Super Moon Alert

I had to post this today because tomorrow is too late.

Look up on Sunday! A ‘full cold supermoon’ is set to grace the skies this weekend: Here’s how to see it
A supermoon appears when the moon and Earth are at their closest point
The moon appears to be 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter in the sky
The best time to see will be at 08:45 GMT (03:45 EST) on December 4
At this point the moon will be 222,135 miles (357,492 kilometres) from Earth
Skygazers are set to be treated to a ‘full cold supermoon’ this weekend.


As the moon orbits the Earth every month, there is a point in every cycle where the moon is closest (perigee) and a point where it’s farthest away (apogee).

There is also a monthly lunar cycle where you can see varying amounts of the moon depending on it’s position relative to Earth and the sun.

For a supermoon to happen, these need to line up – something that will occur this Sunday.

If the skies are clear then there should be no difficulty spotting the supermoon

Cop to thug who shot him: You’ll need a lot of lube in prison
“You are going to need a lot of this,” the officer, who was not named, said to Kevin Rojas, 21, while holding up a container of the lubricant during Rojas’ sentencing, the Florida Times-Union reported.

Michael Flynn… It’s Complicated

Actually, not so much when you get right down to it. Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to one count of lying to the FBI. He could have been charged with a number of other offenses. This led to speculation that he flipped and is cooperating with the Mueller inquisition in his jihad against President Trump. The Dow plunged about 300 points after the news broke but gained most of it back by the end of the day. At this point it’s all speculation. Trump’s attorney says it’s a nothing burger, as does Andrew McCarthy. The left is making messes in their underwear at the fantasy of the president’s demise dances in their heads like so many sugar plums. I went to Yahoo, which is as hard left as HuffPo, and tried to read some of the comments. They were absolutely giddy at the thought of a possible impeachment.

Donald Trump ‘the candidate’ did not commit a crime: Gregg Jarrett

Former Trump national security advisor Michael Flynn plead guilty Friday to charges of lying to the FBI. Now there are reports Flynn was urged by then-candidate Donald Trump to talk to the Russians in potential violation of the Logan Act, a 1799 law which bars private citizens from negotiating with foreign governments.
But Fox News anchor and attorney Gregg Jarrett told the FOX Business Network’s Neil Cavuto this would not violate the Logan Act.
“No, it wouldn’t…Nobody’s ever been prosecuted under it. Why? Because the federal courts, especially a New York U.S. federal court, said in 1964 it’s unconstitutional,” Jarrett said.

What the Flynn Plea Means
ANDREW McCARTHY EXPLAINS IT AS WELL AS ANYBODY
Flynn, an early backer of Donald Trump and a fierce critic of Obama’s national-security policies, was generally despised by Obama administration officials. Hence, there has always been cynical suspicion that the decision to interview him was driven by the expectation that he would provide the FBI with an account inconsistent with the recorded conversation — i.e., that Flynn was being set up for prosecution on a process crime.
While initial reporting is portraying Flynn’s guilty plea as a major breakthrough in Mueller’s investigation of potential Trump-campaign collusion with the Russian regime, I suspect the opposite is true.
In his guilty-plea allocution (the part of a plea proceeding in which the defendant admits what he did that makes him guilty), the accomplice explains the scheme and the actions taken by himself and his co-conspirators to carry it out. This goes a long way toward proving the case against all of the subjects of the investigation.
That is not happening in Flynn’s situation. Instead, like Papadopoulos, he is being permitted to plead guilty to a mere process crime.
Meanwhile, the only major case Mueller has brought, against former Trump-campaign chairman Paul Manafort and an associate, has nothing to do with the 2016 election. It is becoming increasingly palpable that, whatever “collusion” means, there was no actionable, conspiratorial complicity by the Trump campaign in the Kremlin’s machinations.

Just a smorgasbord of things today.

