We had them until 18, because that is when the state said we were no longer responsible. And we took that seriously. Too many parents don’t bother to get their offspring ready to be adults by their 18th birthdays, including my own parents and my husband’s. Consequently, we made way too many stupid, unnecessary mistakes.
At 18, our “brains aren’t even done yet” children suddenly become capable of committing felonies for which they could go to jail for life. They can take out loans that they can’t repay or sign up to go get shot at in countries they never heard of before.
And long before that, they can die. Did we do everything possible to get them ready to meet Jesus? Did we pray for their future spouses or to accept whatever vocation the Lord called them to? Did we pray for the faith to let them go, to welcome the loss of control, to endure their failures?
We love it that our kids and their spouses not only enjoy and respect us, but also teach our grands to do the same. We welcome their phone calls, newsy emails, photographs, and visits.
But they’re adults. I didn’t let them dump their chores on me or take my stuff without asking when they were minors. I certainly don’t want that kind of disrespectful behaviors now that they are grown. And I, in turn, do not offer unsolicited advice or spoil their kids beyond what they have approved.
Call my Grammy Grinch if you want, but I won’t trade my adult-friends relationships with my grown offspring for anything.
ARIZONA: If only Mike Pence had had this much courage. Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Wright says she will not certify the gubernatorial election until she gets answers to the questions surrounding voting in Maricopa County.
“These complaints go beyond pure speculation, but include first-hand witness accounts that raise concerns regarding Maricopa’s lawful compliance with Arizona election law. Arizonans deserve a full report and accounting of the myriad problems.”
BORDER: The invasion continues unabated. CLICK https://twitter.com/BillFOXLA/status/1593308030149439488 [1:15] to see the footage. In the past fiscal year, 2.76 million undocumented aliens have crossed, breaking the previous record by over 1 million.
Between October 22 and November 4, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency rounded up 138 sex criminals in multiple states all across the country. All of them are here illegally.
CBS: When Musk reinstated Trump’s Twitter account, CBS tweeted they were suspending posting “out of an abundance of caution.” Twenty-four hours later, they resumed tweeting “to monitor the situation.”
My favorite comment: “I’m leaving Twitter. But first I’m gonna tweet about leaving Twitter. Then I’m gonna stick around to see what everyone thinks about me leaving Twitter.”
FYI: Trump has said he won’t be using his Twitter account and, so far, he hasn’t, something I’m guessing a good share of his 86 million followers can confirm. Meanwhile, Joe Biden has fewer than half that many at 36.4 million.
COVID-19: We can take off our tinfoil hats and replace them with “I Told You So” hats. Not so long ago, even suggesting anyone probably doesn’t need the jab would’ve gotten you banned from social media. Now, it’s in the New York Times.
ILHAN OMAR: House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) says Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) will not serve on the House Foreign Affairs Committee under the Republican majority due to her past “anti-Semitic and anti-American remarks.”
ITALY: CLICK https://twitter.com/JoelWBerry/status/1593983129198514176 to hear a fiery speech by the new Prime Minister about how woke left-wing globalists are the new colonizers, while conservative right-wingers are the ones fighting for the downtrodden. I wish Pope Francis would listen to this.
RACISM: America is so raaacist that the four largest cities all have Black mayors. Sadly, since they’re also Democrats, they’re doing nothing at all to improve the lives of their Black constituents.
S&G: The same Maryland school district that is pushing LGBTQ grooming on preschoolers denigrated donated “Heroes of Liberty” titles, because they promote the “American values that made this country great.” Meanwhile, they highly praised a title that described gynecological exams and the use of sex toys.
When parents asked if they could opt their kids out of the queer grooming, they were told no, because “inclusive curricula support a student’s ability to empathize, connect, and collaborate with a diverse group of peers, and encourage respect for all.”
OPERATION STEEL CURTAIN: In Texas, Gov. Abbott has ordered large steel containers, concertina wire, as well as personnel and equipment along the border in order to block and repel criminal activity and stop violations of state law. In addition, ten M113 armored personnel carriers are being deployed to 10 locations along the Texas-Mexico border.
TUCKER CARLSON: [3:58] – This is just for fun. No politics or news … just Tucker talking about his marriage, kids, faith, etc.
TWITTER: [5:46] – Twelve hundred people walked off the job, because … oh my! … Elon told them they had to actually work. Plus, people they can’t stand – like Donald Trump, Jordan Peterson, Babylon Bee – have their accounts back.
GRAMMY NOTES: God is good, all the time! Years ago, I was running errands. I had just gotten off the highway and was at a stop light when I heard a thunk from under the car. When the light turned green and I pulled forward, I heard something dragging, so I pulled off and walked across the street to the service station, where I found the guy closing early because he had nothing to do. He said, “You just caught me.”
