PHILADELPHIA: Despite the fact that hospitalization rates were miniscule, city officials re-imposed an indoor mask mandate. Just 4 days later, city officials canceled the mandate, claiming it had “worked”, by which I’m thinking they meant that the peasants had threatened to tar and feather them.

VAXXX: A new study of tens of millions of Europeans found that heart inflammation requiring hospital care was 5 to 15 times higher among people who received ‘rona jabs than among those who did not. Rates were particularly high among men aged 16–24.

Sports fans have seen this problem on display as a surge of heart issues assault athletes. Between March 2021 and March 2022, more than 769 of them have collapsed on the field.

LIFE: When fetal tests show abnormalities, doctors often recommend abortion. But the tests are frequently wrong and, this week, the FDA finally admitted it.

MANDATE: The DOJ has filed an appeal seeking to overturn a federal judge’s Monday ruling which struck down the CDC mask mandate for public transportation. The DOJ argues that the mask mandate was still necessary for “protecting the public health of our nation.”

MSDNC’s medical “expert” offers this counsel to germophobes upset about bare-nekkid faces: “If people want to stay safe the best thing they can do: buy quality masks. And when possible, carry some extra masks—I know this sounds crazy—but if you tell someone next to you on a plane…’I’ve got an elderly mother at home, I’ve got a child with cancer at home, will you please do me a favor?’ Having the people at least closest to you in that row protecting yourself and them can be the best safety. So carry some extra masks with you, carry some rapid tests with you if you’re traveling.”

I wonder if it matters to her whether you actually have an elderly mother or child with cancer …. Or, for example, whether she’s bothered to listen to airline CEOs explain that the air in their planes is cleaner than clean.

SCHUMER: On Easter Sunday, Upchuck Schmucker spoke from the pulpit of AR Bernard’s NYC megachurch. Speaking of Ketanji Brown Jackson’s SCOTUS confirmation, he said, “the stone has been rolled away from the tomb.”

Jackson is a radical, pro-abortion, activist judge with a history of giving minor slap-on-the wrist sentences to convicted pedophiles.

Schumer is listed as a member of the Reform Jewish synagogue, Congregation Beth Elohim, in Brooklyn.

TRANS: Kevin Downey, Jr., writes, “A Pittsburgh study from last year states that roughly 10% of teens under 18 years old identify as ‘gender diverse.’ That’s five times higher than the national estimate, and it’s likely garbage. People actually suffering from gender dysphoria are rare. Teens craving attention, acceptance, rebellion, and purpose are innumerable.”

He offers a really sensible explanation for it. “The trans ideology of today is similar to the skinheads of the 80’s. Insecure, lonely, rebellious kids, frequently bored, and many angry at their parents, are looking for an outlet. This is the perfect breeding ground for recruiters from outlier subculture groups like skinheads and transgenders. Both groups offer a built-in social structure, acceptance, and a sense of belonging to a group of outsiders who have never belonged to anything. More importantly, both groups have the ability to make a kid feel ‘special’ because both groups offer ‘purpose’ and both groups consider themselves ‘victims.’ Victimhood, to many, is comfortable.”

Explaining Space to Space Force

This piece by DefConNews was too good to skip.

Someone wise, I forget who, described Kamala Harris’ word salads as being like a kid giving a book report on a book she didn’t read. The illegitimate vp was in California, addressing Space Force and she obviously hadn’t prepared. Instead of saying anything of substance she chose to explain the concept of space…to Space Force.

In your daily reminder that Kamala Harris sucks, here she is at Vandenberg Space Force base talking to space experts like they are children:

“Whether it is satellites that orbit the Earth, humans that land on the moon, or telescopes that peer into the furthest reaches of the universe, space is exciting,” said Harris.

She delivered that line like she was reading a book to kindergartners with wide sweeping gestures and over-annunciation.

“It spurs our imaginations and it forces us to ask big questions. Space, it affects us all and it connects us all,” Harris said.

At this point all of the members of Space Force who were forced into Kamala Harris’ space are going, “Oh, so that’s what space is. Thanks, Kamaltoe.”

You may have noticed that what Harris said is actually nothing. She didn’t describe what space is, she just tossed a word salad like: “Space is everything to everyone.”

What are the big questions space forces us to ask? How does space affect us all? How does space connect us all? If you want the answers to these questions you’ll have to read the space book that Kamala didn’t read.

