Convicted felon announces campaign for governor in Democratic state – sounds about right
Joe Ganim, 58, filed the necessary paperwork to run for governor at the State Elections Enforcement Commission office in Hartford, Conn., joining a number of other Democratic candidates who have expressed interest in running for current Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy’s spot, who said in April that he would not seek re-election.
Ganim was convicted of 16 federal corruption charges in 2003 while serving as mayor and was sentenced to nine years in prison. After serving almost seven years, Ganim was released.

Holy Crap! It’s Almost Thanksgiving!
It just came too quick this year. It’s one of those rare times when there are 5 Thursdays in November, giving retailers that precious extra week to push their stuff. I hear this year’s hot toy is Fingerlings, some sort of interactive monkey that fits on your finger. I saw a sign at WalMart the other day that said a limit of 2 fingerlings a day. I also heard about something called Hatchimals, which are like an egg and some sort of critter is supposed to hatch out of it. All sounds too creepy to me. Thank goodness my youngest grandchild is 10 and just about over most toys. My wife finally got a smart phone earlier this year and the 10 year old showed her how to operate it and downloaded some apps, whatever they are, for her. I hate being an electronic retard in the digital age. Fortunately I can extort labor from my kids when needed by reminding them who taught them how to use a fork and use a potty.

The details of the alleged incident are sketchy, but the parents of the 12-year-old girl involved said it happened on Monday and reported the matter to local authorities, according to a report from the local newspaper, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise.

This is hardly the first time Snopes has struggled with the facts while “fact-checking.”
Last December, Snopes published a fact-check defending John Kerry’s State Department that was riddled with factual errors and omissions.

Pelosi: Loretta Lynch Meeting With Bill Clinton Was ‘Serendipitous’
Reporters asked Pelosi how the controversy surrounding the Sessions revelation compared to Lynch’s private meeting with Bill Clinton on a plane as the FBI probed his wife’s private server to see if she mishandled classified material.
Pelosi said the two situations are completely different, Townhall reported.
Lynch “did not have a major role” in Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign,” Pelosi said. “This is a completely different thing.”
The House’s top Democrat went on to say the meeting between Lynch and Bill Clinton happened by chance and was a pleasant encounter, calling it “serendipitous.”
Democratic Congressman makes sexual ‘joke’ about Kellyanne Conway
Rep. Cedric Richmond spoke yesterday at the Washington Press Club Foundation dinner. His attempt at a comedy routine wound up being an example of what not to do. Few of his remarks were funny but he really face-planted when he brought up Kellyanne Conway “and the picture on the sofa.”
“I really just want to know what was going on there,” Richmond said to Sen. Tim Scott. He continued, “You know I won’t tell anybody and you can just explain to me that circumstance because she really looked kind of familiar in that position.”

Attacks on Jeff Sessions hit rock bottom with spy recruitment innuendo
Sessions met Russian Ambassador with two senior staffers present, just like all Russian spies?
In this fact-free environment, imaginations and malicious intentions can run wild. We have round-the-clock media and social media speculation and frenzy throwing around terms like impeachment, treason, and so on.
It is, in some ways, worse than harmful facts, because there is no clear accusation against which to defend, and no factual basis upon which the public can judge.
One implication of this frenzy is that the Russian Ambassador was a spy recruiter and that’s why he met with Sessions.
Here’s what CNN reported:
Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador, is considered by US intelligence to be one of Russia’s top spies and spy-recruiters in Washington, according to current and former senior US government officials.
Russian officials dispute this characterization.

