The Swamp Claims Another Victim

It is appalling how the media takes such an intense interest in investigative journalism only when we have a republican president. Donald Trump has gone through a lot of advisers for a lot of reasons. Gen. McMaster and his son in law Jared Kushner are giving him terrible advice and Gen. Kelly is keeping a lot of important facts from him. All this is to the delight of a savage power that wants nothing more than to destroy him. If not him, then his surrogates. The latest is HHS secretary, Dr. Tom Price.

HHS Secretary Tom Price Resigns After Private Flights Scandal
Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price has resigned, according to the White House after a series of reports uncovered expensive private flights billed to taxpayers for travel.

HHS Secretary Price Resigns Over Travel; Did Obama Aides do the Same?
But let’s also stipulate a couple of things. With President Trump in office, the mainstream media seems to have regained an excitement for investigative journalism that it had lost during Barack Obama’s time in office. I’d like to see an investigation now of the travel habits of Obama cabinet members not involved in national security. I’d be willing to bet it would be revealing.

HHS Secretary Price Resigns Over Travel; Did Obama Aides do the Same?

No One Embodied This Failure Of GOP Leadership Better Than Tom Price
Price’s main job for the White House was to get an Obamacare repeal passed through Congress — a job he failed miserably at. However, that failure is now likely going to be overshadowed by his extensive misuse of public money.
Instead of making the interests of citizens the priority, Republicans are left fighting for their policy in the framework created by their opposition.
The same thing happened with attempting to repeal Obamacare, the issue Andrea Mitchell was able to attack for the lack of diversity among its crafters. Democrats shrieked that millions of people were going to die thanks to evil white men while Republicans made obscure arguments about federalism.
There’s a reason Obamacare has survived repeal after multiple attempts by Trump and his allies in Congress.

Media Celebrate Tom Price’s Resignation As ‘Scalp’ For Politico
Reporters celebrated Price’s resignation as a “scalp” for Politico reporters Dan Diamond and Rachana Pradhan. The two reporters first revealed Price’s use of planes, which reportedly exceeded more than $1 million in taxpayer funds.
One Politico reporter joked that the outlet’s reporters were going to dump “a cooler of Gatorade” on Diamond and Pradhan.
Maggie Severns Retweeted Rachana D. Pradhan

Flight furor: Obama officials also took pricey, non-commercial planes
Top figures during President Barack Obama’s tenure who used non-commercial planes for travel included then-attorney generals Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, then-FBI director Robert Mueller, and then-CIA director and defense secretary Leon Panetta.
Leon Panetta, who served as both CIA director and defense secretary during the Obama years, frequently used a government airplane to commute back and forth from Washington to California nearly every weekend at taxpayer expense.
The Washington Times reported then that each flight cost about $32,000 but Panetta only had to pay $630 per trip, because that was the cost of an equivalent round-trip commercial flight. It noted that the government required defense secretaries to use a military plane for travel, and Panetta had the approval of Obama to fly home every weekend.

Special counsel investigators start questioning White House staffers
Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team had been expected to start interviewing White House staffers, having already sought a wide variety of documents related to their probe of Russia’s attempted meddling in the 2016 election.
In a separate development, Fox News has learned that congressional investigators as well as federal agents are scrutinizing a Trump campaign national security meeting in March 2016 at Washington, D.C.’s Old Post Office, now the site of the Trump International Hotel.

Winning

So who’s winning? Barack Obama.
Yesterday Gutfeld described him as the hero at the end of the action movie who’s walking away, the bad guys’ fortress ablaze in the background. That’s how he left the White House. In shambles, full of land mines, with an army of dedicated agents ready to leak vital or damaging information at every turn to a media slavishly devoted to bringing the new president down. He sits in a mansion less than 2 miles away commanding a trained force of agitators, anarchists, and paid protesters ready to assail any republican who dares make a public appearance.

Report: Economy Adds 300,000 Jobs In President Trump’s First Month In Office
Great news, right? I mentioned this to my friend Willie the political idolater today. His answer was it was the result of Obama’s genius economic plan. For just as he used the “mess Bush left him” for his 8 long years of misery and economic stagnation he will now get credit from the media whores for any positive sign of economic growth. Can’t very well give Trump credit for knowing anything, now can they?
The CBO made their report on the AHCA yesterday. While it saves almost a half trillion dollars over 10 years the focus from the left was on the estimated 14 million who will lose coverage this year and the 26 million over 10 years that they claim will be left out. Of course, the first one with his ugly puss in front of the cameras was Schmuckie Schumer. That’s nothing new. The ‘non-partisan” office (there’s not a damn thing non-partisan in this town) is only as accurate as the information it’s given. The Obama crime family blatantly lied about the numbers so the estimate was off by at least $115 billion.

