It’s About Time

Kudos to whoever finally got it right.

Trump, in a decision to forego his frenetic shoot-from-the-lip style, used a teleprompter to deliver a scathing assault on Cankles Clinton yesterday. He was deliberate, measured and sounded more like a statesman than a cheerleader at a pep rally.

I haven’t heard the entire speech yet, which is almost an hour, but I’m posting in 4 segments of about 12 minutes each. I doubt any of you will take the time to watch, but it’s well worth your time. If he can keep this up and stop wasting time with distractions like his golf courses and Trump University, he can enlighten some people who have yet to hear the truth as to how corrupt the Bloody Bitch of Benghazi really is.

Donald Trump and his joint fundraising committee have raised at least $11 million since Tuesday morning, Republicans said Wednesday, a tremendously quick haul that comes amid concerns about his fundraising ability.

Trump Victory, the joint fundraising account with the Republican National Committee, and Trump’s official campaign raised $5 million online since Tuesday morning, when it sent one of its first fundraising pitches to its email list, according to Sean Spicer, an RNC spokesman.

Trump just blasted the message that can win the White House

“We will never be able to fix a rigged system by counting on the same people who rigged it in the first place,” Trump said.

And he bashed “insiders” — like Clinton — who “wrote the rules of the game to keep themselves in power and in the money.”

That describes her record to a T. And it explains why Trump is appealing to Sanders voters — in fact to working-class voters of all races.
He noted her history of lies and how she’s beholden to the Wall Street fat cats and barbaric foreign governments that have given her, her husband and their family foundation hundreds of millions of dollars.

“Hillary Clinton has perfected the politics of personal profit — and theft,” Trump said. “She ran the State Department like her own personal hedge fund, doing favors for oppressive regimes, and many others, in exchange for cash.”

All absolutely true.

Yet “she believes she’s entitled to the office” of president — indeed, she’s so self-obsessed that her campaign slogan is “I’m with her.”
His response: “I’m with you: the American people.”

If he wins, “Americans are going to start believing in the future of our country.”

Who’s Up for a Slumber Party?

Yesterday in the hallowed halls of the U.S. Congress, multi-millionaire liberal gasbags behaved like spoiled, petulant delinquents who don’t get their own way. Rep. John “Penis Head” Lewis, civil rights icon and race hustler extraordinaire, called for a sit-in, which turned into a sleepover. Since Congress was not officially in session the C-Span cameras were turned off, but your intrepid reporter has eyes and ears everywhere.

Phony Indian princess Dizzy Lizzy Warren crashed the party with pizzas, allegedly made with buffalo sausage from a bison she killed with a spear. She was out of mushrooms, so she used peyote buttons for flavor.

Nancy Pelosi chugged a bottle of wine from her own vineyard and started babbling incoherently… nobody noticed the difference.

Loretta Sanchez did a mean salsa dance with Obama attack chihuahua Luis Gutierrez.

Charlie Rangel and John Conyers ogled Sheila Jackson Lee’s ass. Conyers was overheard saying, “I’d hit that if I could remember how.”

Wasserman-Schultz had an attack of jungle fever and slipped out with Bobby Rush and came back looking flushed.

Alan Grayson phoned D.C. Dial-A-Hooker and ordered the two-for-one special. The madam said, not you, not now, not ever. There’s just some things my ho’s won’t do.

Someone started singing ’99 bottles of beer on the wall’…. after 94, nobody could remember the rest of the song.

Somebody mentioned a game of indoor softball. It was cancelled when Tammy Duckworth refused to be second base.

Senate shoots down ALL 4 gun control proposals; see final tallies


The Senate voted down four gun amendments tacked onto a Department of Justice spending bill Monday evening.

The measures – two introduced by Democrats and two by Republicans – were attached in the wake of the Orlando terror attack, which left 49 people dead and many more injured at a gay night club.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley’s amendment was the first to be rejected in a 53-47 vote. It would have allocated more funds to the National Criminal Instant Background Check System and added mental health to the list of components for background checks.

Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut’s amendment to expand universal background checks was the next to be rejected in a 44-56 vote. Murphy had filibustered for nearly 15 hours on June 15 in an attempt to gain traction on the bill.

Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn’s amendment went down in a 53-47 vote and would have required the attorney general to investigate any gun purchase made by someone on the terrorist watch list.

The final vote of the evening, a measure introduced by California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, went down in a 47-53 vote. It would have allowed the attorney general to stop a prospective buyer from purchasing a weapon if there was “reasonable belief” it would be used for acts of terror.

This Is the Path We Have Chosen

So the media did its job. It gave Trump millions of dollars in free publicity when there was a contest in the primary. We’ve seen this all too often. Media gives the republican they want as an opponent hugs and kisses until it’s time to turn on them and show where their true loyalties lie. McCain was so delusional he thought the presstitutes really liked him. That was only when he was trashing other republicans… which was often. Trump has drawn a lot of pissed-off patriots to his rallies with his fiery rhetoric and seemingly anti-establishment positions.

I remain firm in my belief that he first ran on a whim and people took him seriously. He says all the right things but offers no concrete plans to do anything about the economy, immigration, or the trampling of our rights. He’s acting like rallies are going to see him through to the end. He sounds tough, but he’s facing a Clinton Machine that attacks with a savagery he’s never encountered before. They’re professionals and they have a lot of experience fighting dirty, with the full support of the media who carry their water.

Despicable disciples from the controversial Westboro Baptist Church showed up in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday as the first of the 49 victims killed by a radicalized Muslim gunman was being laid to rest, but the City Beautiful was in NO MOOD to put up with their nonsense.

A Personal Request

Last year we were honored by Curmudgeon at Political Clown Parade with the Paul Revere Award for excellence in a small political blog. We were so recognized, I believe, based on the strength of my bestest buddy Chrissy’s special talents. She has been struggling with health issues and my limited skills are a poor substitute. Bluebird and Grunt add some semblance of professionalism, but they have busy lives that limit their time here. I do the best I can to bring things that may be of interest or have some redeeming social value. Sadly, it usually comes out as incoherent drivel.

We have been nominated for the award again this year and voting is now open at PCP. There is a list of nominees posted there and you can vote for as many as you like, but you can only vote once. After all, we’re not democrats. If you can spare a few minutes, maybe you can help out at political clown parade.blogspot.com. It is gratifying to be recognized by one’s peers, but the task seems dubious, at best. Your support would be appreciated.

Hometown Proud

Rockford, Illinois was the second-largest city in the state for a long time. Now Springfield has taken its place. Forbes Magazine has named Rockford the worst or second-worst place to live in America numerous times.

We have great schools and the cost of living is pretty cheap compared to the Chicago area, less than an hour away. We have the Chicago Blackhawks AHL affiliate, the Rockford Ice Hogs, and have been host to a CBA team and several class A baseball teams.

I grew up here, I’ll die here. We lived far enough outside of city limits that we could enjoy what the city had to offer and still retreat to our acreage and the quietude.

We had 5 movie theaters downtown. I remember getting a bus token from granny and going to wait for the bus to take me downtown where the action was. I was 12 when I made my first solo journey. My grandparents didn’t even get arrested for child abuse.

We have lovely parks and golf courses, and until insurance and costs shut it down, a festival every Labor Day weekend called On The Waterfront, where the entire downtown straddling the Rock River drew thousands for the food, music ranging from jazz to country to old rock and roll, like Mitch Ryder and Gary Puckett (minus the Union Gap). It finished with an awesome fireworks display over the water. There were carnival rides and food from dozens of restaurants.

This is the national landmark, Coronado Theater. They don’t show movies here anymore, but they do have concerts and other entertainment. Until the Metro Center was built, this is where high school classes had their commencements. You would have to see it to appreciate what a magnificent structure it is.