My stepson is 36 and he and some of his friends were on Facebook yesterday talking about “the old days” and how good things were back then. Being the old grump I am, with all my filters long since gone,  I had to inject myself. I simply commented that they weren’t old enough to have any ‘good old days’ yet. But wait, it will come faster than they could ever imagine.

Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey stormed Senator Al Franken’s D.C. office Wednesday, demanding the embattled lawmaker resign over multiple sexual harassment allegations against him. Reporter Melanie Morgan, a Franken accuser, joined Broaddrick and Willey. Of course, Broaddrick and Willey are two of former President Bill Clinton’s most famous accusers.
After a few minutes of waiting for Franken, Morgan shouts, “Don’t be a coward, come out and talk to us!”
“Speak to us! We have something to say to you!” Morgan says.
Franken’s handlers then tell the women that he’s busy and will not have time to meet with them, prompting Morgan to recount allegations against the then-comedian. Franken allegedly stalked Morgan after they disagreed on the OMB’s budget numbers during a taping of ABC’s late night show Politically Incorrect in 2000.
Capitol Hill police then show up to Franken’s office, demanding the group of women leave.
“This is a place of business,” the officers say.

Case shows judges matter

“A U.S. District Court judge in Washington on Tuesday handed a big victory to President Donald Trump, ruling in favor of the administration in its bid to install White House budget director Mick Mulvaney as acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau,” Politico reported this evening.
When Trump took office, he issued two executive orders to halt travel with seven, and then six, countries. Obama appointees blocked the orders. The Supreme Court eventually stepped in and let the orders go through, unmolested.
That was judicial activism. Those Obama-nauts exceeded their authority.

Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva’s secret deal with a former female staffer was revealed by The Washington Times on Monday. The payout was negotiated by the House Employment Counsel, the body’s attorney, and cost taxpayers $48,395.

Almost Every Graduate Of DC High School Was Truant, Yet All Of Them Were Accepted To College
The majority of graduating students at a Washington, D.C. high school did not attend more than six weeks of high school, but still managed to get into college, an investigation into the students’ records found.

The District of Columbia Public Schools system policy states that students who misses a class more than 30 times should fail that class, according to WAMU.

Despite these absences, all of the 2017 seniors got into a college, a feat for which the school received high praise. One student said the class-wide acceptance was a repudiation of all those who said the school — where at one point only 3 percent of students met the reading standards — couldn’t do it.

Some teachers who spoke to the outlet said they felt they had to graduate failing students due to pressure from the high school administration. Other teachers said the lack of expectations allowed students to do what they wanted and not show up for class.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) may not have won the Democratic nomination for president, but he was just nominated for a Grammy Award. In Case You’re Not Keeping Up

There’s a battle raging in D.C. that you may not be aware of or even fully understand. Here’s an attempt to simplify things a bit.

Consumer Protection Finance Bureau … that’s the last time I type that because pecking away at this keyboard I’m 8 thumbs and two middles fingers. Henceforth it is now simply CFPB.

This dirty little deed came about during the Dodd-Frank disaster that ruined the economy and led to the ascent of one Barack Obama. Lieawatha Warren was once the head of this thing.

Rush:  The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. This is another little liberal enclave that was established by liberal Democrats, including Elizabeth Warren, that was set up as an agency that was unaccountable to anyone. It even had a budget that was unaccountable to the U.S. budget. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd set this thing up and Elizabeth Warren was the real driver of this particular organization, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

This was an independent agency set up to be able to legally get money from the financial industry and then turn around and give it to left-wing activist groups. And that’s what they were doing with it. And that’s why they are so desperate to hold on to it. The point is, it’s unconstitutional, and that’s the only thing that matters.

RICHARD CORDRAY, WHO IS STEPPING DOWN TO RUN FOR GOVERNOR OF OHIO, ILLEGALLY APPOINTED HIS UNDERLING, LEANDRA ENGLISH, AS ACTING DIRECTOR.  HE HAS NO AUTHORITY TO DO THAT.

