THE WEDNESDAY GRUDGE

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.I could not ask for a more loving,caring group of people to call my friends.Chrissy,I was surprised to hear we’ve had the same experience.I’ll definitely use the Nature’s Sunshine HS-2,if you can tell me where to find it.

While I was doing transport,I worked one Saturday even though I was really sick.When I got back to the office I called DW and told her when I got home she was taking me to the emergency room.I had a fever of 102 and an x-ray showed I had pneumonia in my left lung.The doctor said my blood oxygen level was 72 and by law I couldn’t leave until it was at least 90.I spent over an hour breathing albuterol through a nebulizer.He said I probably have sleep apnea,but my body has adjusted to the low oxygen level.

When you start thinking death can come quickly it puts things in perspective.I consider myself fortunate to have grown up in a slower,more innocent time in America.Life was far more family-oriented and less cynical.Dad went to work,Mom took care of the house and she was always there when you got home from school.When mom said: ‘wait till your dad gets home’ it really meant something.

When somebody fom the neighborhood or from church suffered a hardship we didn’t whine about the government helping out.We offered anything we had to help because they would surely do the same.

Between my junior and senior year in high school one of my classmates got pregnant and her parents had to take her out of school.Now they have daycare for student mothers because it’s so commonplace.

We went from pickup baseball games at the park and reading 10 cent comic books to who had the fastest car or the loudest 8 track tape player.We cruised the local root beer stands and parked in the back row with our girl friends at the drive-in movie theater.I won’t go into details–I’m a gentleman.

I remember how things were and see how they are now and I can’t help but feel sad for those who will never know what it was like to have pride in who you were,where you lived,what you did and found satisfaction in never asking anybody for anything.

Gas prices have doubled under Obama

When Obama took office, the average price for a gallon of gas $1.83.

Today, it’s $3.51.

That’s close to a ONE HUNDRED PERCENT increase in just three years under Democrat leadership!

Is it fair to blame this on Democrat policies?

YES!

From the beginning to the end of EIGHT YEARS under Bush (six with a Republican majority in Congress), gas prices went up only 25%.

Isn’t it “the mess Bush left” that’s responsible?

NO!

It isn’t Republicans who refuse to allow American companies to harvest the oil and natural gas reserves resting right under our own feet.

It’s Democrats.

Supposedly, it’s to “save the planet” by driving up the price of gas.

Yes, Virginia, they WANT the price of gas to go up to $10 or more per gallon. They think that will stop people from driving cars and start using more mass transportation.

In more than one speech on this subject, Obama criticized us (of course) and cited Europe and Japan as examples of how it SHOULD be done.

Has he looked at a map? Mass trans works fine in small, crowded places like Europe and Japan.

Where I live? Not so much.

In Texas? Forget it.

And even in crowded places, it doesn’t work all that well for some people. Why else would there still be so many cars in places like Manhattan where driving is a nightmare and there are more buses, subway trains and taxi cabs than you can imagine?

Democrats also seem to be really big on refusing drilling rights to American companies for allegedly environmental concerns.

But American companies are covered by our strict environmental protection laws, which the foreign companies they have given drilling rights to on OUR offshore sites are NOT.

Democrats say Republican is the party of NO.

But I think it’s the Democrats.

How come Democrats don’t talk about how we can drill SAFELY here?

Why is it all just NO to using our own oil and gas?

Do they WANT us to be at the mercy of OTHER countries for our energy needs?

I don’t see these “Go Green!” hypocrites in Washington limiting their OWN use of fossil fuels in the least. The Obamas could have spent Christmas at Camp David, which is one 60 mile helicopter ride out and one ride back to the White House.

Instead, they took multiple giant planes loaded with all the limos and security staff and other stuff the president needs (that’s already at Camp David) more than FOUR THOUSAND MILES each way so he could play on the beach.

It cost millions of dollars just to fly them to Hawaii and a lot of that cost was in jet fuel.

I’m supposed to buy their “save the planet” crap when they act like that?

I don’t think so!

If you really love paying higher prices on gasoline and on everything that gets transported anywhere by car, truck, train or plane at any time before you can buy it at your local store AND you really love living with the ever present risk of a hostile nation choking off our energy supplies because Democrats won’t let us drill our own, vote Democrat.

But if you want people in office who understand that it’s not just possible, but important that we harvest our own energy supplies responsibly, vote Republican.

Ting,I’m chartreuse with envy that you got to see Sarah live.I watched on CSPAN and like the crowd there I got a little impatient with all the stuff they had to do before she spoke.I sat there watching her deliver her awesome message and kept asking myself:WHY THE HELL ISN’T SHE OUR CANDIDATE?????

People backing Newt claim he could beat Obama in a debate.Sarah would gut him like a salmon.If the media thinks they’ve intimidated her into shutting up they better think again.

There is no one–no one in the Republican party that can command an audience the way she can.It takes a lot to completely disembowel somebody and seem so polite about it.She even got in a dig at the establishment GOP by saying some Tea Party members WILL have leadership positions next session.

I’ve read elsewhere the last few days that there is a possibility of a brokered convention and Jeb Bush might be drafted.We don’t need another Bush right now but can you imagine Gov. Palin coming out the winner?The sound of liberal heads exploding would be the stuff dreams are made of.It’s more than we can hope for,but we know she’ll be heard from again soon.

I saw the Occubaggers trying to disrupt her speech and were shouted down by folks shouting USA!USA!

This is NOT about “access to birth control.”

Birth control is available in every drug store and public rest room in the country.

The HHS mandate is about the government trampling on our First Amendment rights.

It’s also about forcing up health insurance costs to the point where the private sector can no longer offer it.
The Left wants all health care moneys to be run through the government coffers.
The Left wants all health care decisions to be dictated by the government.
This mandate is just one step in the whole plan.
If you’ve paid attention to the Obamacare debates, you already know this.

The sides are being clearly drawn.
And, make no mistake, friends.
The lines are CONSTITUTIONAL.

Republicans are for it.
Democrats are against it.

When I was 8,I joined the Cub Scouts.At 11 I went into the Boy Scouts as a rite of passage,as many boys did back then.There was a local Scout camp about 30 miles south of where we lived.We went there for a couple summers straight.One summer we wanted to go to Camp Northwoods in Watersmeet,Michigan.I don’t recall what the trip cost back then,but it was considerable.We didn’t want to sell popcorn because every other scout troop was doing it.Your humble correspondent came up with an idea.

We went to Hoople’s Grain and Feed Store(it’s still there)and got stacks of empty feed sacks.Living on a dairy farm,I had an unlimited supply of fresh manure to sell for fertilizer.One kid’s dad was a graphic designer and he made us a big sign for our roadside stand.The sign read:BUY YOUR BS FROM THE BSA. We sold enough for every kid to go to the Northwoods.True story.