He came with me, looked under the car, and said, “Your tie rod has fallen off. How did you get off the road?” I mimed steering and he said, “Nope. You need the tie rod to steer.” But even he could see the scrape mark that the dragging tie rod had made on the macadam and the tracks my tires had made as they turned on to the dirt shoulder. I love imagining my guardian angel turning the wheels for me! 🙂
He towed the car to the shop and, thankfully, had the part needed to repair it. While he worked, I wandered around the nearby mall, thinking about what could have happened if the tie rod had fallen off while I was doing 55 on the highway! I imagined my guardian angel holding it on until I got to the red light. 🙂
When I got back to the service station, I learned the guy didn’t take checks and I didn’t have enough room on my credit card for the repair. However, I had a large cash deposit that I had been planning to take to our bank. Why was I not surprised when it turned out to be enough to cover the repair? All the time, God is good!
Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, talks with Daniel O’Connor about what the Catholic Church does and does not teach about the End Times and how we can prepare for them. The talks were recorded in pieces and I found two and three to be repetitive. If you want to save time, just watch one and four.
It seems very likely to me that the 3 Days of Darkness will come right after the Illumination of Conscience. I’ve prayed and pondered what it will be like and how I can prepare our home. The most obvious thing is buying four blessed candles and leaving them with matches where I can find them easily in the pitch black.
It also occurs to me that our utilities will likely be interrupted, so I’ve stockpiled enough potable water and canned food to get us through and we’ve made a plan for how to stay warm if it happens in winter. As for toileting, I’m thinking we may have to resort to using one of Dearest’s 5-gallon buckets.
FYI: If anyone has left a comment for me in the past couple of days, I will answer when the feature decides to work again. All I’m getting now is the spinning hell dial.
ANOTHER NAIL: In the coffin of the once great United States – The Senate on Wednesday advanced the “Respect for Marriage Act” in a 62-37 vote, with 12 Republicans joining all Democrats in the vote. CatholicVote’s Catholic Accountability Project team noted the number of Catholic politicians who supported the bill, including three Catholic Republicans and all 15 Democrats who claim to be Catholic. See their names at the link.
ARIZONA: Kari Lake says she spoke with voters who had to wait in line for hours, including a man who went to three different polling sites before he was able to finally cast his ballot.
“Our election officials failed us miserably. What happened to Arizonans on Election Day is unforgivable. Tens of thousands of Maricopa County voters were disenfranchised,” Lake said.
Her opponent, who has claimed victory, is such a crook, she refused to recuse herself as the top election official in the state. Who else but Democrats would think that it’s okay for a player to also umpire the game?
Fortunately, Lake is a junkyard dog. “Now I’m busy here collecting evidence and data. Rest assured I have assembled the best and brightest legal team. And we are exploring every avenue to correct the many wrongs that have been done this past week. I’m doing everything in my power to right these wrongs. My resolve to fight for you is higher than ever.”
HELL BOUND: The RCC’s official website in Germany has published an interview with a priest-psychologist who says pornography and masturbation are good for celibate clergy. He really tipped his hand when he said that pornography is “something that is normal in our society.”
J6: The FBI had at least eight informants working inside the so-called “Proud Boys” group during the months surrounding January 6, 2021. At least two of them were at the Capitol on the day of the riot. But yeah, keep telling us how it was all Trump’s fault …
TRANS: The national murder rate is 6.6 per 100,000. The trans murder rate is 2 per 100,000. In other words, trannies are three times less likely to be murdered.
USCCB: Lefties are unhappy with the recent leadership vote by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
Archbishop Timothy Broglio has been elected to head up the organization. Broglio is outspoken in his belief that “the crisis of sexual abuse by priests in the USA is directly related to homosexuality.” Ninety percent of the victims or priest sexual abuse have been boys, aged 12 and over. And 80% of the predator priests have been homosexuals.
And Bishop Michael Burbidge of the Diocese of Arlington has been elected to chair the USCCB’s pro-life committee. When Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone barred pro-abortion politician Nancy Pelosi from receiving communion, Burbidge publicly supported the ban, saying it would be honored within at the churches in his diocese.
WOMEN’S SPORTS: Another mediocre male athlete has suddenly “realized” he’s a girl and, voila, he has qualified for state. If he had run with the boys, he’d have placed 56. The patriarchy lives.
My personal favorite: “The assumption that every human is so valuable we need to cancel all society to avoid even a single longcovid sequela. But not valuable enough to be reasoned with, or allowed the dignity of making value judgments for themselves.”
*Aisles of allegedly non-essential goods blocked in stores where people were allowed to shop.
*You could go to a liquor store to buy booze or a weed shop to get marijuana, but you could not pray in an empty church.
*You could go to a casino, but not to school.