Rush:  There’s something called the Federal Vacancies Reform Act which allows the president, who runs the executive branch, to appoint successors to people in federal agencies under the executive branch umbrella leaving. This thing was set up to be an independent agency accountable to no one. Its very existence is unconstitutional. The left knows it. That’s why they’re hell-bent, Cordray named this Leandra English to succeed him.

The money went to unions. The money went to states and teachers and union members to keep them employed during the Great Recession. The reason for that is, those people need to be employed in order to pay union dues. Union dues are collected from what they make and are sent in a circuitous route back to the Democrat Party in the form of campaign donations. So the stimulus was a substitute for Obama walking over to the Treasury and writing a check for $800 billion to the Democrat National Committee.

CFPB Joins Justice In Shaking Down Banks For Democrat Activist Groups
The CFPB plans to create a so-called Civil Penalty Fund from its own shakedown operations targeting financial institutions. Through ramped-up (and trumped-up) anti-discrimination lawsuits and investigations, the agency will bankroll some 60 liberal nonprofits, many of whom are radical Acorn-style pressure groups. It says these organizations will provide “financial coaching” for low-income homebuyers, as well as “housing and social services.”

Obama’s Department of Housing and Urban Development is also getting in on the act.

In a $200 million settlement with Associated Bank, which the agency accused of lending discrimination, HUD is forcing the Wisconsin bank to funnel tens of millions in “donations” to “community groups.”

This is extortion of private business by government. Congress’ new leadership must call on the agency’s inspector general and the Government Accountability Office to audit these pernicious payola schemes.

It turns out that Cordray, quite illegally, on his way out named his deputy, Leandra English, as the temporary director. When Mulvaney arrived at work Monday morning, he was forced to issue a memo saying “Please disregard any instructions you receive from Ms. English in her presumed capacity as acting director.”

The D.C. lawyer appeared caught off guard when CNBC hosts asked who was financing his effort. He stumbled over his words in his first answer and said some form of unidentified “structure” was being put in place to accept funds from anonymous donors.

“Well, uh, it’s, it’s not, um, Miss, um English, um, ah. There are ethics lawyers that we’ve consulted, and we have a structure set up that is with ethics rules and, um, we’ll and we’ll be talking about that once we have that,” he told CNBC.

A U.S. District Court judge in Washington handed a big victory to President Donald Trump, ruling in favor of the administration in its bid to install White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney as acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Judge Timothy Kelly denied a request by Leandra English, who was named last week as acting director by outgoing CFPB chief Richard Cordray, for a temporary restraining order to block Mulvaney from taking the post.

Kelly said there was not a substantial likelihood that the case would succeed on its merits.

It was on display again yesterday at a ceremony to honor the Navajo Code Talkers who played a huge part in winning the war in the Pacific. The code spoken in their native tongue is the only one the Japanese never cracked.

Warren slammed the president over the “racial slur” moments after he made it.

“It is deeply unfortunate that the president of the United States can’t even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without throwing out a racial slur,” the Massachusetts senator said during an appearance on MSNBC shortly afterward.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended Trump’s remark, saying it was not a racial slur.

“I think what most people find offensive is Sen. Warren lying about her heritage to advance her career,” she told reporters.

Already printing petitions Monday night– to begin the process of getting signatures before next Monday’s deadline — is Cook County Commissioner Jesus Chuy Garcia. Ald. Carlos Ramirez Rosa is considering a congressional race. This will also leave an opening on the county board should Garcia opt for Gutierrez’s seat.

Those interested in running for Gutierrez’s seat besides Garcia and Ramirez Rosa include Ald. Joe Moreno and Ald. George Cardenas.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders shared a maybe too good to be true photo of a pecan pie she says she made for Thanksgiving.  Internet conspiracy theorists jumped in saying it was a stock photo of a pie.

White House correspondent April Ryan egged on the sweet debate calling on Sanders to show her cooking and people eating the said pie.  In the end, Sanders never offered definitive proof of an actual pie, but she offered something rather sweet to get the press pool off her back.
