Turn Your Attention to Ring #2, Please

Yesterday may be most aptly described as a three ring circus.

Ring #1 had the Democrat hissy fit failing to stop the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as Education Secretary.  Undeterred, they continued to stomp their feet and act less like the most deliberative body in the nation and more like kindergartners desperately in need of a nap. Today they aim their anger at AG nominee Jeff Sessions. Dizzy Lizzy Warren made such an ass of herself she’s not allowed to speak at all today.

Ring #2 had three liberal hacks in black robes assuming to dictate immigration policy and decide if the president should be tasked with what kind of freeloaders are allowed into the country or will they? The questions ran far afield as they grilled government representatives when they shouldn’t even be hearing the case.

Ring #3 was what CNN termed as a debate on Obamacare between Senator Ted Cruz and Bernie “the brain” Sanders. It wasn’t much of a contest as Cruz had his facts in order and poor Bernie had 3 weak talking points. It was 90 minutes of an old socialist taking a beat-down.

Warren reads Coretta Scott King letter opposing Sessions from outside Senate

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on the Senate floor Tuesday that Warren had violated the upper chamber’s rules as she delivered a harsh speech opposing the nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) for attorney general.

“Tonight I wanted to read that letter, and Sen. Mitch McConnell and Republicans came to the floor to shut me down for reading that letter,” Warren said in a Facebook Live video late Tuesday night. “So right now what I’d like to do outside the Senate, I just want to read the letter.”

Senator Elizabeth Warren Is Told To Take HER SEAT For Inappropriate Language

Elizabeth Warren formally silenced during Senate debate on Jeff Sessions nomination

“I will not be silent while the Republicans rubber stamp an AG who will never stand up to the @POTUS when he breaks the law.”

Speaking on the Senate floor, Warren quoted from 30-year-old correspondence from Coretta Scott King relating to Sessions’ failed judicial nomination in the 1980s. It was part of a barnstorming speech by the Massachusetts Senator against Sessions’ suitability for the post and attacking his record on civil rights.

Mitch McConnell, the Republican majority leader, objected that Warren had broken Senate rules that prohibit one member impugning the conduct of another. Senators then voted 49-43 to uphold a ruling in McConnell’s favour.

Ted Cruz CRUSHES Socialist Bernie Sanders in CNN Obamacare Debate
It was a debate for the ages. Texas Senator Ted Cruz, a constitutional conservative versus Soviet-style socialist Bernie Sanders on CNN Wednesday night over the future of the failed Obamacare debacle.

It was such a bloodbath for Soviet Sanders — so much so that leftist CNN decided not to have a discussion panel after the much-ballyhooed debate event and Twitter decided to downplay by refusing to trend any of the relevant hashtags that normally would go viral.

Sanders refused to address broken Democrat promises, promises that Americans are painfully experiencing today.

As expected, CNN filled the audience with sob stories from people touting Obamacare as the second coming.

Ted Cruz treated them with compassion, grace, and logic in responding to their concerns about the repeal of Obamacare and the replacements being discussed that would not negatively affect their current coverage.

When some in the audience gave specific personal testimonies how their lives were damaged by Obamacare, heartless socialist Sanders treated them like the number they would be under socialized medicine, often turning to his Marxist talking points to bail him out when he had no logical answer to the failed Democrat Party disaster.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) wants to impeach Donald Trump as soon as possible.

  • So sorry, Maxine. You can’t impeach a president just because you don’t like him.

“I think that he is leading himself into that kind of position where folks will begin to ask, ‘What are we going to do?'” Waters said. “And the answer is going to be: eventually we’ve got to do something about him.”

  • Like re-elect him to four more years maybe?

“He [President Trump] supplied the bombs that killed innocent children and families in Aleppo.”

  • Aleppo was bombed by Russia last fall, long before Trump was inaugurated.  If any American president “supplied” those bombs, it was Obama.

“And the fact that he [President Trump] is wrapping his arms around Putin while Putin is continuing to advance into Korea.”

  • I’ve seen no evidence that Trump and Putin are getting cozy.  Plus, you know, Putin didn’t invade “Korea.” It was Crimea.

There are those who say that the Democrat Party’s leadership is “out of touch.”  Noooooooo, really?

Feb 6, 2017:  House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) said, “While it’s only been a couple of weeks since the inauguration, we’ve seen nothing that we can work, that I can work with President Bush on.”

The Self-Beclowning Continues

It is an unfortunate state of affairs that the alt-left is so consumed with obstructing progress that they fail to see that, for all but those who suffer similar dementia, they look like a bunch of braying jackasses raising a racket and crapping on the floor of the building where they have to ‘work’, or some similar facsimile.