Same CBO That Praised Obamacare and Was Off by $115 Billion Pans GOP Healthcare Bill Today
In March 2010 leading democrats and their lackeys in the state-run media were “just giddy” to report that the CBO crunched some numbers and found the nationalized health care bill they were pushing would reduce the deficit by $138 billion.
It was a lie. Democrats knew it was a lie.
But, after several backroom deals, they rammed the bill through Congress anyway.
Then in May of 2010 the CBO corrected the numbers and said Obamacare will cost taxpayers at least $115 billion more than promised. Democrats pulled a fast one on the American public.
Republican Senators pointed out the deceit in a 2010 video:

Democrats promised that Obamacare would cost $940 billion when they rammed it through Congress. The actual cost has gone up with each revision.
A recent report says Obamacare will cost $2.6 trillion – nearly three times as much as Democrats predicted.
Today the far left CBO panned the Republican healthcare bill.
The Trump White House slammed the CBO’s report.

The plan is already facing resistance from conservatives who say the bill doesn’t go far enough, while more moderate Republicans have expressed concern about the bill’s defunding of Planned Parenthood and the rollback of expanded access to Medicaid.

THE MAIN DIFFERENCE IS THAT THE REPUBLICANS WANT TO PASS HEALTHCARE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS.
As I said yesterday, the democrats shoved a monstrosity through without debate so they could avoid the reconciliation process. They knew once they got it in, it would be almost impossible to remove, as are all government giveaway programs.

Obamacare Victims Tell Their Horror Stories at The White House
TRUMP, UNLIKE HIS PREDECESSOR, DOESN’T DELUDE HIMSELF THINKING HE KNOWS MORE THAN ANYBODY ABOUT ANYTHING. HE WANTS INPUT TO MAKE THE MOST INFORMED DECISIONS POSSIBLE.
“Our rates are three times what they were before Obamacare started. We have one provider in the county,” Carrie Couey of Colorado said. “We have very little options for what we can and cannot do. We are a small business, but we aren’t brick and mortar we are cattle ranchers. We can’t afford our equipment anymore if we’re paying these rates year after year after year. Our food source is in jeapardy because of this heath care law.”

NATURALLY, THE MEDIA WERE THERE TO PISS IN THE PUNCHBOWL
CNN Cuts Trump’s Feed During Obamacare Victims Meeting

NOT THE FIRST TIME — THEY MAKE A PRACTICE OF CUTTING OFF OPINIONS THEY DON’T AGREE WITH
Compilation of CNN Cutting Off Feeds Of People Who Go Against The Narrative

All the while, Obama sits back, smiles, and contemplates how to spend the $60 million he’ll rake in to write a bunch of lies (or have Bill Ayers do it for him) and watch his minions do his dirty work.

The GOP’s ObamaCare replacement will boost jobs and cut taxes
Ignore the grandstanding on Capitol Hill and the noise coming from townhall protests around the nation. The Republican bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare will boost your chances of getting a job and cut your tax bill, not to mention your insurance costs.
The repeal bill — called the American Health Care Act — also will stave off a tidal wave of future Medicaid spending that threatens to drown the states and Uncle Sam in red ink.

Was Obama simply a hoax?
We have The New York Post and we have Fox News, but after that we are in a wilderness of deception. No one knows where the truth lies.
The revelation making the rounds again about Obama, how he sneaked through $221 million to his terrorist friends the Palestinian Authority during the last hours of his presidency, makes it elaborately clear that he was always in it for himself and for his pals.
For eight years Israel was betrayed and America was duped by a charmer.
He armed Iran to the teeth. The mullahs grow bolder and now Obama’s generosity is President Trump’s problem. Where did Obama get the money to enrich all those terrorists? Came from our pockets – the Constitution be damned, according to Obama and the news media that babied him every single day for eight years.
All by himself Obama proclaimed that he did not even need Congress. He said, “I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone” – so forget the rules.
So much, then, for the claim that Obama did not have the Constitutional right to wiretap Trump….which is the hot news of the day.
That assumes that Obama as President cared about the Constitution, taught the Constitution, or ever learned the Constitution.

Be Careful What You Wish For

One thing is clear. If the miserable slug from Nevada had not undone the filibuster in his zeal to get rafts of Obama judicial nominees, President Trump would not have a single cabinet member confirmed. Not a one.

  • Education Secretary: Betsy DeVos confirmed on a voted 51-50.
  • Attorney General: Jeff Sessions confirmed 52-47.
  • HHS Secretary: Tom Price confirmed 52-47.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, the injunction against the travel ban was upheld by the ninth circuit by a margin of 3-0.

