Schumer slammed for citing skin color in vote against white judicial nominee
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer faced a stern rebuke from congressional colleagues for citing skin color in voting against a white federal judge nominee earlier this week.
Schumer, D-N.Y., said on the Senate floor Wednesday that the nomination of Marvin Quattlebaum, a white lawyer who is a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in Greenville, S.C., “speaks to the overall lack of diversity in President Trump’s selections for the federal judiciary.”

San Diego State University offering course called ‘Trump: Impeachment, Removal, or Conviction?’
A description of the course says the focus will be on the two constitutional grounds for removing a president from office: “Impeachment and removal (25th Amendment),” KUSI News reported.
It will include lessons on possible charges of the independent counsel and the powers of the president. Students in the class will also learn about “presidential immunity from indictment, and grounds for impeachment, removal, or indictment.”

Texans break early voting record after more Dems get involved
I ALLUDED TO THIS IN THE PREVIOUS POST
Early voting in Texas’ largest 15 counties has hit an all-time high for a non-presidential election year ahead of congressional primaries in the state on Tuesday.
According to data posted on Saturday by the Texas secretary of state’s office, 885,574 Texans voted in the 11 days of early voting that ended Friday, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
That figure far surpasses the 592,153 Texans who voted early in 2014.
Early voting among Democrats surged this year, the Statesman reported. 465,245 Democrats cast their ballots early, compared to 420,329 Republicans. That represents a significant change from 2014, when only 226,730 Democrats voted early, compared to 65,423 Republicans.

Statue of Marion Barry, controversial former mayor, unveiled in Washington
THE INSCRIPTION SHOULD READ: “THE BITCH SET ME UP!”
To some in Washington, D.C., he was a “living legend” who advocated for the city’s poor. To others he was a controversial figure remembered for being re-elected mayor despite serving a prison sentence for possession of crack cocaine.
The move to honor Barry, who died at age 78 in 2014, may seem mystifying to non-Washingtonians. But among Barry’s supporters, the statue is an appropriate tribute to a legitimate D.C. icon — a man so popular and influential that he walked out of federal prison and immediately began winning elections again with one of the most improbable comebacks in American political history.

How A Pathetic Republican Party Is Allowing ‘The Resistance’ To Run The Score — And The Government
Senate Republicans are heading toward midterm elections with control of their chamber and the biggest advantage any majority party has had since 1790. Yet every week, the Democrats are allowed to work just 2.5 days before returning home to duke it out with their Republican challengers. That is, Mitch McConnell is allowing Democrats to hit the campaign trail hard while obstructing 139 of the president’s nominees
Executive governance is out of style. On Friday, while 26 Senate Democrats up for re-election went home to their states or elsewhere to speak and raise money with which to batter Republicans in November, 139 of the White House’s nominees languished in positions from undersecretary for arms control and international security affairs to director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center

GOP Rep: POTUS and His Family Are Being Put Through Hell For Winning an Election – There’s No Evidence They Committed Any Crime
Earlier this week, GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin sent a letter to AWOL Attorney General Jeff Sessions urging him to appoint a Special Counsel to investigate FISA abuses and how/why Hillary’s probe ended and Trump’s Russia probe began.
Zeldin’s letter came after Sessions told reporters he would have IG Horowitz investigate the FISA abuses. We need a special counsel; the Inspector General does not have prosecutorial power.
At the time of this publication, thirteen GOP Reps. have signed Zeldin’s letter.
On Sunday, Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) said from his Twitter account, “.@realDonaldTrump & family being investigated for winning election w/no evidence they committed any crime to win the election. Sick, crazy & wrong!”
Chicago community organizer blasts Obama: ‘He forgot the community got him where he is’
THEY DON’T REALIZE OBAMA HAS ALWAYS PLAYED THEM FOR THE USEFUL IDIOTS THEY ARE. EXCEPT FOR VALERIE JARRETT, OBAMA HAS TURNED HIS BACK ON EVERYONE WHO SACRIFICED TO HELP HIM GET AHEAD.
“The library is a great idea, but what about a community benefits agreement?” Taylor asked, referring to a contract between a developer and community organizations that requires investments in, or hiring from, a neighborhood where a project is built. “The first time investment comes to black communities, the first to get kicked out is low-income and working-class people. Why wouldn’t you sign a CBA to protect us?”

