Lena Dunham has built her career around glamorizing crude and promiscuous behavior.  In her recently published autobiography, she falsely claimed she had been date raped by a conservative Republican.  While giving a talk to Planned Parenthood, Lena Dunham said, “I think we’ve all learned it’s hard to change the minds of people who aren’t open and willing to grow and don’t have a certain level of decency.”  After the talk, she snuggled an actual baby wearing a Wendy Davis onesie.   Self-awareness is not Ms. Dunham’s long suit.

Yemen, Crown Jewel of Obama’s Middle East Policy, Descends Into Chaos

In the wake of the total surrender of the Yemeni government to Iran-allied Houthi rebels, the U.S. State Department has had only one profoundly unhelpful message: We don’t know what we’re doing, and neither do you, so refrain from speculating about it. This message was delivered to Washington reporters by seasoned State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki as the resignation of Yemeni President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi (pictured) was unfolding and his home was being shelled. As quoted by the New York Times: “We’re not in a position — and I don’t think any of you are either — to assess what it means at this point in time.”
_80459521_80459520
Despite Jen’s terse instructions not to think about it, I’d wager there are many good conclusions that we can draw from the events in Yemen. One is the simple fact that this is a spectacular failure for the Obama White House and its policies in the Middle East. The other is the nature of the striking betrayal that happened in the final hours of the collapse. According to Sebastian Usher, BBC:

The resignation of the Yemeni president and his government is likely to plunge an already unstable country into uncharted territory.

It comes just a day after a deal was announced between the president and the Houthi rebels that was meant to paper over the sharpest edges of the current crisis.

The rebels received the concessions they demanded. For their part, they were meant to withdraw from the presidential palace and from Mr Hadi’s own house, as well as releasing a presidential aide they abducted last week.

They have done none of this. Mr Hadi and his government say they cannot continue under such conditions. Yemen was already close to chaos – now it seems it has no president and no government.

I’m not referring to the obvious betrayal of the Houthi rebels. Everyone knew they would not keep any agreements after they had gained the upper hand militarily. What I mean by betrayal is that Hadi’s government followed the recipe of appeasement that the U.S. State Department forced on them. Giving the rebels everything they wanted and then expecting them to back off was Obama’s strategy, and the Hadi government followed the script to perfection. Now they have paid for it with their utter destruction. My question is, who will hold the U.S. State Department accountable for this failure? The Yemeni government that they supported is now in no position to do so.

Happy Anniversary (not)

58 Million unborn babies have been legally slaughtered in the 42 years since Roe v. Wade. Please pray for those who are braving the weather to protest abortion in D.C. today, especially my Dearest who has a cold, but went anyway. I’m hoping he doesn’t come home with pneumonia.

2015_01 20 SOTU Dems and abortion

The Democrats’ two-faced hypocrisy was on display this week, as Obama claimed in the SOTU that the lives of all children matter.  Obama has promised to veto a ban on abortion after 20 weeks, because unborn children feel intense pain as they are poisoned and/or dismembered (literally torn limb from limb) to death.

The latest Quinnipiac poll found that the vast majority of Americans are very far to the right of Obama and the Democrats on abortion.

  • 84% believe there should be significant restrictions and safe guards, including limits to within the first three months of pregnancy, allowed only in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother, or never permitted.
  • 84% believe that laws can exist which would protect, both the health and well-being of a woman and the rights of the unborn.
  • 78% support requiring parental notification before a minor can obtain an abortion.
  • 68% oppose taxpayer funding of abortion.
  • 59% believe abortion does a woman more harm than good in the long run.
  • 57% support the conscience rights of health professionals to refuse to participate in or refer patients for abortions.

As noted in the graphic, the Democrat Party Platform on Abortion specifically rejects any and all restrictions, while strongly supporting forcing taxpayers to finance abortions regardless of their religious or conscience objections to the procedure.

About those late term abortions

Whenever we try to talk about how late abortions are excruciatingly painful for the unborn, Democrats pull long faces and beat their breasts about fetal abnormalities and maternal health. But a recent study of why women chose to have late term abortions demonstrated the Democrats’ reasons are mosly political posturing and b.s.