Sessions had not yet been confirmed and the lawyers from the Justice Department who argued the case were holdovers from the Obama regime, so there was no real motivation to put much effort in their argument.

It is paramount that the Republicans get Neil Gorsuch confirmed to SCOTUS before the case is heard there. With a 4-4 split, if Kennedy sides with the originalists in deciding such action is within the purview of presidential power, the lower court ruling would stand. It will eventually be reinstated, but the when is unknown.

Dianne Feinstein Regrets Filibuster Reform as Senate Confirms More Trump Cabinet Picks
The Senate confirmed Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State with 56 votes; Jeff Sessions as Attorney General with 52 votes; and Betsy DeVos, who barely reached a majority of 51 votes without Vice President Mike Pence’s deciding vote to confirm her as Secretary of Education.

“As we look back, it may well have been better to not have changed the rules.”

Some Democrats remain unapologetic about the decision, however. Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) told IJR he maintains that filibuster reform was essential:

“At the time I thought, ‘I might serve here with a Republican president and I might serve here when there’s a Republican majority.’  We were in a situation where positions that were really important were going vacant for years at a time.”

9th Circuit Refuses to Reinstate Immigration Pause; ‘We Beat You,’ Gov. Tells Trump
Moments after the ruling, Trump tweeted, “SEE YOU IN COURT,” adding that “THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!”

In response, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, a Democrat who leads one of the states that challenged the ban, said: “Mr. President, we just saw you in court, and we beat you.”

The court battle is far from over. An appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court seems likely. That could put the decision in the hands of a divided court that has a vacancy.

Trump’s nominee, Neil Gorsuch, is unlikely to be confirmed in time to take part in any consideration of the ban, which was set to expire in 90 days unless it is changed.

Schumer: ‘We Think We Have Done a Real Service to America’ by Vilifying Trump’s Nominees
Senate Democrats flew a restaurant worker all the way from Los Angeles to Washington on Thursday, to help them portray President Trump’s nominee for Labor Secretary not only as “unqualified,” but also as someone who steals money from workers; looks the other way when workers are sexually harassed; forces people to work for free; punishes them for calling in sick; and fights against raising the minimum wage.

“Puzder called us the worst of the worst and the bottom of the pool. I work myself to the bone just to survive. Why would we want someone who think so little of workers in charge of policies that could impact all of us?” the allegedly victimized woman asked.

On Thursday, Schumer told the same news conference, “It’s disgraceful to put ‘secretary of labor’ and ‘Puzder’ in the same sentence, given his views.”

Schumer said Democrats hope they can force the withdrawal of Puzder’s nomination, but even if they can’t, it’s all about laying the groundwork to stymie the Trump administration:

Liberal Ninth Circuit Court Is Overturned in Recent Years 80% of Time

The Ninth Circuit Court ruled against President Trump and continued to block his travel ban on Thursday.  The Ninth Circuit is the most liberal court in the country — and is the most reversed court in the country.

2010, perhaps seeking to reclaim its position at the top of the heap, the Ninth Circuit was reversed a startling 19 times (79 percent), three times as many reversals as most circuits had cases before the Supreme Court. The same pattern continued in the 2011 (71 percent) and 2012 terms (86 percent), when the Ninth Circuit was reversed more than twice as many times as most circuits had cases before the Court.

This Is Already Tiresome

Tucker Carlson was interviewing some blow-dried Ken-doll wannabe congresspunk from California last night and this clown would not stray from his talking points no matter what Carlson asked him. Thankfully, the network panned to a shot of the daily protests outside the Supreme Court.

I may be the only person in America who noticed some idiot holding a pre-printed sign that had the word “OPPOSE” at the top with a blank white space underneath it. After Trump made his nomination known, they printed “GORSUCH” in the blank space with a Sharpie. They were prepared to protest whoever the president picked, even if it was the Wizard of Oz.

As with their shameless behavior regarding the Cabinet nominees, they are going to fight this appointment tooth and nail. In the end they will likely lose, although it is a case of one originalist replacing another. The all-out war will occur if one of the leftists, probably the Notorious RBG retires from the bench. She has already stated she’s not going anywhere until there is a Democrat president to replace her.

Think: The Dems wheeling the late and unlamented Robert C. Byrd on a hospital gurney for an important vote, or Tim Johnson who suffered a brain aneurism and was absent for almost two years and never replaced, since he represented North Dakota, which would have elected a Republican in his stead.

They’re playing a dangerous and potentially disastrous game. Tingles Matthews claimed that not a single Democrat senator will vote to confirm. I disagree. There are 12 senators from red states up for re-election in 2018. The playbook says there will be 5 or 6 democrats who will be given permission to confirm as long as there are not the requisite 60 votes to uphold the filibuster. They all sing from the same hymnal: ‘Lord, save my ass.’