The Woman in the High Castle
WE DIDN’T DODGE A BULLET, WE DODGED AN ICBM
In a dystopian fantasy in The New York Times at the end of the year, the columnist Bret Stephens reminded us of the horror that might have been:
Tax cuts. Deregulation. More for the military; less for the United Nations. The Islamic State crushed in its heartland. Assad hit with cruise missiles. Troops to Afghanistan. Arms for Ukraine. A tougher approach to North Korea. Jerusalem recognized as Israel’s capital. The Iran deal decertified. Title IX kangaroo courts on campus condemned. Yes to Keystone. No to Paris. Wall Street roaring and consumer confidence high.
And, of course, Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court.
Thank God, as Stephens himself so forcefully predicted, Donald Trump was crushed in the November 2016 election and the nation was spared those and other right-wing depredations.
Instead, Hillary Rodham Clinton, in the landslide that everyone who was anyone predicted, was elected the 45th president of the United States and lost no time in fulfilling her campaign promises—and even going beyond what she had promised in many areas. […]
“Hate speech is not free speech,” Clinton argued in a rousing Oval Office speech, which is widely credited with inaugurating the lawsuit now before the Supreme Court to update the outmoded provisions of the First Amendment for the 21st Century. “Thomas Jefferson could not have foreseen Fox News, Breitbart, or Rush Limbaugh,” Clinton said, “and it’s pretty clear that our Founding Fathers and Mothers would not have countenanced the hurtful lies masquerading as news that such divisive outlets foster.”

Maxine Waters Promises Slavery Reparations For Blacks If Dems Take House In Midterm Elections
Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters said during an event in Selma, Alabama on Saturday that she would “be happy” to secure financial reparations for black Americans.
Waters said as long as Democrats win back the House in 2020 and are able to get a president who is friendly to their agenda, it would be “wonderful” to get reparations.
“I’d be happy to do that. That’s no problem,” Waters said when an event attendee pressed her to support reparations.

CNN’s Acosta Complains: ‘This Is the Third Briefing You’ve Not Taken a Question from CNN
YOU’D THINK AFTER A WHILE THEY’D GET THE HINT
Monday at the end of the White House press briefing, CNN’s chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta complained to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders that she has not taken a question from CNN recently.
As Sanders was leaving the press room Acosta said, “Sarah, this is the third briefing you’ve not taken a question from CNN. Do you expect the Justice Department to enforce all subpoenas, Sarah?”

Florida Senate passes bill to put restrictions on gun sales
THERE WILL BE AN ALL-OUT ATTEMPT AT GUN CONFISCATION, WHICH WILL LEAD TO CIVIL UNREST AND GEORGE SOROS WILL MAKE BILLIONS OFF THE CARNAGE
The 20-18 vote came after three hours of often emotional debate. Support and opposition crossed party lines, and it was clear many of those who voted for the bill weren’t entirely happy with it.
“Do I think this bill goes far enough? No! No, I don’t!” said Democratic Sen. Lauren Book, who tearfully described visiting Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School after 17 people were fatally shot on Valentine’s Day.

Christian Bridal Shop Closes Down Over Fear of LGBT Law After Facing Death Threats
A Christian bridal shop in Pennsylvania that has faced death threats will shut its doors permanently due to the strong likelihood that a local town council will pass a law banning discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
W.W. Bridal in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, which made headlines in 2014 and again in 2017 because of the Christian owners’ refusal to sell wedding dresses to same-sex couples, has announced that it will close down officially on March 30.

Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran Announces Resignation, Will Depart April 1
THIS WALKING CADAVER WOULD NEVER BEEN RE-ELECTED IN THE FIRST PLACE, BUT FOR THE TAMPERING BY McCONNELL BUYING VOTES TO HELP HIM DEFEAT CHRIS McDANIEL
While he survived a brutal and controversial Senate primary in 2014, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, citing his failing health, is resigning effective April 1. A special election will be held to finish the remainder of his term that ends in 2020. If no one gets above 50 percent, a runoff will be held. For now, Gov. Phil Bryant will appoint an interim senator to fill the vacancy until the election. Cochran’s colleague, Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MI), is up for re-election this year and is facing a challenge by state Sen. Chris McDaniel. McDaniel challenged Cochran in 2014

Mike Espy to run for Thad Cochran’s Senate seat
Espy became Assistant State Attorney General from 1984 to 1985, when he was elected as a Democrat to the 100th Congress in 1986 from Mississippi’s 2nd congressional district.
He defeated two-term Republican Webb Franklin to become the first African-American to represent Mississippi at the federal level since Reconstruction.
He was reelected three times.
Just 20 days after taking office for his fourth term, Espy resigned after being appointed Secretary of Agriculture in the Cabinet of President Bill Clinton. He served as Secretary of Agriculture in 1993–94.

The Silicon Valley elite’s latest status symbol: Chickens
Their pampered birds wear diapers and have personal chefs — but lay the finest eggs tech money can buy
AS AN OLD FARM BOY, I AM VERY WELL AWARE OF THE NUANCES OF THE RAISING OF POULTRY.
I JUST HAD TO POST THIS TO SHOW YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE ABOUT HOW LOONEY CALIFORNY HAS BECOME.
In America’s rural and working-class areas, keeping chickens has long been a thrifty way to provide fresh eggs. In recent years, the practice has emerged as an unlikely badge of urban modishness. But in the Bay Area — where the nation’s preeminent local food movement overlaps with the nation’s tech elite — egg-laying chickens are now a trendy, eco-conscious humblebrag on par with driving a Tesla.
In true Silicon Valley fashion, chicken owners approach their birds as any savvy venture capitalist might: By throwing lots of money at a promising flock (spending as much as $20,000 for high-tech coops). By charting their productivity (number and color of eggs). And by finding new ways to optimize their birds’ happiness — as well as their own.
They are selecting for desirable personality traits (such as being affectionate and calm — the lap chickens that are gentle enough for a child to cuddle), rarity, beauty and the ability to produce highly coveted, colored eggs.
All of it happens in cutting-edge coops, with exorbitant veterinarian bills and a steady diet of organic salmon, watermelon and steak.

THIS IS MY STATE…OR WHAT’S LEFT OF IT

I’M TIRED NOW

Trump joked that he was late to the dinner “because Jared couldn’t get through security,” mocking his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner’s loss of top secret security clearance because of a variety of business entanglements.
Trump addressed the crowd and did not hold back. He told the media elites he and The New York Times are both New York City icons — “the only difference is I still own my buildings.”
OF COURSE SHE HAD TO RUN TO HER HOMEGIRL TO WHINE ABOUT HOW MEAN TRUMP IS.