They are, at the time of this posting, in the middle of a 24 hour conniption fit, trying to convince one more RINO to join them in doing the teachers union’s bidding. They already have Murkowski from Alaska and the Maine Pain Susan Collins. That makes the vote 50-50, with Vice President Pence tasked with casting the tie-breaking vote on a cabinet nominee for the first time in history. The end game is to delay seating the president’s cabinet as long as possible, just for pure meanness.

[CtH: I just heard from Dearest that DeVos has been confirmed.]

Trump’s travel ban to be argued Tuesday in S.F. federal court

Robart said the states had shown that the travel ban was causing financial hardship to their residents and to institutions such as state universities, and were likely to prove that Trump’s order discriminated against Muslims.

While Trump responded with tweets about the “so-called judge” and his “ridiculous” ruling, Justice Department lawyers argued that Robart had harmed the nation with “judicial second-guessing of the president’s national security determination.”

Democrats are speaking for 24 hours in last push against Betsy DeVos

Activists have targeted those Republicans who they believe have reservations about DeVos, particularly those from rural states, where alternatives to public schools — such as those promoted by DeVos — are few and far between. But other than Murkowski and Collins, no Republican has indicated that their support is shaky.

What’s really behind Democrats’ all-night anti-DeVos show

Again, the only real issue here is her ardent support for school choice, including public charter schools and voucher programs to help families choose qualified private or parochial schools for their kids. The unions (rightly) see choice as a potentially fatal threat to their vast power.

The all-nighter is also a bit of virtue-signaling to the Dems’ angry base that they’re really, really trying to Stop Trump At All Costs. (Maybe this will end the noisy rallies outside Chuck Schumer’s house?)

Virtually all Senate Democrats poised to vote against remaining Cabinet picks

The Senate is scheduled to continue confirming Trump’s Cabinet nominees this week, with a vote scheduled for Tuesday to approve Betsy DeVos, nominated to run the Education Department. Senators are poised to confirm Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) to serve as the next attorney general by the end of the week.

But those votes are expected to happen with little or no Democratic support.  Only Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) has announced plans to support Sessions. As of Monday, no Democrat has announced support for DeVos, Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), nominated to lead Health and Human Services, or Steven T. Mnuchin, nominated as treasury secretary. They all are scheduled for up-or-down votes in the coming days.

[CtH: Soooooooo … when the economy improves and schools improve, Republicans will own it, right?  Hee hee!]

They voted FOR Gorsuch in 2006

Democrats are preparing for all out war against President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is leading the way.

But when Gorsuch was nominated to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals by President George W. Bush in 2006, he was confirmed unanimously (95-0) in the Senate.

Democrats are officially cuckoo pants

Vincent Tolliver said he thought his rival Rep. Keith Ellison should not be chairman of the DNC, because his Islamic faith condemns homosexuality.

Interim chair Donna Brazile said Tolliver’s opinion was “disgusting” and chucked him out of the race.

Tolliver stated a fact: “Muslims discriminate against gays. Islamic law is clear on the subject, and being gay is a direct violation of it. In some Muslim countries, being gay is a crime punishable by death.”

Brazile parroted the Left’s cuckoo pants opinion:  “The Democratic Party welcomes all Americans from all backgrounds. What we do not welcome is people discriminating against others based on who they are or how they worship.”

So What Are We Protesting Today?

Apparently I’m not the only one who noticed the #STOP (pick a name) signs Tuesday night:
Senator Finds Hilarious Proof Liberals Were Ready To Protest Any Trump SCOTUS Nominee
Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse found evidence that liberal protesters at the Supreme Court Tuesday were ready to protest any nominee put forward by President Donald Trump.
Trump nominated Judge Neil Gorsuch to be a Supreme Court associate justice.
Sasse found signs that read “Stop,” with Gorsuch’s name written in marker.

This Is Already Tiresome

Tucker Carlson was interviewing some blow-dried Ken-doll wannabe congresspunk from California last night and this clown would not stray from his talking points no matter what Carlson asked him. Thankfully, the network panned to a shot of the daily protests outside the Supreme Court.

I may be the only person in America who noticed some idiot holding a pre-printed sign that had the word “OPPOSE” at the top with a blank white space underneath it. After Trump made his nomination known, they printed “GORSUCH” in the blank space with a Sharpie. They were prepared to protest whoever the president picked, even if it was the Wizard of Oz.

As with their shameless behavior regarding the Cabinet nominees, they are going to fight this appointment tooth and nail. In the end they will likely lose, although it is a case of one originalist replacing another. The all-out war will occur if one of the leftists, probably the Notorious RBG retires from the bench. She has already stated she’s not going anywhere until there is a Democrat president to replace her.