[CtH: I am still puzzling over why RBG didn’t retire when Obama was in office.  She’s older than dirt and is unlikely to survive the 8 years Trump could be in office.  Probably she, like the rest of the Ds, thought Hillary was a shoe-in.  Oops!  Cuz replacing Scalia with Gorsuch is no biggie.  Replacing Ginsburg with someone the Republicans like will tip the bench back toward traditional values and put Roe v. Wade seriously at risk.  We can pray!]

Chris Matthews: Gorsuch Vote Will Go To A Filibuster; Democrats Will Not Vote For Him, “Not A One”

“I think this is going to come down to a sad denouement,” Matthews said Tuesday night. “I think it’s going to take 60 votes to get this approved and I think the Republicans will have their rank-and-file 52 votes will be there. But I don’t think the Democrats are going to give them a single vote which mean this will go to a filibuster.”

[CtH: Why is Tingles still talking?]

Chris Matthews on Democrats who vote for Gorsuch:  He will “be on that court for 30 years … they will have to answer for this guy.”

And since, according to Matthews, no Dems will vote to confirm, the nomination will fall short of the required 60 votes.

This Insurrectionist disagrees. No matter how much McConnell reveres Senate tradition, he will not let such a qualified jurist, and Trump’s first Court nominee, go down to ignominious defeat. If push comes to shove, I predict that McConnell will invoke the nuclear option, and Gorsuch will be confirmed on a simple-majority vote.

IOW, THE DEMOCRATS MUST CHOOSE WHAT HILL THEY WANT TO DIE ON

Here’s Why It Would Be Very Stupid for Dems to Block Neil Gorsuch
Since January 20, many Americans have been daydreaming about the possibility of rebuilding the government from the ground up, like an episode of Designated Survivor. But as fun as it would be to watch Democrats tantrum their way into blocking Judge Neil Gorsuch‘s Supreme Court nomination, it’s a bad idea and would follow in the Republicans’ dangerous precedent.

Dems to Filibuster SCOTUS Pick, Claim Seat ‘Stolen’: “We will use every lever in our power to stop this.”
Senator Merkley declared the seat could go to none of Trump’s picks because it was “stolen,” presumably by the Russians.

“This is a stolen seat. This is the first time a Senate majority has stolen a seat,” Merkley said in an interview. “We will use every lever in our power to stop this.”

Protesters Arrested In NYC Demonstration Against Trump Supreme Court Pick
WONDER HOW LONG BEFORE THEY DECLARE THIS AGGRIEVED VICTIM WILL BE LABELED A ‘CIVIL RIGHTS ICON’?

[CtH: Where do they get these people who have TIME to go to all these protests?!]

Among those arrested was Gwen Carr, the mother of Eric Garner – the man who died on July 2014 on Staten Island as police tried to arrest him for selling loose, untaxed cigarettes. A grand jury later declined to indict NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo, who used a takedown move on Garner that many have described as a chokehold.

THIS WAS FROM YESTERDAY:
Once Again, Dems Deny Vote on Sessions… Where is GOP Leadership?
The Senate Judiciary Committee, once again, delayed voting Tuesday morning on the nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions for attorney general, pushing it back to Wednesday.

Therefore, the people of the United States remain without the proper attorney general, causing confusion and misdirection in the branch of government that ultimately provides safety and security to the American way of life.

GOP changes Senate rules, approves Trump cabinet picks
A Democratic boycott couldn’t prevent President Trump’s cabinet picks for Treasury and health from gaining approval by the Senate Finance Committee.

The Republican-led committee changed its rules to allow it to operate without the boycotting Democrats and approve Steve Mnuchin for the Treasury post and Tom Price as Health and Human Services secretary.

The next step will be for the pair to be confirmed by the entire Senate.

THE REPUBLICANS MAY HAVE FINALLY GROWN A PAIR!

Do your job!

2017_01-31-do-your-job

This is worth watching.  What strikes me most about Hatch’s long statement is how sincerely sad he sounds. Words he uses about the Democrat senators who have refused to even come to the hearings: shocking, ridiculous, offensive, partisan side show, reprehensible, unbelievable, stop posturing and acting like idiots, express yourself here and then vote, what’s the matter with Democrats, are they that bitter about Donald Trump? I don’t want to hear from any of them again about doing our jobs.  We’re here.  They’re not.  To differ, that’s one thing.  But I’ve always shown up.  We’ve given them plenty of time to show up. They have a right to vote no. But to not be here is a negation of their duty as senators.