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?
In a bizarre display of willful blindness, U.S. liberal media have lavished praise on North Korea’s dictatorship during the first days of the Winter Olympics, gushing over its “charm offensive” and comparing it favorably to the Trump administration.
President Trump wants a parade celebrating our military and troops. It’s a great idea, and is a perfect event symbolizing the fact that America is getting back on her feet after eight years of a commander-in-chief who reveled in complaining about America and decimating our military.
Donald Trump with wife Melania and sons Eric and Donald, Jr. Trump holds the Phelps Award as 2008 Honoree of the Year by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza.
Current, former workers at Coleman facility say that’s not true
WHY IS THIS DECREPIT HAG RULING ON CASES INVOLVING THE PRESIDENT/?
RAUNER TRIED TO BRING A BIT OF FISCAL SANITY TO THIS LIBERAL SEWER. HE WAS STEAMROLLED BY THE DEMOCRAT-DOMINANT LEGISLATURE LED BY HOUSE SPEAKER MICHAEL MADIGAN AND THE NEWS MEDIA. HIS VETO WAS EASILY OVERRIDDEN AND HE JUST GAVE UP. NOTHING ANY REPUBLICAN DOES WOULD MAKE A BIT OF DIFFERENCE.
The Washington Post, New York Times, and USA Today still refuse to employ a single columnist that won’t begin each piece with anything less than “Mr. Trump, you are a liar!”
The FDA reports that such drug-induced abortions have led to cases of extreme bleeding, infection and incomplete abortions requiring a surgery, and even to the death of mothers. The drugs are especially dangerous to women who are later in pregnancy or are experiencing an ectopic pregnancy, both conditions which must be determined by an ultrasound (using equipment not usually found in a college health center.) And that is before we add in the emotional experience of waiting alone in a bathroom to see the pre-born infant pass into a toilet.
“Given how unpopular oil development in coastal waters is in California, it is certain that the state would not approve new pipelines or allow use of existing pipelines to transport oil from new leases onshore,” coastal commissioners Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, State Controller Betty Yee, and state Department of Finance Director Michael Cohen wrote in a letter Wednesday to the BOEM.
These are the same people who defended Bill Clinton – who actually was accused of rape and was forced to pay thousands to at least one woman he sexually abused.
“Let’s just start by saying, ‘Wow,’ again. Let me just take a minute. It’s amazing. Wow,” Obama said after the portrait was unveiled. The moment was met with a gasp and applause.

I DON’T SEE WHAT ALL THE HUBBUB IS ABOUT… MOST PEOPLE KNEW HE WAS A MUSLIM SOCIALIST IN THE FIRST PLACE. HANGING IN J. WRIGHT’S CHURCH WAS NO CAUSE FOR ALARM. THE MEDIA WOULD NOT ALLOW ANY NEGATIVE INFORMATION TO LEAK OUT ABOUT THEIR SHINY-FACED HEART THROB.
THEY WANT TO BRING TRUMP DOWN SO BADLY THEY’RE CLUTCHING AT STRAWS.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats will fill the balcony with so-called Dreamers and other immigrants during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address next week as the party panned a White House attempt on Thursday to reach a deal on immigration reform
According to Politico reporter Rachael Bade, House Republicans are enraged by an amnesty plan — crafted by Marc Short, Gen. John Kelly, Kirstjen Nielsen, and Stephen Miller — leaked on Thursday that gives a pathway to U.S. citizenship to at least 1.8 million illegal aliens who are enrolled and eligible for President Obama’s DACA program.

This embarrassing game of Chicken shows that — for the first time in decades — a Republican won the Narrative War.
In a campaign email, the message from the Trump campaign is that “Democrats CAVED”:

In a protest outside of the U.S Capitol, open borders advocates and illegal alien activists slammed Democrats after they originally shut down the federal government to push amnesty for illegal aliens, but then caved to President Trump and voted to reopen the government without an amnesty attached to the funding bill.
“Would you favor or oppose Democrats voting to shut the government down if the continuing budget resolution does not include restoring so-called DACA work permits for undocumented immigrants brought here illegally by their parents?”
“While today’s vote ends the Trump Shutdown, it does not diminish our leverage,” Pelosi said in a “Dear Democratic Colleague” note to her caucus members. “While Members may vote differently on this bill, we are unified in our determination to meet the needs of the American people with our Better Deal: Better Jobs, Better Wages, Better Future.”
When Schultz was asked point-blank what the point of the government shutdown was her response left Baldwin’s jaw on the floor. “What one thing did [Schumer] get, you know, from Republicans, to justify shutting down the government in the first place?” Baldwin asked.