From there, Kamala went on to try to explain the difference between right and wrong, something no democrat understands:

“In recent months, you’ve heard the president and me talk a lot about defending international norms and rules. Rules and norms. Our shared principals that guide the behavior of people and of communities. They are common understandings of what is right, of what is wrong, and what is acceptable,” said Harris.

Until that point, nobody had any idea what “rules” are. Thanks again, Kamaltoe.

Since nobody was paying attention, Harris then invented a new country:

“I’ve met with leaders from around the world. Countries like Singapore and France, Beyran and India,” said Harris.

I’m sorry, who is the leader of Beran? Maybe she said “Bae-ran,” which is her affectionate term for Iran. As we know, the Biden administration loves them some Islamic state sponsors of terrorism.

It’s possible that she actually said “Beyran in India” but that don’t make a lick of sense. The current president of India is Ram Nath Kovind which is close but not close enough.

The point, if there was one, of this Harris visit was to announce that satellites are awesome. Luckily Harris was on hand to explain what satellites do:

“Critical infrastructure like wind turbines that power our homes, well they rely on satellites for connectivity. Satellites help us track the climate crisis,” Harris said.

Damn, satellites are awesome.

This wouldn’t be a Kamaltoe shitshow without some cackling and she didn’t disappoint when she busted up saying the following:

“I spoke earlier this month with Mark Vande Hei, who just returned from 355 days in space on the space station. American record,” Harris said.

Gosh, that is hilarious.

While it sucked for me to watch this pointless speech and transcribe it, the real heroes are the brave men and women of the U.S. Space Force who had to stand behind Kamala Harris, enduring it live. That’s a mission no soldier should be forced into.

CINO: FAUXTUS is planning to eliminate conscience protections for medical workers implemented during the Trump administration as soon as the end of April. Joe “Devout Catholic” Biden claims he is personally opposed to abortion, but supports legal abortion, because he supposedly believes the law should not dictate what other people can or can not do. But where health care workers who are personally opposed to abortion are concerned, he apparently believes the law should dictate what they can and can not do.

CRT: [7:42] – Liberal teachers are ignoring legislative bans by changing a few words here and there. The video is about Idaho. Not the Bee has videos showing the same thing happening in Kentucky – “We don’t really let, like, anybody tell us what to do” – and Iowa – “We just have to change our language.”

DISNEY: In 1988, a child actor told his mother that film director Victor Salva had molested him repeatedly. Salva confessed to the sexual abuse and, after he got out of prison, Disney hired him to direct their 1995 film Powder which, thankfully, did not star a minor.

In 2008, Disney hired Brian Peck to work on a children’s series. Peck had recently completed a 16 month sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of molesting a Nickelodeon child actor.

In 2018, Disney fired James Gunn after he posted disgusting sexual tweets about young boys. A few months later, the hypocrites quietly rehired him.

DUCKDUCKGO: DuckDuckGo CEO Gabriel Weinberg said that the search engine downranks spam, but does not rank news lower based on a ‘political agenda.’

KENTUCKY: The Kentucky legislature has successfully enacted HB3, overturning Democrat Gov. Beshear’s veto. The new laws will prohibit abortions performed past 15 weeks, require parental consent for minors’ abortions, prohibit dispensation of abortion pills by mail, and require humane burial or cremation of aborted babies.

Because HB 3 took effect immediately, Kentucky’s two remaining abortion facilities have suspended their abortion operations, rendering Kentucky effectively abortion-free for the time being.

Other measures in HB3 include funding for charter schools, new rules for state welfare programs such as Medicaid and food stamps, a reduction in state income taxes, and an election security package containing several reforms, including a transition to fully paper ballots over the next two years and video surveillance of voting machines and ballot boxes.

LEFTISTS: Proving once again that they have no sense of humor, the author of a satirical tweet was contacted, in all seriousness, by a New York Slime jerknalist. Jared responded, “Hello Victoria, I would love to discuss the incident at your earliest convenience. I was pretty upset about the whole thing. Unfortunately it’s satire that only someone at the NYT would believe. In my time of contemplation, I was wondering how your team deals with the multitude of false stories that you peddle out daily to use as political propaganda and if you could give me advice on how to take my satire to the next level? PRICELESS: I saw this on FB – The other day I was at the local public park (not a dog park, but dogs are allowed there). We were walking along in a high movement area so I had my dog on a leash. Another dog, off leash, sees us and starts approaching.