The real reasons that most women choose a late abortion are social – e.g., unemployment, relationship instability, money problems. In addition, the decision to abort did not remedy these problems, but in many cases made them worse.

THE STATE OF THE CRUSHED UNION SHOW

There will be nothing unexpected in tonight’s State of the Crushed Union show,to be sure. Mo money,mo money,mo money from them rich white one-percenters so Barry can give away mo free stuff that’s anything but free. Someone, probably Kevin Koffler@White House Dossier, will come up with how many times he refers to himself. I,me,my; he can’t complete a sentence without one of these nouns or possesive pronouns. Don’t try to play a drinking game to it,you wouldn’t last five minutes. I face no such danger, since I can’t bear to look at him or hear his voice. Might I suggest if you feel compelled to watch, mute the sound and as his purple lips start flapping like laundry on a clothesline, think of the sound the grownup makes in the Charlie Brown cartoons.

Sen. Joni Ernst is giving the republican response tonight, and if you think she’s not already being mocked and denigrated, you underestimate the capacity for hatred liberals harbor.

I’ve bookmarked a dozen articles on the upcoming canine and equine exhibition, which I will condense into the most succinct overview I can manage. The closest to my personal opinion is reflected is this piece by my friend at Diogenes Middle Finger:

Obama to Address Congress in Annual Manure Spread

SOTB1_png

Yes, it time again for Barack Obama’s 6th annual presidential manure spreading festival know to American as “The State of the Union” Speech. This year’s addition to history is sure to be just as mind-numbing as in past years and with even more lofty unworkable ideals and Utopian dreams Barack Obama is known for.

SOTU Bullshit Bingo enthusiasts are sure to be pleased by this year’s event with such great catchwords as “Cuba” “Taxes” and “Free”.

But we’re sure to be entertained as in past years despite the droning speech, watching Joe Biden fidget around and start chuckling for no apparent reason, and John Boehner getting that pained look on his face like he’s passing a kidney stone and wishing he could get up and go outside and light up a Marlboro. Good Times, Good Times.

Obama toon - Changing the law

From my Fox News Email Update:

We are told that President Obama promised his fellow Democrats in the Senate, who huddled this week in Baltimore to contemplate life in the minority, that he is “going to play offense” against the Republican-controlled Congress. This is hardly surprising, given that his response to every political setback in his presidency has been to escalate his conflict with his political rivals. Remember that this is a president who, even when he was riding high at the start of his term, has made it a priority to break and remake the Republican Party, opponents his top communications adviser said were not “worthy” of the moment. At every inflection point, Obama has sought to change his opponents, but shown little interest in changing how he, his administration or his party operates. This effort promises to be as much of a failure as all of the prior tries.

Two Americas

Democrats - Promise and Reality

Two Americas By Bob Lonsberry – Dec 9, 2013
http://www.lonsberry.com/writings.cfm?story=3651&go=4

The Democrats are right, there are two Americas.

The America that works, and the America that doesn’t. The America that contributes, and the America that doesn’t.

It’s not the haves and the have nots, it’s the dos and the don’ts. Some people do their duty as Americans, to obey the law and support themselves and contribute to society, and others don’t.

That’s the divide in America.

It’s not about income inequality, it’s about civic irresponsibility. It’s about a political party that preaches hatred, greed and victimization in order to win elective office. It’s about a political party that loves power more than it loves its country.

That’s not invective, that’s truth.

And it’s about time someone said it.

The politics of envy was on proud display last week as the president said he would pledge the rest of his term to fighting “income inequality.” He notes that some people make more than other people, that some people have higher incomes than others, and he says that’s not just.

It was the rationale of thievery.

The other guy has it, you want it, Obama will take it for you.

Vote Democrat.

It is the electoral philosophy that gave us Detroit. It is the electoral philosophy that is destroying America.

And it conceals a fundamental deviation from American values and common sense. It ends up not being a benefit to the people who support it, but a betrayal. The Democrats have not empowered their followers, they have enslaved them – in a culture of dependence and entitlement, of victimhood and anger instead of ability and hope.