Think: The Dems wheeling the late and unlamented Robert C. Byrd on a hospital gurney for an important vote, or Tim Johnson who suffered a brain aneurism and was absent for almost two years and never replaced, since he represented North Dakota, which would have elected a Republican in his stead.

They’re playing a dangerous and potentially disastrous game. Tingles Matthews claimed that not a single Democrat senator will vote to confirm. I disagree. There are 12 senators from red states up for re-election in 2018. The playbook says there will be 5 or 6 democrats who will be given permission to confirm as long as there are not the requisite 60 votes to uphold the filibuster. They all sing from the same hymnal: ‘Lord, save my ass.’

[CtH: I am still puzzling over why RBG didn’t retire when Obama was in office.  She’s older than dirt and is unlikely to survive the 8 years Trump could be in office.  Probably she, like the rest of the Ds, thought Hillary was a shoe-in.  Oops!  Cuz replacing Scalia with Gorsuch is no biggie.  Replacing Ginsburg with someone the Republicans like will tip the bench back toward traditional values and put Roe v. Wade seriously at risk.  We can pray!]

Chris Matthews: Gorsuch Vote Will Go To A Filibuster; Democrats Will Not Vote For Him, “Not A One”

“I think this is going to come down to a sad denouement,” Matthews said Tuesday night. “I think it’s going to take 60 votes to get this approved and I think the Republicans will have their rank-and-file 52 votes will be there. But I don’t think the Democrats are going to give them a single vote which mean this will go to a filibuster.”

[CtH: Why is Tingles still talking?]

Chris Matthews on Democrats who vote for Gorsuch:  He will “be on that court for 30 years … they will have to answer for this guy.”

And since, according to Matthews, no Dems will vote to confirm, the nomination will fall short of the required 60 votes.

This Insurrectionist disagrees. No matter how much McConnell reveres Senate tradition, he will not let such a qualified jurist, and Trump’s first Court nominee, go down to ignominious defeat. If push comes to shove, I predict that McConnell will invoke the nuclear option, and Gorsuch will be confirmed on a simple-majority vote.

IOW, THE DEMOCRATS MUST CHOOSE WHAT HILL THEY WANT TO DIE ON

Here’s Why It Would Be Very Stupid for Dems to Block Neil Gorsuch
Since January 20, many Americans have been daydreaming about the possibility of rebuilding the government from the ground up, like an episode of Designated Survivor. But as fun as it would be to watch Democrats tantrum their way into blocking Judge Neil Gorsuch‘s Supreme Court nomination, it’s a bad idea and would follow in the Republicans’ dangerous precedent.

Dems to Filibuster SCOTUS Pick, Claim Seat ‘Stolen’: “We will use every lever in our power to stop this.”
Senator Merkley declared the seat could go to none of Trump’s picks because it was “stolen,” presumably by the Russians.

“This is a stolen seat. This is the first time a Senate majority has stolen a seat,” Merkley said in an interview. “We will use every lever in our power to stop this.”

Protesters Arrested In NYC Demonstration Against Trump Supreme Court Pick

Among those arrested was Gwen Carr, the mother of Eric Garner – the man who died on July 2014 on Staten Island as police tried to arrest him for selling loose, untaxed cigarettes. A grand jury later declined to indict NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo, who used a takedown move on Garner that many have described as a chokehold.

THIS WAS FROM YESTERDAY:
Once Again, Dems Deny Vote on Sessions… Where is GOP Leadership?
The Senate Judiciary Committee, once again, delayed voting Tuesday morning on the nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions for attorney general, pushing it back to Wednesday.

Therefore, the people of the United States remain without the proper attorney general, causing confusion and misdirection in the branch of government that ultimately provides safety and security to the American way of life.

GOP changes Senate rules, approves Trump cabinet picks
A Democratic boycott couldn’t prevent President Trump’s cabinet picks for Treasury and health from gaining approval by the Senate Finance Committee.

The Republican-led committee changed its rules to allow it to operate without the boycotting Democrats and approve Steve Mnuchin for the Treasury post and Tom Price as Health and Human Services secretary.

The next step will be for the pair to be confirmed by the entire Senate.

Democrat Senators Then and Now

Democrat senators boycotting Trump’s nominee hearings were singing a very different tune when it was Obama’s nominees who needed confirming.