My dog needs her space so we start moving away, but the dog got to us before we could leave. My dog was stressing a little so I politely said to the woman, sorry my dog doesn’t want to play and ushered her dog away.

Her dog gets the message and moves on.

Quite good, right? Here comes the juicy part:

As I’m leaving the owner comes to me with a speech more or less like this:

Hey, if your dog is nervous and doesn’t even want to play with other dogs, go somewhere else! Don’t come to the park and ruin other dogs fun.

I heard this and a wave of fury started taking over, but suddenly I think I had a lightbulb moment and switched gears completely.

With the biggest, friendliest smile, I opened my arms as wide as I could and said Ohhhhh! Come here… I want to give you a BIG hug!

With panic in her eyes, she backs up, speechless and quickly starts walking away.

I said “Hey, don’t run, I’m so friendly, come on, I only want to give you a hug! I’m friendly I promise… I just want to Hug You!”

Still speechless and backing away with terror now, I said “Wait, You don’t want my friendly hug?”

She yelled No!

I said “Well neither does my dog! Have a nice day.!!!”

As I walked away, I saw her just standing there, speechless and she was leashing her dog!

SHROUD OF TURIN: In 1988, a sample of the cloth many believe to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ was cut out for carbon dating. The test returned a result placing the origin of the cloth in the Middle Ages. Skeptics say the test was inaccurate, possibly due to the cloth having been in a fire and/or the section taken having been part of a repair, not the original cloth. Now an Italian scientist has used a new method to examine the fibers that found the cloth is 2,000 years old. He explains the process in the article linked here.

TEXAS: A Houston high school teacher has been fired after the porn he was watching on his laptop showed up on the classroom projector. He has been criminally charged with “display of harmful material to a minor,” a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $4,000.

In 2015, the disease killed millions of chickens. In addition, wild birds are suffering. So far, at least 36 bald eagles have died since February.

CALIFORNICATION: For the fifth year in a row, public school enrollment has dropped. For the first time since 2000, the state’s K-12 population has dipped below 6 million, with large urban districts accounting for one-third of the drop. School officials say they can’t account for it. EDUCATION: School Library Journal conducted a survey, asking K-12 librarians and teachers to identify book titles they would like removed from and added to summer reading lists. These are the top ones recommended.

Several of the removes, including the number one – “To Kill a Mockingbird” – deal with racism, but focus on individuals of both races who cross the divide. By contrast, the number one and number two adds – “The New Kid” and “The Hate U Give” – appear to center entirely on how raaaaacist White people are.

Given the other titles on the remove list, I’d be totally unsurprised to find that others among the adds promote hopelessness, victimhood, and socialism. But I frankly can’t deal with looking at any more of them.

2A: I saw this on FB – “The president who made M4s into party favors for the Taliban is telling me again that it’s too easy for Americans to get AR15s.”

DOGPILE: I’ve been using DuckDuckGo, but I recently read that they’re going to limit searches only to “recognized news sources.” Yeah, no. I can’t figure out how to make my default search use dogpile.com, so I just put it on to my tool bar.

EASTER MEDITATION: I dunno if all y’alls got anything out of my Lenten Meditations, but I certainly did and I find now that I’m loathe to suspend them. Fortunately, in the Catholic calendar, the Easter liturgical season extends all the way to Pentecost Sunday and encompasses such major feasts as Divine Mercy Sunday and Ascension. That being said … methinks that, going forward, I will be much more careful how I use the word “excruciating”!

FLORIDA: Florida has officially removed Common Core, banned public schools for teaching key concepts of CRT, and adopted the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (BEST) standards. Gov. DeSantis calls it a “return to the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic.”

As a result, the state’s Department of Education has examined and rejected 28 math textbooks for K–12, because they included Common Core, CRT, and/or “the unsolicited addition of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in mathematics.”

SEL is “the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.”

Can anyone explain to me what “empathy” has to do with adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing accurately? I googled “SEL math” and found entire websites about it. I read some of the stuff, but I still don’t understand it. SEL by itself makes sense, especially for kids like Bunny who really struggle with anxiety. But incorporating it specifically into math lessons? I mean, what?

