Sometimes Life Stinks
Yesterday morning the blower on our furnace quit. The landlord sent over his HVAC guys, who determined which part they needed. Being an old furnace, there was only one place in town that had it and the landlord decided they wanted too much money, so he had a new furnace installed today. Everything is fine. I go to bed, and when the furnace kicks in it sounds like a tugboat engine, chugging away. After being woke up 3 times, I gave up. That’s why I’m sitting here, typing this nonsense while I wait to go do my newspapers. Sometimes you just can’t win.

The Denver Sheriff’s Department, it turns out, stopped honoring detainer requests back in 2014. They have plenty of company. Perhaps no state has done more to spit in ICE’s face than California. Last week, Oakland, California Mayor Libby Schaaf even encouraged “undocumented citizens” to evade the immigration authorities. In a social media post, she warned the community that ICE agents were planning a raid in the next 24 hours. Her heads up very well may have allowed hundreds of individuals to flee, because when ICE showed up, they found only 232 of the 864 illegal immigrants that were supposedly living there.

Democrats Pitch Bill Creating 50 Percent Tax On Gun, Ammo Sales
A group of House Democrats has introduced a bill that would up the taxes on firearms and ammunition to pay for research on “gun violence and its prevention.”
Under the plan, ammunition would see excise taxes increase to 50 percent and firearms to 20 percent. Currently, manufacturers pay a long-running 11 percent excise tax on sporting firearms and ammunition under the Pittman–Robertson Act, which goes to fund conservation efforts such as hunter education programs, public shooting ranges and preserving wildlife habitat. The jump in fees under Davis’ plan would be set aside for public safety grants and research.
But that’s what gun grabbers want to do. They don’t just want to keep people from buying guns. They want to hurt the people who already have them.

NAACP Urges National Gun Confiscation
NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson called for a national gun confiscation program in a syndicated column through Black Press USA on Monday.
Comparing recent school shootings to the violence and discrimination black students faced after the 1954 Brown v. Senate clears two more judicial nominees, 27 total judges confirmed
Karen Gren Scholer was confirmed to the Northern District of Texas Monday by a vote of 95-0. The Senate also voted 85-11 to confirm Tilman Eugene Self III to the Middle District of Georgia.
Mr. Trump has placed 27 judges on the federal bench since taking office last January, when he faced an unprecedented amount of judicial vacancies. Fourteen of the 28 judicial picks took seats on circuit courts, while the other 13 nominees filled vacancies on district courts.

San Diego State University offering course called ‘Trump: Impeachment, Removal, or Conviction?’
A description of the course says the focus will be on the two constitutional grounds for removing a president from office: “Impeachment and removal (25th Amendment),” KUSI News reported.
It will include lessons on possible charges of the independent counsel and the powers of the president. Students in the class will also learn about “presidential immunity from indictment, and grounds for impeachment, removal, or indictment.”

Texans break early voting record after more Dems get involved

According to data posted on Saturday by the Texas secretary of state’s office, 885,574 Texans voted in the 11 days of early voting that ended Friday, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
That figure far surpasses the 592,153 Texans who voted early in 2014.
Early voting among Democrats surged this year, the Statesman reported. 465,245 Democrats cast their ballots early, compared to 420,329 Republicans. That represents a significant change from 2014, when only 226,730 Democrats voted early, compared to 65,423 Republicans.

Republicans Better Wake Up
This may turn out to be a rather lengthy rant. It’s happened before.
A billionaire former reality show host and political neophyte sent shock waves all over the world when he defeated the most corrupt, greedy, ruthless congenital liar ever to run for the presidency. I doubted his chances of even winning the nomination, but came to realize that he was the only man who could stop the pre-ordained coronation of the Beast of Benghazi. He’s done pretty well, especially with his nomination to SCOTUS of Neil Grouch. He totally played the Democrats on DACA, which expired yesterday, and his tax cuts have kick-started the economy.
Maybe we’ve taken too much for granted, controlling all three branches of government. Not enough of us realize the white-hot rage and anger of the Left after seeing their dream of a totalitarian power vaporized. They have not taken it well. With help from people like George Soros, Tom Steyer, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffet, they have mobilized voter turnout to flip 38 straight state House and Senate seats. The media has committed every atrocity possible against the president. The Democrats count on a raging electorate with the promise of impeaching Trump the day they get the majority, which they think is a foregone conclusion.
After a good start, Trump is reverting to the way he was in the past. He’s always been in favor of trade tariffs, this time on steel and aluminum imports. W tried it, but after 13 months and more than 200,000 jobs lost, he had to rescind them. Trump’s tax cuts have spurred the economy and brought a lot of revenue that was parked offshore back home. Who knows how many will stay here and how many more will be forced to relocate.
He’s also opted for the Democrat plan for gun control, taking the guns first and passing laws later. He totally rejected Steve Scalise, the congressman who was almost killed, who offered an amendment for national reciprocity for CCW carriers.
I’ve been meaning to comment on this for some time:
It would be almost unthinkable that police officers in Parkland would be ordered to stand down and “surround” the school until the cries of the dead and dying stopped. But this is how communism operates. Those 17 innocents were sacrificed to make a demonic push for gun confiscation. This may have been unthinkable at one time, but we’ve seen the Americans left to die by Obama and Clinton so as not to have to answer questions before a presidential election. Obama also ignored the pleas of the Gulf Coast governors for permission to try to stop the BP oil spill from making landfall. He waited until it came ashore, destroying thousands of small businesses and putting tens of thousands of people out of work, just so he could use it as an excuse to put a moratorium on oil exploration. What did he care? Most of them didn’t vote for him anyway.
If we don’t wake up we’re going to find ourselves staring as something akin to a toddler with a machine gun as the Democrats, when they get the power, will stop at nothing to stop everything we’ve managed to accomplish to this point.
Broward County Deputies Told to Form Perimeter Around School Instead of Confronting Shooter

The order came from Capt. Jan Jordan.
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel had said publicly that active-shooter training instructs officers to immediately confront the shooter or shooters. Forming a perimeter is secondary.
The documents show the shooting lasted approximately 6 minutes and was likely over by the time officers arrived on the scene. In a press conference revealing (now former) school deputy Scot Peterson stayed outside rather than confronting the shooter, Sheriff Israel said Peterson should have “went in. Addressed the killer. Killed the killer.”
Despite it all, Sheriff Israel refuses to resign.
For what good it will do, the Florida House opened an investigation, subpoenaing Broward County Schools and law enforcement.

It’s Oscar Night!
This used to be a big deal. I remember my grandmother watching to see all the gowns the Hollywood elite wore (and often make snide comments about them looking like “a saddle on a sow”…extra grannyism there), or some such offhand snarkiness. The Academy Awards have degenerated into an orgy of self-congratulatory egoists slapping each other on the back, thanking all the ‘little people’ and copping clandestine feels before the “#me too” nonsense was brought belatedly to light.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation, which has identified similar noncitizen voting problems in studies of Virginia and New Jersey, said Pennsylvania officials have admitted noncitizens have been registering and voting in the state “for decades.”
