrat only. Given the Dem opposition, even if this passes the Senate, I’m doubtful BHO will sign it. It might survive a House vote to overturn a veto, but not a Senate vote.

Still, I thought it worth while to graphic and get it out there for those Indies who are wondering which side they’re going to support in November. It gives the lie to a bunch of Democrat claims – that they are all about bipartisanship and helping out the little people and that Republicans are obstructionists who only care about the rich.

Really? Then why are the only NAY votes from the Democrats? And why are so many Democrats opposed to reducing health care costs for the people in the middle income brackets who most need and want these ObamaCare things repealed? Do they really believe that a tax on band-aids and tampons is going to HELP the really poor? Or that relieving this burden is about pandering to the rich? Puh-leeze.

And get a load of their contraception and gay rights hypocrisy … this tax includes condoms and diaphragms!

The Misery of Democrat Leadership

Click on graphics to embiggen.

During the twelve years of Republican leadership, the highest unemployment rate was 6.3%, which lasted for only one month in 2003. During the last month that Republicans held majority control, unemployment was 4.4%.

After Democrats took majority control of the federal government in January 2007 and during the last two years of Bush’s tenure, unemployment rose from 4.4% to 7.3%. In January 2009, when Obama moved into the Oval Office, unemployment stood at 7.8% and has been at or above 8.1% for all 40 months since. For 28 of those 40 months, unemployment stood between 9.0% and 10.0%.

Do you need any other reason to vote for Republicans this fall?
