I googled images to do a page about him. There are a couple where’s he is wearing a ball cap, he looks a LOT like Dubya. Not in general, just in those pictures.

If you close your eyes, Perry sounds like W 😀 No term limits in Texas, he’s been Gov for almost 12 years!

At what point is she on “official business” with her entourage in tow? As for the arguement we pay for their security anyhow, yes, but…..when government employees are required to travel more than 30 miles from their home office, they start collecting per diem. In my son’s job, it’s about $300 day depending on the country’s $$$ hotels.

My reply: Me neither. It looks a lot different when you put it into the overall “society must provide for children” context.
I’ve come to realize one important thing about politics. POLICIES are supposed to be about what’s BEST for MOST.
Democrats are forever telling some individual’s sob story and making that one problem into something the government should’ve prevented or should solve.
But it doesn’t matter what the laws are. Government can’t fix everybody’s problems. It shouldn’t even try, because no matter what, SOMEBODY will always get screwed. And whenever you start looking too hard at individual trees, you start making decisions that are bad for the forest.
I remember sitting in a car full of Catholics and listening in disbelief as one individual went on and on first about how the Church was granting too many annulments and cheapening the marriage sacrament and then, without taking a breath, about how someone she knew personally was in this terrible marriage, but the marriage tribunal wasn’t acting fast enough to get her annulment processed! Somehow, in her mind, BOTH of these things were ALL the fault of the official Roman Catholic Church.
This experience gave me a useful template for understanding why whiney Leftists are full of crap. And people like Ann Coulter taught me why Conservativism is better for everybody.
That tree and forest thing reminds me of another analogy. For a long time, the policy was that forest fires were BAD and should be stopped asap. Over time, they discovered this was harming the forests, that fire is an essential part of the life cycle of a healthy forest. So while forest fires may be bad for individual trees, they have to be allowed or the forest itself will die.