The president’s premise – that you reduce income inequality by debasing the successful – seeks to ignore and cheat the law of choices and consequences. It seeks to deny the successful the consequences of their choices and spare the unsuccessful the consequences of their choices.

Because, by and large, the variability in society is a result of different choices leading to different consequences. Those who choose wisely and responsibly have a far greater likelihood of success, while those who choose foolishly and irresponsibly have a far greater likelihood of failure.

And success and failure can manifest themselves in personal and family income.

You choose to drop out of high school or to skip college and you are apt to have a different outcome than someone who gets a diploma and pushes on with purposeful education. You have your children out of wedlock and life is apt to take one course, you have them in wedlock and life is apt to take another course.

Most often in life our destination is determined by the course we take.

My doctor, for example, makes far more than I do. There is significant income inequality between us. Our lives have had an inequality of outcome. But, our lives also have had an inequality of effort. Whereas my doctor went to college and then gave the flower of his young adulthood to medical school and residency, I got a job in a restaurant. He made a choice, I made a choice. And our choices led us to different outcomes.

His outcome pays a lot better than mine.

Does that mean he cheated and Barack Obama needs to take away his wealth?

No, it means we are both free men.

And in a free society, free choices will lead to different outcomes.

It is not inequality Barack Obama will take away, it is freedom.

The freedom to succeed, and the freedom to fail. And there is no true option for success if there is no true option for failure.

The pursuit of happiness means a whole lot less when you face the punitive hand of government if your pursuit brings you more happiness than the other guy.

Even if the other guy sat on his arse and did nothing.

Even if the other guy made a lifetime’s worth of asinine and shortsighted decisions.

Barack Obama and the Democrats preach equality of outcome as a right, while completely ignoring inequality of effort. The simple Law of the Harvest – as ye sow, so shall ye reap – is sometimes applied as, “The harder you work, the more you get.”

The progressive movement would turn that upside down.

Those who achieve are to be punished as enemies of society and those who fail are to be rewarded as wards of society. Entitlement has replaced effort as the key to upward mobility in American society.

Or at least it has if Barack Obama gets his way.

He seeks a lowest common denominator society in which the government besieges the successful and productive and fosters equality through mediocrity.

He and his party speak of two Americas.

And their grip on power is based on using the votes of one to sap the productivity of the other.

America is not divided by the differences in our outcomes, it is divided by the differences in our efforts. And by the false philosophy that says one man’s success comes about unavoidably as the result of another man’s victimization.

What the president offered was not a solution, but a separatism. He fomented division and strife, he pitted one set of Americans against another.

For his own political benefit.

That’s what progressives offer. Marxist class warfare wrapped up with a bow.

Two Americas, coming closer each day to proving the truth to Lincoln’s maxim that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

Il n’est pas Charlie. – UPDATED

2015_01 13 Getting Obama to Paris by Terrell

My first reaction to this ‘toon was that it sums up everything wrong with our president in one brilliant image by http://terrellaftermath.com/.

But then I visited PoliNation and read this comment by Grunt of Monte Cristo on yesterday’s post:

“Everybody continues to talk about this as if it were merely ‘ham-handed’ or ‘incompetent’ or that it was just a mistake. But I’d argue that no administration could ever make this mistake. Ever. And no one else did. All the heads of state of the West were there. They didn’t even go for VPs or cabinet members.

“No, this was Barack’s loud & clear message to al Qaeda & ISIS that he’s still on their side. I see no other alternative. Especially in light of his endless pro-muslim, pro-terrorist behavior in everything he does and says. The Caliph is in the White House.”

It gave me pause, because Terrell really did nail Barack’s “leadership” in his ‘toon, yet Grunt is also right.  I’m thinking maybe it’s All of the Above.

And, considering all the damage they’ve managed to accomplish despite their incompetence, I’m also thinking we should be deeply grateful the Obama White House is run by a lazy, ham-handed collection of half-wits.

UPDATE:  Just saw this and had to add it here.

2015_01 13 WH didn't think Paris would be that big