*Banning all outdoor activities despite the facts that sunlight and exercise are essential for the healthy functioning of the immune system.
*Padlocking the gates to public parks and locking the swings together.
*In Ohio for sports, you could still wrestle each other but then you couldn’t shake hands after.
*You had to wear a mask to go into a restaurant but as soon as you were seated, you could take it off.
2A: [3:36] – Babylon Bee shows us what it would look like for women to have the exact same rights that guns have. I’m thinking that the “tuck under the coat” isn’t adequate. What is needed for concealed carry is a full burka. You know, the ones with the mesh covering over the eye hole. But if her owner has an open carry license, a hijab might be adequate.
EVs: Consumer Reports 2022 Annual Auto Reliability survey found that electric vehicles and full-size pickup trucks have the most after-purchase problems, while hybrids and mid- and large-sized gas-powered sedans have the least.
The top most reliable automakers in the survey are headquartered in Asia. The highest-ranked domestic brands – Lincoln and Buick – ranked 10 and 11.
FTX: The balance sheet of the now-bankrupt, Democrat-Ponzi, cryptocurrency laundromat includes $7.4 million of a cryptocurrency token called TRUMPLOSE. The disgraced CEO spent roughly $10 million to help get FAUXTUS elected, making him Slow Joe’s second-biggest donor in 2020.
END TIMES PROPHECY: The video above – “Are We Ready for a New World Order?” [27:21] – is from the World Government Summit last March. YouTube posted “context” for the discussion by referring to a Wikipedia article that states, “The New World Order (NWO) is a conspiracy theory which hypothesizes a secretly emerging totalitarian world government.” And yet … when the host asked the question, nobody scoffed. And from the bits I listened to (sorry, but not willing to spend 27 minutes of my life on this garbage), the guests all seem to not only be taking the question, but also thinking a NWO would be really super duper.
HALLMARK: The brand you thought you could trust is releasing “The Holiday Sitter.” Never mind the G-rating; the story is solely focused on an LGBT love story. Hallmark’s move to “woke” inspired Candace Cameron Bure to leave Hallmark for Great American Family.
PORNOGRAPHY: [4:57] – Pornography is a public health catastrophe.
PURGATORY: St. Gertrude the Great was a German mystic, theologian, and nun, who said that Jesus told her that this prayer would release “a vast number of souls from Purgatory” each time it is said. It must be remembered that the efficacy of one’s prayers is directly related to the level of sanctity and virtue possessed by the one doing the praying. So, while “a vast number” may have been freed by St. Gertrude’s prayers, our own recitations of this prayer may be less efficacious. However, any help we give the souls in Purgatory is worthwhile.
I remember reporting on the original incident back in 2020. The Bernardel family includes 11 children, six adopted and one with serious disabilities. Mama Jane has home schooled her brood for more than 20 years. And they routinely attend daily Mass. On Halloween 2020, Jane took the kids to church to pray, as is the family’s custom. They sat in an empty pew, far from anyone else.
After they had prayed the rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet, an unmasked priest came out and ordered them all to mask. Jane said no. “None of us were ill, we were all well, we were all very far from anybody in the church, so it … didn’t make sense to me.” The priest called the cops and had Bernardel arrested for trespassing.
Since then, Jane says other people have told her how they were singled out for refusing to mask. One woman said she was ordered from the pulpit to leave. Another family was told their boys couldn’t serve and the family had to sit in a special, roped off pew.
Bishop James Johnston of the Diocese of Kansas City seems to have taken the whole thing very personally. At first, he offered to drop the charges if she pleaded guilty to trespassing, paid a $300 fine, and attend anger management classes. She said no and eventually the judge dismissed the case.
But Bernardel’s bishop seems to have a big old bug up his butt, cuz he hasn’t been able to let the thing drop. In February, he sent her a formal canonical rebuke and penal precept, in which he accused her of multiple “grave disturbances” and forbade her from setting foot on any diocesan property for at least one year, with the exception of cemeteries.
I’m inclined to believe that the real reason behind this persecution is that the prayers of this devout family threatens Satan’s territory. Jane has chosen to litigate against Bishop Johnston; the Life Funder link below is for donations to her legal costs.
ABORTION: “Catholics for Choice” is definitely not Catholic. [5:43] Also, the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) said pro-lifers like members of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) should not bother showing up to their medical conference.
CATHOLIC: This is fun. [3:50] – Clearly, there’s no such thing as a conflict between science and faith.
FAUCI: Rep. James Comer (R-KY) says his team has evidence that Fauci and his NIH buddy, Francis Collins, used their control over federal science grants to coerce private scientists into letting them control the pandemic.
In late January 2020, Fauci was alerted to the fact that his agency had given federal tax dollars to EcoHealth Alliance, which then passed it on to the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, where it was used to do gain-of-function research on novel bat coronaviruses. Gain-of-function research had been banned by the U.S. government.