KINDNESS: I saw this on FB – “I’ve always wanted to encourage a stranger. Yesterday I dropped off my comforter to be washed when I saw a pregnant woman with her kid. I knew she would be a great person to encourage. So I wrote this note and grabbed money from my wallet. Handed it to her and left… It doesn’t take a lot to bless someone.” – Keenya Kelly

MASKS: According to the linked article, there have only been two randomized studies conducted to test whether mask mandates do anything to inhibit the spread of COVID-19. The one done in Denmark showed the masks made no difference; the researchers were forced to rewrite their paper to claim masks worked in order to get their study published.

The one done in Bangladesh supposedly showed that masks slowed the spread, but the study was so badly designed that the author himself wasn’t able to defend his conclusions. And the graph shown above – which showed zero difference – came from that study, but was omitted from the report.

Watch this video starting at 29 seconds into it where Fauci himself admits that masks don’t work.

Yeah, no. Student debt cancellation is no kind of justice, because it forces people who did not sign up for or benefit from what that debt bought to pay it off.

GRAMMY NOTES: One of the things I learned in kindergarten was how to wait patiently while cold milk and snacks were passed out to each child before tackling that glued-for-eternity wax spout. Kids today, with their easy-peasy, straw-pokey, juice boxes just can’t appreciate the struggle!

It apparently started out as an amalgamation of a Presbyterian and a Methodist church that I’m guessing were both starving for members … maybe because they don’t preach the Gospel? Just sayin’. The site features a cross-inside-a-swirly-rainbow logo and lots left-wing buzz words like “affirming” and “relevant”, but no mention of Jesus, God, or the Bible. But hey, they offer “barrier free” facilities … to the “double-vaccinated.”

FLORIDA: Gov. DeSantis has signed into law a bill prohibiting abortions in the Sunshine State after 15 weeks gestation. Fifteen weeks gestation is equivalent to thirteen weeks pregnant. It marks the end of the first trimester.

At this point, the fetus has all of his/her physical features, organs and body parts. The liver is making red blood cells, which the heart is circulating throughout the fetus’ body. The bones are formed and the pituitary gland is secreting hormones. The little one has hair, fingernails and fingerprints. He/she can move around within the uterus and is swallowing and urinating amniotic fluid.

On April 10, the hand signal was instrumental in freeing a young woman from her violent boyfriend who had smacked her around and threatened her with a screwdriver if she tried to leave him. Thank God both she and the guy she signaled to both knew what the hand sign meant. Her captor was apprehended and has been charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated domestic assault.

Preschool teacher Tell Williams IV was uninvited to speak at a state Pre-K and Kindergarten conference this week after it came out that Williams has posted nearly 200 pornographic videos and photos of himself on the internet.

KENTUCKY: The Kentucky legislature has overturned Gov. Beshear’s veto to banning biological men from playing girl’s sports. Kentucky has become the 15th state to protect the integrity of athletic competition for our daughters.

LENTEN MEDITATION: From Catholic Answers – Jesus’ descent into hell means that Jesus “sojourned in the realm of the dead prior to his resurrection” (the Catechism 632). Like all men, Jesus experienced death, and thus his soul joined others in this realm. But as the Catechism points out, “he descended there as Savior” (CCC 632) and preached the good news to the spirits imprisoned there (1 Pet. 3:19).

Does this mean Jesus descended into hell to deliver the damned? Does this mean Jesus destroyed the hell of damnation? No. Scripture often uses the term hell – Sheol in Hebrew and Hades in Greek – to refer to the abode of the dead, which consisted of both the righteous and the unrighteous who were deprived of the vision of God.

But this doesn’t mean their experience of that realm was identical. Jesus made this clear in his parable of the poor man and Lazarus (Luke 16:22-26). The Jews affectionately referred to the righteous abode as “Abraham’s bosom.”

It is these spirits to whom Jesus preached the good news. “It is precisely these holy souls, who awaited their Savior in Abraham’s bosom, whom Christ the Lord delivered when he descended into hell” (CCC 633).

MICHAEL SUSSMANN: A judge has ruled that the criminal prosecution of a Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer charged with lying to the FBI during the Trump-Russia investigation can move forward. The trial is scheduled to begin on May 16 in Washington’s federal court.

Sussmann is one of three people charged so far by special counsel John Durham. Kevin Clinesmith, a former FBI lawyer, pleaded guilty to altering an email and received probation. Igor Danchenko, a Russian analyst and source of information for Christopher Steele, was charged in November with lying to the FBI.

