July 3, 2008: The day before Independence Day, Candidate Obama said that it was irresponsible and unpatriotic of Bush to allow the national debt to rise by $4 Trillion over his 8 years in office. What is three times worse than irresponsible and unpatriotic? Criminal and treasonous?
In 2008, Obama said that Bush added $4 Trillion to the national debt “all by his lonesome.” Not that he wants to take sole credit for the $6 Trillion that’s piled on since he moved into the Oval Office. We wouldn’t want to confuse the issues by noting that it’s Congress that writes the budget or that it was the Democrat-controlled Congress that took over in 2007 that did most of the debting Obama attributed to Bush.
At least, under Bush, Congress actually produced a budget. The Democrats who have been in charge of the Senate since Obama took office don’t much bother themselves about doing what is undoubtedly their single most important job and something they are paid handsomely to perform … but don’t, because they’re way too busy blaming the Republican minority for keeping Obama from creating Ameritopia. This is also what Obama does whenever the debt comes up. Blame Bush. Blame Republicans.
It’s astonishing how much raw power one acquires simply by checking R on a voter registration card, isn’t it?
Republican Bush managed to add $4 Trillion to the national debt “all by his lonesome” and the Republican minority under Obama has managed to block just about everything poor old Obama and his good-hearted Democrat majority have tried to do over the past three years!
I really must look in the back of my closet. Seems to me, there should be a red, white and blue Spandex body suit back there somewhere. I wonder if it has a cape.

•$251,000 in police overtime
•$10,000 for an ambulance to be on hand at all times

•Michelle Obama and her daughters stayed at the Sebastian hotel on Vail Mountain, where rooms cost more than $2,400 for multi-bedroom suites.
•The family appears to have flown there on Air Force Two.
•They were escorted to the resort by about a dozen vehicles, including 15 state and local law enforcement officers.

After the talk, out of earshot from the soldiers and diplomats, he starts to complain. He starts to act very un-Obamalike, according to a U.S. embassy official who helped organize the trip in Baghdad.
He’s asked to go out to take a few more pictures with soldiers and embassy staffers. He’s asked to sign copies of his book. “He didn’t want to take pictures with any more soldiers; he was complaining about it,” a State Department official tells me.
“Look, I was excited to meet him. I wanted to like him. Let’s just say the scales fell from my eyes after I did. These are people over here who’ve been fighting the war, or working every day for the war effort, and he didn’t want to take fucking pictures with them?”
To put the likelihood this is an accurate quote, keep in mind that Michael Hastings is a Leftist and NO FAN of the military. Remember the Rolling Stone hit piece that got General McChrystal canned? Hastings wrote it.
To put Obama’s dismissive attitude toward personal meet-and-greets into perspective, note that he’s “grateful” for soldiers’ service to him as a backdrop to his speech.
I have heard from many sources, including my own kid who met George Bush a few years ago, that HE didn’t just bother himself with such courtesies. He relished the opportunities.
AND … again from personal, first-hand, word of mouth … he put all the emphasis on the soldiers, NOT on himself. My kid reported three things in particular.
She was whelmed at how personally he greeted them, really looked into their eyes and thanked them effusively and genuinely for their service.
He told them he’d just come from a difficult meeting and was so grateful there were Marines on the South Lawn to greet him, because it cheered him up so much to see them. (I looked up his schedule. He’d been talking to Democrats.)
He personally reminded his staffer to be sure and get each warrior’s name and address so they would be certain to receive a copy of the official photograph.
Some people are really good at lying — i.e., being convincing with the language that comes out their mouths. But convincing body language is a whole other thing. It’s what separates the really talented actors from the rest of us.
Obama and Bush are not actors; they’re politicians. Even more compelling, they’re presidents who were photographed hundreds of times a day for years. I have learned all I needed to know about these two men just from studying photographs like these.
This is one occasion where I totally agree with Barack Obama. Saddling our kids with a back-breaking debt is irresponsible and getting our nation into debt with a foreign power is unpatriotic.

At a 2004 hearing, Democrat after Democrat attacked Republican attempts to impose regulations on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that would have prevented or mitigated the growth and bursting of the housing bubble that set off the current economic crisis.

Barney Frank Lies About Fannie Mae [:50]
Barney Frank says he was never pushing for excessive homeownership, just renting homes. And of course, he says the whole Fannie-Freddie mess was Bush’s fault.
But he lies. He pushed for home ownership, just like the rest of the Democrats involved in Fannie and Freddie.
“Those of us on our committee who continue to push for home ownership, but you’re not going to see the collapse you see when people talk about a bubble.”
It was these “risk-less” loans that failed and led to all those foreclosures the media tried to blame on Republicans.
Fannie and Freddie handed out 100% mortgages to people who couldn’t afford the monthly payments, never mind come up with a down payment, and who would never have qualified if they’d had to meet sound banking standards for loans.
But under Fannie and Freddie, they had the right skin color, so they were handed houses that they then had taken away again.
It stinks of Affirmative Action, which gets unqualified students admitted to colleges where they are almost certain to fail.
The Left calls this “compassion” … I call it unmitigated evil.