  • Sen. Diane Feinstein: “We have always had the tradition of moving these nominees as quickly as we possibly could.”
  • Sen. Patrick Leahy: “My idea would be to go boom, boom, boom, boom, boom with them, so the American people get a package as a whole. And I’d like to do all that, of course, before the inauguration.”
  • Sen. Tim Kaine: “I think we owe deference to a president for choices to executive positions, and I think that is a very important thing to grapple with. The American public choose someone to be president, they’re giving that individual the mandate to govern, and that mandate includes the assembly of a team that the president feels is the appropriate team.”
  • Sen. Sherrod Brown: “The confirmation of all these important people–the attorney general, the treasury secretary, the secretary of state, and so many other important Cabinet officials–all that is so important.”

Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden participated in the boycott, despite having loudly condemned obstructionist tactics when Obama was president.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said, “It is time to get over the fact that they lost the election. The president is entitled to have his Cabinet appointments considered. None of this is going to lead to a different outcome.”

A Video Primer

There is much to put together on the news of the day: Trump nominating Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme court. I have not yet completed the task of putting things in order. However, in an effort to entertain early risers I’m posting some YouTube videos pertinent to current events.

Morning Joe Panel Blasts Democrats for Not Coming to Terms With Being in the Minority

[CtH: I must say again to the older gentleman who declared that nobody under 35 shares Trump’s values … WHEN WILL DEMOCRATS LISTEN?!  I have six kids under 35.  They like Trump.]

Law Professor: Trump’s Immigration Ban Constitutional, Admin ‘Absolutely’ Had Right to Fire AG

[CtH: Turley – “It’s very inconsistent.”  Professor, you make the mistake of thinking Obamacrats care about law, policy, or values.  They don’t.  They care about personalities, feelings, and destroying America.  In that sense, the woman’s actions were totally consistent with what the Justice Dept did during Obama’s tenure.  Dearest thinks she’s been promised a pay off for pulling this stunt.  I’m inclined to agree.  Look for her to run for office with big Democrat money support.  https://polination.wordpress.com/2017/01/31/its-not-about-law-policy-or-values/%5D

Sen. Wyden Was Against Partisan Obstructionism Before He Supported It

Democrats Boycott Confirmation Votes on Tom Price and Steven Mnuchin

Sen. Hatch: ‘This is the most pathetic thing I’ve seen in my whole time in the United States Senate’

I REMEMBER WHEN THE DEMOCRATS IN WISCONSIN PULLED THE SAME STUNT SO AS TO AVOID HAVING A VOTE ON NEUTERING THE TEACHERS’ UNION IN WISCONSIN. A BUNCH OF THEM STAYED IN A MOTOR INN DOWN HERE IN TOWN. EVENTUALLY THEY HAD TO RETURN AND THE REPUBLICAN-LED LEGISLATURE TOOK AWAY MANDATORY DUES DEDUCTIONS. GIVEN A CHOICE, MOST OPTED TO KEEP THE MONEY IN THEIR OWN POCKETS RATHER THAN GIVE IT TO THE BOSSES TO BE PASSED ON TO THE DEMOCRAT PARTY.

Dem Senator Compares Trump’s Immigration Order to Japanese Internment Camps

[CtH: Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) lies AGAIN about how the executive order targets Muslims.  It DOESN’T.  And for crying out loud, if banning immigration from SOME COUNTRIES is comparable to rounding up Japanese-American citizens into internment camps, then where the heck was the outrage when Presidents Carter and Obama DID THE SAME THING?  They’ve lost their minds.  Or maybe they never had any.]

Hatch Praises Judge Gorsuch’s Nomination to Supreme Court

Pelosi: It’s a very hostile appointment… Lovely family, I’m sure. But as far as your family is concerned, uh, uh, if you breathe air, drink water, eat food, take medicine or in any other way interact with the courts this is a very bad decision.

[Pelosi says Gorsuch is “well outside the mainstream of American legal thought.”  By this, she means he doesn’t legislate for Progressive social change from the bench.]

Tips for Democrats

John Nolte offers Democrats 9 hints for learning how to talk to “real people.”

Obviously, I don’t expect Democrats to do any of this stuff, because they seem to be incapable of learning.  But that is fine with me, since it likely means four more years for Trump!

Meanwhile … this is really good.  Wise and funny, my favorite combination.

According to the leftwing Politico, Democrats are attending classes to learn tips on “how to talk to real people.” Politico only fabricates damaging stories to hurt Republicans, so this must be true. As someone who was a Democrat until his mid-twenties, as someone who grew up in a working class household, as someone who was once a member of the working class, let me see if I can’t help.

