RNC cuts debate ties with conservative magazine over anti-Trump issue

We expected this was coming,” National Review publisher Jack Fowler wrote in a blog post early Friday, calling the RNC move a “small price to pay for speaking the truth about The Donald.”

The move by the RNC leaves CNN, Salem Media and Telemundo as the remaining debate sponsors. Earlier this week, the RNC announced that it had severed ties with NBC, the previously scheduled debate host, due to dissatisfaction with the way the network conducted a debate on CNBC this past October.

WE ARE SIMPATICO

It is gratifying to know that my fellow blogger and bestest buddy CtH shares the deep disappointment I’m sure many of us feel about Sarah Palin endorsing The Donald. I have never been ambiguous about my feelings toward Trump. I enjoy watching him slap the media around but I don’t trust him one iota. He’s not running because he wants to make things better, he’s running for the attention. He laps it up like a thirsty hound. Sarah threw away years of goodwill with her joining the circus that is the Trump campaign. My guess, which is as good as anybody’s, is that Palin has been screwed over by the GOPe so badly she’s only in it for herself now. I doubt she will be his VP candidate, given that the left’s vitriol toward her is still an all-consuming fire. I do, however, think he’s promised her a position, perhaps as Energy secretary. Trump is using ethanol subsidies to pander for votes in Iowa, even though it’s a fact (Algore admitted it) that ethanol does nothing for gas and he lied about it just to get votes in 2000. Meanwhile, underdeveloped countries are starving for the corn that once was used for food that now is wasted in refining fossil fuels.

Sarah Palin Just Threw Away Years of Goodwill as a Principled Conservative

While Trump has been sharply criticized by many (including me) for his lack of support for conservative principles on many issues, Palin has been viewed as a conservative standard-bearer ever since she first appeared on the national scene in 2008. Much of Palin’s popularity with tea partiers and conservative activists comes from her willingness to be a strong voice for conservative principles, and sadly, today’s endorsement stands in direct contradiction to many of Palin’s own words over the years.

On abortion On eminent domain On mocking people with disabilities On flip-flopping politicians

Today, Palin is standing in Ames, Iowa to put her support behind someone who cannot be trusted to protect the unborn, who has twice traded in his wives for younger models (literally), who claims to be for the “little guy” but who has been all too willing to use government as a hired thug to line his own pockets, and who spent years making significant donations to Hillary Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee.

I miss the Sarah Palin I thought I knew. I miss the tough-talking governor who energized the 2008 ticket. I miss the tea party champion. I miss the brave woman who didn’t just talk the talk, but walked the walk on the pro-life issue, no matter how nasty the attacks on her and her family. I don’t know where this Sarah Palin went, but she wasn’t in Iowa today.

Your intrepid reporter underwent successful cataract surgery yesterday. God bless Medicare. The surgeon was referred by my family doctor and is the best in the city. When he schedules these operations he does an average of 16 in a day.As always,the doctor was running behind so it took an extra hour. The patient behind the curtain next to me in pre-op spoke no English and the nurse had to get a translator on the phone to get the necessary questions answered. When she came to check on me I asked how often they had to do that. She said it was a lot. Welcome to America.

PERSONAL COMMENTARY BY ME… BECAUSE I CAN
Poor Michelle Robinson Obama. She started her hardscrabble life in a middle class neighborhood on Chicago’s south side, where her daddy was a union boss with the Water Department and a ward strongman for the late Mayor Daley. She had to walk 20 miles through knee-deep racism to the exclusive Whitney Young High School, which was a private institution. After graduation she climbed aboard the Affirmative Action train and rode it to Columbia University where she majored in racial hatred. She was active in every socialist protest, celebrating her victimhood. The late Christopher Hitchens read her senior thesis and pronounced her race-hating tome as being written by an average junior high school student.

She then moved on to Harvard where, like Hillary Clinton, she recognized her future baby daddy as a lying phony who, like herself, had everything handed to him based strictly on his race. But he was smart enough to have all his records sealed by court order before he began his political career so nobody would find out how lazy and stupid he really was.

After he was elected to the Illinois State Senate by having his opponents’ qualifying petitions disqualified (it’s how the Chicago mob does things) she was given a job at a Chicago hospital as the “Director of Community Outreach.” Her job was to force needy patients out to make room for more lucrative people who had medical insurance. Her salary was about $184,000. After her man walked off with the U.S. Senate seat by having Jim Ryan’s court-sealed divorce records forced open, she got a raise at the hospital to $312,000. After Barry turned the White House into an unofficial mosque, her former position was never refilled.

For the last eight years she has pranced and preened her in-your-face attitude while taking seemingly-monthly vacations all over the world with her kids and Mama Robinson and an entourage of hundreds in tow, all at our expense. Then she acts like she deserves it. The two of them bask in the Hollywood spotlight, getting in front of the cameras at every opportunity, doing a woeful job acting like they care a whit about anything but their personal aggrandizement. I wish her a long life. I just hope she goes away soon.

GOP DEBATE UNDERCARD

In full disclosure, your intrepid reporter made an exception to his self-imposed boycott of news broadcasts to watch the debates last night. I have every cable channel and the moderators at FBN, unlike their counterparts at CNN, are far smarter than the chairs they’re sitting on. Trish Regan and Sandra Smith may have done a better job than Cavuto and Bartiromo.

I decided to post this because there wasn’t much noteworthy compared to the main event.

Here’s Dianny’s take:

I know most of you probably didn’t see it, but I thought I’d give you some quick thoughts on the Undercard Debate.

First of all, I wish like hell Fox Business did all the debates. These moderators are awesome.

Both Trish Regan and Sandra Smith were moderators for the previous Fox Business Undercard Debate, and honestly, I think they’ve proven they should be moderating the main event. Smart questions, not the typical crapola one gets from say CNN or CBS or those numb-nuts at CNBC. Just great questions — intelligent, thought-provoking. These ladies are terrific.

Actually, the debate was over in two minutes, when Carly Fiorina came up with this zinger: “Unlike Hillary, I Like Spending Time With My Husband”