Rep. Comer says that, during a Feb. 1, 2020, conference call, Fauci and Collins were not only warned that COVID-19 may have been engineered by and leaked from the Wuhan lab, but also discussed how to use their control over federal science grant money to prevent private scientists from revealing their crimes to the public.
PELOSI: Don’t you dare ask questions! [7:17] – Just a reminder from Proverbs 6:16-19. “There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.”
RUBIO: [4:12] – Families are the foundation of our lives, and the very life of our nation. So, what does our government value most? Does family top – or even make – the list? Senator Marco Rubio lays out some critical ways we can reconstruct government policy to build a pro-family culture.
SAN FRANCISCO: Twice in the same day, professional photographers were mugged while shooting at the popular Palace of Fine Arts. A recent poll shows that a third of ‘Frisco residents plan to leave as soon as possible.
TEXAS: On Tuesday, Gov. Abbott (R) announced he has invoked the Invasion Clauses of the U.S. and Texas Constitutions. Texas will take the following steps to address the border crisis.
Deploy the National Guard to safeguard the border, and to repel and turn back immigrants trying to cross the border illegally;
Deploy the Texas Dept. of Public Safety (DPS) to arrest and return immigrants to the border who crossed illegally, and to arrest illegal immigrants for criminal activity;
Build a wall in multiple counties on the border;
Deploy gun boats;
Designate Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations;
Enter into a compact with other states to secure the border;
Enter into agreements with foreign powers to enhance border security;
Provide resources for border counties to increase their efforts to respond to the “border invasion.”
TRUMP: On November 15, The Donald announced he is running for a second term. “Together we will be taking on the most corrupt forces and entrenched interests imaginable.”
NPR, the tax-funded “public” radio station, announced it like this: “BREAKING: Donald Trump, who tried to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election and inspired a deadly riot at the Capitol in a desperate attempt to keep himself in power, has filed to run for president again in 2024.”
GRAMMY NOTES: I’m very proud of the work Dearest is doing as the architect on this Second Winds project. When it’s done, Dryden House will have four apartments and a fenced yard for homeless moms. Located in the middle of the village, residents will be able to walk to most everything they could need … post office, grocery store, pharmacy, schools, doctors’ offices, and public library. And they’ll be right on the public bus line if they need to get to Ithaca or Cortland.
The 27th United Nations Conference of Parties on climate change (COP-27, November 6-18, 2022) has been happening this week in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. The focus this year has been on getting world religions and world religious leaders on board the climate church train. I doubt very much that it’s an accident that the COP-27 logo is derived from the Egyptian symbol for Aten, the sun god, in which the sun’s rays emanate from the sun disk and terminate in human hands.
On Sunday, climate “worshipers” participated in a ceremony on ten “high places” around the world where they confessed humanity’s sins against the environment, smashed tablets shaped like the traditional tablets of Moses and issued ten new commandments. The use of the phrase “ten commandments” got a lot of blowback, so all of it has been scrubbed from their websites in favor of calling the rules “Ten Universal Principals for Climate Justice.” While chanting about the “moral” imperative of “saving the planet”, the measures these cultists demand will result in nothing less than extreme poverty and death for the masses … which just so happens to coincide with both Satan’s and the Global Elites’ agenda.
None of these “zero carbon” people have ever responded to Dr. Patrick Moore’s evidence showing that our use of fossil fuel saved the planet by putting trapped carbon back into circulation where living beings could use it.
Terry Schulze writes, “I was fascinated by Patrick Moore’s comment about CO2 at 150 ppm and how the plants would die. I went and did some research and sure enough he’s right. Here’s a bit from my research –
“Atmospheric CO2 is not alarmingly high, it is too low for optimal plant growth and alarmingly low for the survival of carbon-based terrestrial life. The real danger is not too much CO2 – it is CO2 starvation. Over geologic time, CO2 is permanently sequestered in carbonate rocks.
“Plants evolved at atmospheric CO2 concentrations of 2000 ppm and greater, and many grow best at about 1200 ppm CO2 – about 3 times current levels. That is why greenhouse operators maintain 1000-1200 ppm CO2 in their greenhouses.
“Major food crops (except corn) use the C3 photosynthetic pathway, and die at about 150 ppm from CO2 starvation – that is just 30 ppm below the minimum levels during the last Ice Age, which ended just 10,000 years ago – ‘the blink of an eye’ in geologic time. Earth came that close to a major extinction event.
“During one of the next Ice Ages, unless there is massive human intervention, atmospheric CO2 will decline to below 150 ppm and that will be the next major extinction event – not just for a few species but for all complex terrestrial carbon-based life forms.”