Democrats want to better relate to the “real people” who helped elect President Trump, here is the best advice I can offer…

1. Step Away From the Pussy-Hats

This isn’t even a joke. What were you morons thinking running around all weekend on national television with your heads sticking out of cardboard vaginas? Listen, I’m the most live-and-let-live guy you’re ever gunna meet. As long as it doesn’t violate my rights or happen on my porch, how consenting adults live their lives is the least of my concerns.

If Democrats want to represent weirdos, fine.

But for the Party of Harry Truman to allow itself to be defined by humorless harpies wrapped in papier-mâché  lady parts… Donald Trump thanks you, and I don’t want to talk to you, because you’re creeping me out.

2. Stop Hating  Us

Parents who would rather not have a man in a skirt pee next to their young daughter are not Nazis.

You always talk to us as though we need correcting. It is not only insulting, it is authoritarian and sinister.

Until you stop hating us, our shields are going to be up. That is no way to have an honest conversation.

3. Stop Correcting Our Speech

Correcting someone’s speech is bossy, except I’m not allowed to tell you that because “bossy” has been disallowed by your Speech Police.

How can we have an honest conversation if I constantly have to be on guard over words? Someone who is on guard all the time, someone who is worried you might have a seizure if they call an illegal immigrant an illegal immigrant, isn’t going to open up to you.

And they sure as hell aren’t going to listen to you.

4. No One Wants to Talk to Elizabeth Warren

Senator Elizabeth Warren is a walking pussyhat.

In fact, I think her Indian name is “Shrieks with a Pussyhat.”

“Real people” simply cannot relate to a joyless, elite, wealthy, urbane, elderly white woman who reminds them of their first wife. Replacing Hillary Clinton with Elizabeth Warren is like replacing New Coke with Zima.

Democrats have the hectoring old biddy vote in the bag. The face of your Party should be a Senator Joe Manchin. He represents the kind of people you want to attract.

 5. You Are Not Superior

My least favorite people in the world are those who “escape” small town America and then look back on it with contempt, from their Manhattan Ivory Tower.

After years of working with my hands, in the outdoor heat and bitter cold, breaking my back… I figured out that this was not how I wanted to live my life. So I got out.

Here’s the thing… What separates me from the modern-day Democrat is that I have nothing but admiration for the working class. I don’t look back at those years or the people I worked with through a lens of contempt.

Write this cold truth down…

If artists and writers and journalists and pundits and actors and activists and teachers and comedians and late night television hosts, all disappear tomorrow, we would miss them but the world would keep right on turning.

Try to live one week without auto mechanics, plumbers, janitors, truck drivers, farmers, fishermen, garbage men, bus drivers, the guy who plows the snow, the men who melt steel and stock the shelves and tow your car.

These are the men and women who get up every morning to break their backs to keep our civilization intact.  Compared to them, nothing you or I do matters. It is not even close.

You might not like the fact that they smoke Winstons, eat cheeseburgers, tell inappropriate jokes, own firearms, and prefer NASCAR over “Scandal,” but damn your soft hands to hell for not respecting and admiring them.

6. Listen

The modern-day Democrat Party is now the Party of shouting others down.

You’re too busy screaming RacistSexistHomophobeXenophobeRedneckDepolorable! to listen.

You are too busy signaling your own virtue to hear what I have to say.

7. Join Us

Here in my small North Carolina town, many of my neighbors have visited the big cities, and through the Internet, television and movies, we have all spent real time in your world. FACT: We know a whole lot more about your culture than you do ours.

We have been to your museums. When have you been to our NASCAR race?

We have visited and toured, and, even for a time, lived in your cities. Outside of a campaign stop, when have you spent real time in our town?

We have watched and enjoyed your foo-foo movies and television shows. When have you given our faith a real chance?

We have read your websites and watched your news channels. When have you engaged in a single activity that helps you relate to us?  We know all about you. Now learn about us. Come. Join us. Not as a superior social scientist studying a specimen, but as a fellow human being.

Take a two-month leave. Rent a room in a small town. Get a temporary job at the Walmart. Eat at Bojangles. Try the Big Gulp. Buy a raffle ticket at the Church picnic. Put down the iPhone and sit on a porch.

Hate to pop your bubble, but YOU are the parochial, narrow-minded ones, not us.

8. Say What You Mean

“My househelper, a visually-impaired, Native American little person of color, who is a bit cerebrally-challenged but still an exceptional LGBTQQIP2SAA of differing sobriety, is now engaged in domestic incarceration.”

Just say that your retarded, blind-drunk, gay, Indian-midget of a maid got married.

9. Stop Taking Classes On How to Talk to ‘Real People’

In order to talk to real people, you have to be a real person.

Maybe start there.