A movie cost 50 cents and a soda and popcorn was about $1.50. The movies played on a loop, so if you came in late you could stay and watch the cartoons, previews and beginning again if you wanted. The seats were velvet and the carpet was plush.

Prince Castle was a franchise based in Dixon, Ill., Reagan’s hometown. My cousins lived 1 block from the one here in town. They used square scoops for dispense ice cream and had the best grilled burgers in town.

The Robin Drive-In was one of several in town. It was nearest to our place, so it’s where we went with granny, mom, and sometimes mom and a boyfriend. We dressed in our pajamas because they had a playground in front of the screen where we played until it was dark enough to start the show. (It was also when I got my first taste of feminine pulchritude, but that’s another story.)

The city now has more than its share of robberies and murders. A lot of it has migrated from Chicago. Obama is trying to shove more low-income housing down our throats in the name of “diversity.” Most of the south and west side, once home to old Italian and Polish families, is now minority-infested. That’s why I’ve lived in Loves Park across the river for much of the last 20 years.

Things change, usually not for the better. I’m so blessed to have enjoyed an amazing life. No complaints.

Thursday Grab Bag

The landlord is replacing the kitchen floor today. The only exit from our apartment is through the kitchen, so I have a cooler with some food and drink. I can’t leave the mancave, so here we are. It seems that a few more people are commenting if all the links aren’t buried in the reply section. I try to keep posts topical, but it doesn’t always work out that way.
We have been nominated for another Paul Revere award this year, but the competition is as stiff as my joints after sitting here for hours. Time will tell.

House Oversight Committee votes to censure IRS Commissioner

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted to approve a resolution designed to censure IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. The Committee announced the vote and the reasons behind it in a press release:

The Resolution expresses the sense of the House that Mr. Koskinen engaged in a pattern of conduct inconsistent with the trust and confidence placed in him as an Officer of the United States, urges Mr. Koskinen’s resignation or removal, and requires forfeiture of his government pension and any other federal benefits for which he is eligible.

Chairman Jason Chaffetz tells The Hill that this is the first step toward impeachment, but this sense of the House vote does not require any follow up from the Senate:

Confederate Flag Removed In PA Capitol, After Its “Theft” From Historical Display

The collection of handmade replica flags spans the age of early exploration – starting with a flag believed to have flown on Viking quadroons – through colonization and expansion to the present day.

And yes, there is a chapter devoted to the Civil War era, including the flag of the Confederate States of America – then and still one of the most controversial political symbols in our heritage.
The flag was in its place at least as late as 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

But Wednesday morning, shortly before a press event to draw attention to the display, its curator, Debra Markle, found a gap in the display. The Confederate flag and its accompanying placard was missing.
Rep. Vanessa Lowery Brown, a Philadelphia Democrat and the current chair of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, told PennLive Wednesday morning that she took the flag down Tuesday night.

Brown, who said she was offended by the flag’s presence in the Pennsylvania Capitol, said she turned it in to unnamed House officials. She is expected to address the issue further at a press conference today.

The president told reporters that Omar Mateen, the Pulse nightclub gunman, carried out his carnage with “an assault rifle.” Although he actually used a Sig Sauer MCX, many outlets reported that he had an AR-15.

At first glance the two weapons look similar.

The letters “AR” do not stand for assault rifle, but rather “Armalite Rifle,” the firm that developed the weapon.

Progressives latched onto the “AR” designation to call it an assault rifle and make it sound all the more scary.

The president went on to say that Mateen also had “a handgun, a Glock, which had a lot of clips in it.”

First of all, Glocks don’t use clips — they use magazines. Secondly, you can only put one magazine in the well at a time.

Not all the text is available, but one, from Rep. Tony Cardenas, a Democrat from California, would lift a ban on gun-related research being conducted by federal entities, according to media reports. It comes as the American Medical Association voted this week to declare gun violence a “public health crisis” and to “actively lobby” for the federal government to conduct its own research on firearms, the Hill reported.

Looks like some Republicans are cutting their own deals to line their pockets. Just business.