2022: The latest Quinnipiac poll shows approval numbers for Biden’s job performance have dropped again.

  • Hispanics: 26% approve (12% strongly) vs. 54% disapprove (41% strongly).
  • Whites: 31% approve vs. 59% disapprove.
  • Blacks: 63% approve vs. 25 % disapprove.

The poll surveyed 1,412 adults between April 7-11 with a 2.6 margin of error.

ARIZONA: Gov. Ducey has signed a bill into law requiring all public and charter schools to give students one to two minutes of silence at the beginning of the day. Private schools, parochial schools and homeschools are exempt from the requirement.

BIDENFLATION: As of April 28, sellers who use Amazon’s fulfillment services will be paying 5% more than they do now. Amazon is calling it a “fuel and inflation surcharge.”

DO THE MATH: Not the Bee notes, “A bunch of wokies broke our their finest ‘AKSHUALLYS’ to prove that most Chinese third graders aren’t actually learning multi-variable calculus, probably because they’ve lived so long as basement NPCs that they’ve forgotten the poetic elements of rhetoric, hyperbole, and humor.”

In other news, a study published in 2006 noted that, for the past 20 years, Asian children have consistently outperformed their American counterparts in math. Explanations have focused on differences ranging from number-word systems and parental expectations to student motivation and curriculum content. But this study compared American and Chinese math teachers. While the former were more knowledgeable about general educational theories and classroom skills, the latter knew more about math.

“The study confirmed findings of a previous study that found that U.S. teachers do not have “a profound understanding of fundamental mathematics. This, despite the fact that all the American teachers in the study held a bachelor’s degree and more than half had obtained a master’s degree, while most of the Chinese teachers were trained, after junior high school, at a three-year teacher-training school where they studied subjects equivalent to those offered in high school.”

As we go into planting season please be aware that the USA has an invading species of worm called the Hammerhead Worm. They are indigenous to Southeast Asia and are currently in Alabama , Georgia and parts of Florida and South Carolina. Some say they have already made it to New England.

They have no known predators, so are spreading and, currently, there are no known chemical controls that target them. They are voraciously carnivorous and pose a significant threat to our friendly earthworms. They also secrete poisonous toxins and transmit harmful nematode parasites. Yuck.

Gardeners need to catch and kill any they see. But do not touch them! Use gloves when handling; they are believed to carry a potent tetrodotoxin. If you come into contact with one, wash the area with hot soapy water, rinse in alcohol and/or use hand disinfectant.

Also, do NOT cut any of them into pieces; each piece has the ability to grow into an entire new worm! They also seem to survive freezing temperatures, so chucking them in the freezer is out.

Agrigro said, “gardeners can rid the soil of them by heating it to 93ºF for five minutes.” Not sure how you do that, but if you know, go for it.

Another source said to soak them in a jar filled with salt and vinegar for a few days, which sounds really gross.

The wfla site suggested a thorough enough squishing may do the job, another really gross solution. They recommend putting salt on them and leaving them in bright sun so they dry out. Again, not sure how you do this AND keep them from crawling away … maybe in a jar? Argh, this is all really pushing my buttons. I sincerely hope there aren’t any in my garden!

TEXAS TORNADO: This photo is from a ranch owned by family friends. You can see the damage the twister did to the tree in front. Across the water, the brown swath is all downed trees, plus a lot of fencing that was also demolished. Thank God this thing didn’t hit a subdivision! UPDATE: Members of the Rios family are still in ICU, but are now expected to live. Please continue praying for them and all those whose homes were destroyed. Thank you.

TOLERANCE: I subscribe to a FB group called “Human Acts of Kindness.” Somebody posted this graphic and I am just so sad about how many nasty comments it engendered … from people who subscribe to a group dedicated to kindness. Apparently, kindness, like tolerance, is something leftists reserve only for those who think and act and vote the same way they do.

TWITTER: Elon has offered to buy Twitter for $43 billion in cash. He wants to take it private and “transform” it into “the platform for free speech around the globe” (his words).

VAXXX: Carol Beauchine died Aug. 2, 2021, from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a fatal degenerative brain disorder she developed almost immediately after her second dose of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine. She was healthy until she got the shots. Her son says, “We all knew from the very beginning it was related to the shot.”