Two events of note today:
First, and most important (to ME anyway), today marks 22 years I’ve officially been a pain in my wife’s backside. She gets looks of sympathy from everybody from my family to the checkout people at Walmart. I sit on a scooter at the end of the checkout as she’s paying for her purchases and crack wise. The looks of pity she gets from total strangers are priceless.
Second, today is the day the DNC chooses the next socialist to send the party farther into the wilderness. The choices are Tom Perez, a friend of the Clintons, Joe Biden, and Eric Holder, OR Keith Ellison, the anti-Semitic, hard-left, community-organizing Muslim who is backed by Bernie Sanders, Upchuck Schumer, and the rest of the usual suspects. It matters not a whit who they choose because their message of violence, intolerance, and total government control will never change.
Michael Moore endorses Ellison for DNC chair: Party needs ‘fresh blood’
Moore went on to lay out why he believes Ellison is the best suited to lead the DNC.
“He’s from the Midwest,” Moore said. “Before he was a congressman in Minnesota, he helped turn Minnesota from what was then a red state into a blue state. He did political neighborhood organizing in the state of Minnesota. We need an organizer who is going to bring people out and turn this party around.”
The Case for Tom Perez Makes No Sense
His supporters say he’s just as progressive as Keith Ellison. So why bother fielding him at all? Ellison has captured the support of the left wing. Ellison backed Sanders early in his primary race against Hillary Clinton, and was one of the first candidates to announce his bid for DNC chair. The Hill reports, “Perez supporters have expressed concern about handing the party over to the Sanders wing of the party, arguing that Ellison would move the party too far to the left.” And the New York Times suggests that Democratic leaders pushed Perez to run because they viewed Ellison as too close to the Sanders wing.
The Sanders vs. Clinton schism in the Democratic party isn’t going away
Keith Ellison is the progressive choice being supported by Sanders himself. As Ed noted yesterday, Ellison is already taking a far left line, pushing for impeachment of President Trump (who has also offered a semi-endorsement of Ellison). But moderates in the party don’t like Ellison much.
Case in point, today Alan Dershowitz wrote a piece for the Hill threatening to leave the party if Ellison becomes chairman:
“There has been powerful push from the hard-left of the Democratic Party, led by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), to elect Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) chairman. If he is elected, I will quit the party after 60 years of loyal association and voting.”
Here is a look at the clicker Democrats will use to register their votes, courtesy of Frank Leone, a DNC member from Virginia. Members will also fill out paper ballots that will be collected for a later audit.
There are believed to be several dozen members that are not on hand who instead sent proxies to register their votes.

Street Artist Mocks Hollywood And The Oscars With Fake Movie Posters
Conservative artist Sabo created fake movie posters to mock Hollywood and the Oscars ahead of Sunday’s show to send a message to celebrities who keep attacking President Donald Trump.
The Los Angeles based street artist plastered the movie posters and “fake Redbox kiosks” Thursday night he created in “hard to reach places” near where celebrities will be walking the red carpet at the 89th Academy Awards show, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
“Yeah, we wouldn’t have paid full price to watch any Oscar nominated movies either,” one of the sayings on the fake RedBox kiosks read.
“These pieces look so legit no one is thinking to take them down,” Sabo said. “It almost looks like a real Redbox ad. I consider this piece my representation of the discounting of Hollywood.”
Spicer: President Trump Will Not Watch The Academy Awards This Year
President Trump will not watch the Academy Awards Sunday night, press secretary Sean Spicer said at the briefing Wednesday.
“I’ve got to be honest with you, I think the president will be hosting the Governors Ball that night,” Spicer said when asked if Trump would be watching. “The first lady has put a lot of time into this event, welcoming our nation’s governors to the capital. I have a feeling that’s where the president and first lady are going to be focused on Sunday night, so we’ll go from there.”
Before that, Spicer was asked why he thinks celebrities like Meryl Streep give politically charged speeches from the stage at awards shows.
“I have no idea. It’s a free country. I think Hollywood is known for being rather far to the left in its opinions.”
Democrats are officially cuckoo pants
Vincent Tolliver said he thought his rival Rep. Keith Ellison should not be chairman of the DNC, because his Islamic faith condemns homosexuality.
Interim chair Donna Brazile said Tolliver’s opinion was “disgusting” and chucked him out of the race.
Tolliver stated a fact: “Muslims discriminate against gays. Islamic law is clear on the subject, and being gay is a direct violation of it. In some Muslim countries, being gay is a crime punishable by death.”
Brazile parroted the Left’s cuckoo pants opinion: “The Democratic Party welcomes all Americans from all backgrounds. What we do not welcome is people discriminating against others based on who they are or how they worship.”

Big Labor threw tons of cash at Democrats, but workers voted red
Big Labor pumped $530 million of workers’ dues into mostly Democratic Party groups and liberal causes over a four-year period — with dismal results, according to a new analysis.
A total of $260.4 million went to 45 different party or Democratic leaning groups, including the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, Democratic Attorneys General Association, the Working Families Party, the Center for American Progress and Planned Parenthood.
More than $21.5 million went to left-leaning civil rights groups including Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition, National Council of La Raza and the NAACP.

While media reports indicate the president-elect has narrowed the field down to two candidates, a new name is on the lips of some on Trump’s transition team: Dr. Donald van der Vaart.
Van der Vaart is a PhD chemical engineer who currently heads the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality. If appointed and approved by Congress, Van der Vaart would be the first PhD scientist to head EPA. He also holds a law degree.
