The blood of martyrs
ISIS militants cut the fingertips off a 12 year old boy and severely beat him in front of his father. When the father refused to renounce Christ, the butchers tortured and beat him and the two other ministry workers. Then the three men and the boy were crucified. Their bodies were left on their crosses for two days.
Eight missionaries in another village were beheaded after they refused to convert to Islam. Two of the missionaries were women, 29 and 33 years old, who were publicly raped and beaten by militants. Throughout their abuse, the women continuously prayed. After they were beheaded, their bodies were hung on crosses.
As it was in the first centuries of persecution, so it is now. The blood of martyrs waters the seeds of conversion. A ministry director in Syria says, “In the past we used to pray to have one person from a Muslim background come to the Lord. Now, there are so many we can barely handle all the work among them.”

Blessed Lucy bore the marks of the stigmata and, after death, her body remained incorrupt. She may have been the inspiration for C.S. Lewis’ character, Lucy Pevensie, who was the first to believe in Narnia and, like Blessed Lucia, was persecuted for her visions.

If anybody knows how to jerk the press around, it has to be Donald Trump. I can imagine he gets a real kick out of them making fools of themselves as they try to trip him up at every turn. He slipped out the other night to have dinner with his family at 21, a high-end steak house. It so happened there was a reporter there who immediately tweeted to all his co-conspirators that he was there. High dudgeon all around. How dare he actually go to dinner with his family without checking with them first? The nerve of the guy! Who does he think he is, the president?

“There was a standing ovation when he came and left,” said Andrew Testo, a 43-year-old who was eating with friends. “He was with his whole family. It was like Sunday dinner with the Trumps, but on a Tuesday. It was awesome.”

Vets group wants Congress to wait for Trump to pass more aggressive VA reform bill
A massive veterans reform bill backed by the Department of Veterans Affairs will face resistance in Congress’ lame-duck session starting Tuesday from a group intent on letting the new Republican-controlled Senate and President-Elect Donald Trump have a say in how expeditiously VA employees can be fired.
With only a couple of months left as VA Secretary, Bob McDonald is making one final appeal to Congress to pass the reform bill that’s the culmination of his two-year tenure. The 400-page Veterans First Act contains dozens of provisions to streamline the appeals process for disability compensation, allow more leeway in disciplining employees and grant VA medical staff the ability to work flexible hours, among other things.

Donald Trump’s upset victory is being attributed to many factors, from Hillary Clinton being a corrupt and flawed candidate to the rise of the angry white male. Never mind that Trump secured more white women support than did Clinton. Maybe it was due to the FBI investigations and Director Comey’s schizophrenic opening and closing the investigations.
What really gave Trump his victory is one person: Barack Obama. This election was nothing less than a complete and total repudiation of his presidency, his policies, his “fundamental transformation of America” that he promised and delivered.

Yesterday, Ira Stoll wrote at the New York Sun, “if anyone is ‘stupid’ in this story, it’s not the voters, but the academics who in their hubris designed an Affordable Care Act that became so unpopular that it became a decisive factor in Hillary Clinton’s defeat. … A friend of mine reported that while volunteering for the Clinton campaign in Pennsylvania, she encountered one voter who had just gotten off the phone with her health insurance company, ‘battling an astronomical increase in premiums. A cancer survivor, she had lost her favorite doctor when she went onto Obamacare two years earlier. Now her rates were going up.‘ That voter wound up supporting Trump.”
